I got this receiver to replace our Bose we got in 2000. Bose head unit finally died completely. I was impressed with the quality and surround separation, it was close to the sound of our Bose. Movies and games sound great, love the sound separation on ps4 games and the surround on movies. The only downside is it is sometimes difficult to get the tv to and ps4 to switch. It might be because it is a one connect Samsung tv.still love it though. Sounds great with my Bose lifestyle speakers, I did have to get a different sub but worth it.

Worth every penny! This receiver was extremely easy to hook up and, especially for the price, offers extremely good features and quality. I would definitely purchase this again.

For my little space It is just excellent. The quality is the best with easy set up and use. I enjoy it everyday, By the way, the search and purchase at Bestbuy was very good as before.

Good Receiver but the volume control knob is hard to turn and you have to really turn the volume up really high to get any power coming thru the speakers.

Needed to replace my older Panasonic receiver and started to comparison shop for a newer model. This Onyko Receiver is just what I was looking for my audio needs. Quick guide is fairly basic, but do advise to download the complete manual from the website. So far the stereo part of the receiver works great - good clarity once you find the right location for the FM antenna, Have yet to try the DVD player, but have a feeling should have no issues as long as the connections are correct. Like the idea of having the ability to use just front facing speakers, as well as, setting up surround sound speakers. Great basic receiver for my needs.

Works amazing with PS4 Projector and Cable box. The quality was f the picture is unbelievable. The ease of using the tuner is simple and not complicated at all.

This may not be the fanciest Home theatre receiver but for 250 dollars it makes my room sound great and it's easy to connect to and set up.

A few months ago we decided to upgrade the sound system in our travel trailer. Years ago we purchased an Onkyo 7.2 Channel TX-NR656 8-HDMI input receiver for our house to replace a Sony receiver that went quiet during a Super Bowl game. We went with the Onkyo TX-NR656 and was truly happy with it. When it was time to buy another receiver we decided to skip Sony and only look at the Onkyo receivers. This is one only has 4 HDMI inputs (exceeds our needs in the travel trailer), it is about the same physical size of our home unit and produces great sound and picture quality.

Easy to connect and set up. Plenty of power for a medium to large size room. It would be better if all speakers had banana plug connections.

I bought this recently to replace a smoked unit. The local store did not have very many choices in stock of receivers and decided on this one. The price was reasonable and is a well known brand. The problems started when I hooked it up. The box only comes with quick start up instructions which are not very comprehensive and basically confusing. I had to Google search a more detailed manual which was like 32 pages long. The only way to get certain lights to stop flashing on the display was to hook it up to the TV via HDMI to offer a function that my TV will not allow. overall happy with the purchase

While onkyo has been around for a while, this receiver surprised me for the price, I took it home and installed, and the quality and simplicity of it are amazing!

If you are on a budget and want something simple, this is a very good receiver. However, if your needs may change in the near future, its features are limited. It's only a 5.2 and may lack power if you have a larger room or home theater.

Very happy with the sound quality, ease of setup and user friendliness. Not sure paying more for a different receiver would give me more than this one, very happy

I’m powering 2 bose 301 series V and the power is perfect for the room. Decent amount of warmth and features, sounds great.

I bought this to replace an 18 year old receiver with an optical port that broke. The Samsung Q6 TV I bought had no way to connect to my old receiver so I bought this one. The HDMI port for TV/cable stopped working after 1 week so I returned it to B.B. and they exchanged it with no hassle. It’s easy to set up and connect a PS4 to as well as anything else like a CD player or even a VCR since it has RCA ports. The Bluetooth is a nice feature also. I’d give it 5 stars if it didn’t have to be returned.

Easy set up and quality item. Does an excellent job. The only thing I was not happy with was no WiFi, but I did not want to pay an extra $150.00 for the WiFi unit.

Started upgrading to 4K and went with this receiver. Definitely happy with this choice. Great price and great quality. Always was a fan of Onkyo brand.

This receiver does a good job. No need to spend more money if you want a 5.2. This was an upgrade from my old receiver as I wanted HDMI connections and 4K receiver.
