Good receiver for 4K but doesn’t have a pass through like my old Sony. But sound is exceptional.

We bought a house with built in speakers and the samsung tv audio connection was miserable. This solved everything and better than expected. All devices are routed through this and all my remotes work with volume. Easy to setup and install - SO happy with this purchase

A replacement for and old TX503 unit. Handles the power I want although I need to be around 65 to 70 volume. This might be because the front speakers aren't as efficient . I only use a 3.1 set up. It's doing the job well. Good clarity. Mated with a trio of awesome B&W m1 speakers and a Polk 10" sub, the sound is excellent, both theatre ambiance for movies, particularly for music and remastered music sources. Very satisfied

I bought this unit 6 months ago and waited to review it. I am very happy with the value and performance. The optical audio works fantastic with the smart TV I bought from Bestbuy. The audio setup was easy and I love having simple Bass and Treble controls on the remote. My good old vinyl turntable sounds fantastic with a preamp thru the aux input. It switches automatically from 5.2 to all channel stereo when using it. Nice touch!

Easy to set up.. serves the purpose well for the price. And Okyo is good brand too. I have a sony in our room and we had this in the living room.. and performs the same way but sony is way kore expensive.

I reached a point where my Smsung soundbar was no longer producing clean midrange voices when watching internet TV movies. I like that this receiver has bluetooth and is compatible with Alexa. I bought this at my local BBuy store. I paired this with some Polk speakers and it sounds great. For an entry level Home theatre system I would highly recommend this Onkyo.

Works well as it should. Using 5.1 setup and sufficiently powerful for my TV room. The remote is intuitive and easy to use. Bluetooth working fine, despite some negative reviews. My only issue with this receiver is my Verizon cable box/DVR sometimes acts up and shuts down by itself; not sure if it's the receiver, but I didn't have the issue before. Will keep an eye.

I bought this for my house as it had speakers wired for surround sound. I hooked up and it all went well for about a year. During a movie, it "popped" as if a capacitor gave up and went into protection mode and never came out of it, despite my efforts. It was always used at moderate volume and didn't even have a subwoofer connected. I sent it off for warranty work. After 6 weeks, I checked the BestBuy's website and it said it was issued for a refund as it was returned. I was not informed about that but I ended up getting a gift card as the receiver was sent back to BestBuy as "Irreparable". I went with Yamaha for my new receiver.

Great budget receiver - poor online manual setup

Before reading further - make sure you read the online PDF manual for setup and also look for the addendum which is a separate online PDF. Hopefully this will save people some of the frustration I went through! I will update this review at a later time. I've been using an older receiver in my setup that does not have HDMI ports and my TV can only passthrough 2 channel PCM or dolby digital to a receiver. I wanted to have multi channel PCM as well as DTS, Atmos etc. I also wanted something that could passthrough 4k HDR. After seeing various reviews I decided on this receiver for the "best budget receiver" So far everything worked good but then I notced I couldn't get 4k HDR 60hz to work with my windows PC. If the PC is connected direct to the TV I could get 4k HDR 60 hz to work which led me to believe either there was a compatibility problem or something is wrong with the receiver. I then hooked up a PS4 Pro and got the same problem with the PS4 reporting it could do 4k 60hz but not 4k HDR 60hz. After searching around the internet and reading through the manual which is only available as a PDF online I couldn't find a solution and started to think I got a defective receiver. The front of the manual has a table of contects that is clickable to go to that section of the manual - I then noticed on the very first page of the manual at the bottom is a listing for "supplementary information" i.e. an addendum which I figured was just at the end of the manual. If you click on this though, it actual goes to a different PDF whch mentions how to switch the HDMI signal format to advanced. Once I switched to advanced, my PS4 and PC were displaying as expected.
