i got this receiver to replace a sony receiver that my warrenty could not fix and died. This is the TX-SR393 model and The 1 thing i like with onkyo's are the warmth of the sound and this one has it.Can be a bit tricky to setup for a novice...this receiver only came with a setup guide but you can download a manuel from the website.it's HD-HDR compatible,Dolby Atmos 4k,and alot of different configs for speaker setup (even a 3.2 setup) but what was impressive was the sub-woofer sound...maybe because i have an onkyo subwoofer but the low-end was so much better on this receiver than my sony.i really should have gotten this receiver before buying the sony...not saying sony makes bad receivers just that mine only lasted 8 months and the onkyo i had before i brought the sony lasted 16yrs.

Totally blown sway with this unit and the price point. It has all kinds of sound adjustments, Bluetooth, 5 channels, two sub ports, plenty of hdmi ports and much more. It's pushing 155 watts oer channel. I'm running two jbl home studio large speakers, two polk audio floor standing speakers and just o e polk audio sub with amazing clarity, bass and it just ricks. It also has audio sound options. You can adjust almost anything. Very satisfied with this unit. A++

I previously had an Onkyo TX-SR606 but its surround channels had started dying one by one. With the upgrade to a UHD TV, I also picked up this new receiver to support 4K. Mine was open-box and missing the remote, so I can't review that part, but my Harmony 700 universal remote controls it just fine. Setup was easy and I have it switching my Roku, Cable DVR and Blu-ray sources for output to my UHD TV. Everything looks and sounds great. The only con is that exactly 30 minutes after powering on the receiver, I hear a relay click inside, no matter what the content is doing. It's the same click you would hear while switching sources, and at that time it's to be expected, but not in the middle of watching the traffic report on the morning news. Other than that, this receiver is everything I needed.

Let me just say first that this is a low cost receiver. However, I am highly impressed by the features that this thing has.
I have the receiver set up so that my TV box, a Roku device, a game console, and a turn table are all connected to the receiver. When I want to watch TV all I have to do is turn the TV and box on then turn on the receiver and select the proper input on the receiver remote. All the video source HDMI inputs works through the HDMI out which connects to the TV. I'm running a primarily Pioneer setup using SP-FS52 floor tower speakers, SP-BS22-LR bookshelf/surround speakers, SP-C22 center channel, and a Dayton Audio low profile SUB-1000L subwoofer (and I can't say enough good things about the Pioneers and the Dayton Audio low profile sub is very good for what it is) and am truly enjoying the greatly enhanced sound.
My only complaint is that I have to turn the TV on first, and then when is shows the input the TV is set to I can then turn on the receiver. Otherwise there is sound but no picture on the TV. A minor inconvenience, and one that is easily overlooked when considering the major upgrade in sound over the regular TV speakers.
The set up is so easy to use that my non-techie wife has no problems using it and has (reluctantly) commented on the fact that I was right about spending the money for the whole system.

Let me start out and say I did my research on Receivers, I wanted a 2.0 Channel to run some Polk speakers in my office. I stubbled across this Onkyo on Best Buy website and I'm not disappointed! The wire connections are excellent quality, the power is awesome (80 Watts per Channel) and they drive my ES20 speakers perfectly. The DTS Neural X and Dolby Atmos Surround decoders are really cool technologies, they make the guitar and percussion on tracks sound lifelike. The included remote is very good quality as well. Don't let the price dictate the quality of this unit, I'm impressed by Onkyo. The dials, buttons and LCD screen are very nice as well. I'm using this receiver in an OLD SCHOOL way to drive passive Stereo speakers and it works perfect! I also appreciate the Bluetooth connection so I can stream TIDAL music from my Mac Book. The configuration menus let you fine tune the number of speakers, distance to your listening location, and even Frequency response! Such a cool receiver, very versatile. I would give this unit 6 out of 5 Stars, that is how much I love it.

I am not an audiophile but I do like the Onkyo TX-SR393. When my old home theater sound system went out, I was forced to find something that sounds halfway decent. Looked at the online reviews and prices and settled on this system. Good price and great reviews. Took me a while to set up due to needing a good quality HDMI cables for ARC and 4K signal. Once it was working it sounds great, even better than my old system. My one other recommendation is if you don’t intend on passing your other 4K components through the system don’t bother with getting a 4K sound system. I connect all of my 4K components (DVD, Apple TV, Firestick) directly into my TV, so I just wanted a good sound system at a good price. My Onkyo is connected directly into my TV too. I Let my Samsung 4K TV direct and connect all my components. Having said all of that, this system is a good choice.

I wanted a simpler system. I’m not an audiophile and the last system I had was made for those who know and want to do a lot of fine tuning. This was easy to install and set up. adjusts easily to when the quality changes in a game or when watching tv. Only reason I am not giving 5 stars is it doesn’t connect it the internet and updating is via jump drive. Small inconvenience but still an inconvenience.

First, this unit replaced a 20+ year RCA Receiver. The sale price was awesome. The sound, ease of connectivity, easy setup, and the many features of this unit makes it a very good unit. Really like the fact that I can control this unit with just the tv remote for basic operation. One remote covers it all.

The Onkyo TX 5.2 Channel with Dobly Atmos 4K is a great sounding receiver for the price. Its clean face and perfect sized remote make it a welcome addition to my home entertainment setup. I enjoy trying different sound settings on high def channels, movies, games and music. And, it's so easy to bluetooth connect. I really enjoy having this next to my tv.

We recently replaced our 15 year old Sony TV to a smart 4K TV & wanted to get a 4K Receiver to go along with it. We have purchased numerous Onkyo Receivers in the past, so this is our "go-to" brand. We were not disappointed & the Best Buy Black Friday in July Low Price made it even that much better. Onkyo may not be a well known brand, but it's just as reliable & great quality as Sony! Highly Recommend!

It's been still working for me. Had to replace the Yamaha one unfortunately. Has a couple less features than I'm used to but it does what I need it to do. Speakers I have for it are from 2015 (Klipsch) and still work amazing with the Sony bass. Has Bluetooth and plenty of HDMI slots to hook my game consoles and such.

It's a powerful receiver @ 155w per channel. It's boosted my system more than I thought it would! I have a couple qualms with this unit however.. There is no physical manual included in the kit. the manual is linked via QR code which is slightly annoying but it works. It would also be nice if it was a 5.1.2 atmos channel instead of a 3.1.2 atmos. The 5.2 on the description kinda implies this and is kinda a bummer but it's still a good purchase for what it is.

I have owned a previous model so this is an upgrade for me in some aspects. I didn’t have any issues with the other one. I upgraded to this model for bluetooth, 4k, and the new HDMI standards. My previous model did have 7.1 surround sound but this one only has 5.2. That is actually ok since my room is not as big as the room in my old house and I don’t have a need for that many speakers. But can you ever have “too many speakers”? Anyway, this receiver works great and sounds great too! It certainly fills the room with high quality sound.

I already own a different brand receiver as my main unit but needed another one for another room. My budget was not as great as in the past but I needed the newest features such as Atmos and 4K HDR. This receiver had all the bells and whistles at the perfect price point. I'm very happy with it.

If you're looking for an affordable 4K pass-through receiver with Dolby Atmos audio & Bluetooth capability, this model is a good option for the money. Onyo has always made quality products & the setup/operation is very easy as compared to other models (Denon, Sony, etc.).
