This thing is a absolute nightmare. It works when it wants to. Randomly switches channels. Half the time won't sync up and work until I've restarted it 5 times. If u want something to tick you off everyday then buy this price of garbage. The one time I don't buy a extended plan I end up with this thing. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!

    Nice change

Having spent over 30 years as a Sony advocate it was time for a change. First impressions of the 535, it's big,22 lbs.It has twice the ventilation of my last Sony, and the footprint is something to consider when deciding on this unit .Onkyo has much better room calibration then any on my past units. The system takes numerous speaker pulses and measurs room acoustics, for both low and highs, for each speaker. The end result a great sound that needs little additional adjustment. The sound itself is very clear, and accurate. The volume is full and fills a normal size room(150 to 250 ft) with no problem. Onkyo delivers a host of set up options and a 2nd zone which can be wireless, makes outdoor patio listening a breeze. There's many reasons why this unit will be the center of great home theater systems, and I'm looking forward to the long upstate winter now that I have this one.

This avr has been fantastic from setup to use, control and sound. The automated setup was a breeze and my sound is incredibly better than my previous Onkyo. The casting and phone app remote make for very good ease of use from music listening to watching movies

Purchased the new Sony receiver and returned it after so many issues. I have had Onkyo receivers before but I thought I would branch out, my mistake. Onkyo never fails, easy set up and sounds great!!

Good Product but HDMI Arc set up issues

I love the sound I get out of this new Onkyo. I replaced a 10 year old Onkyo receiver with this new purchase and it clearly puts out better sound with my Def Tech 7.1 system. TV and Movies sound much better. My only complaint is that I have difficulty getting the settings to stick with ARC working with my 2 year old Samsung HD TV which is ARC compliant. Not sure why but I have read that ARC is not perfect and issues can arise. I have tried support with Onkyo but they say just reset everything including TV. I have the system working but ARC does not show up in the menu so I assume it is disabled. Not exactly what I wanted to see so I give this product 4 out of 5 stars. Good value for what I paid compared to the $800 Onkyo from 10 years ago.

Bought the receiver on March 21, on the 3rd week, the video pass through stopped working. I can not go back to the store to have it exchanged because the return policy is 14 days. I thought my Roku device was broken, I tried 3 different HDMI cables and tried all the HDMI inputs on the unit but nothing worked. This is my 1st onkyo receiver, i have had sony and denon before, I had no problems with those brands. I bought this unit as an upgrade. It is not easy setting up a surround sound system, it should be "set it then forget it til the next upgrade". I have to wait for it to be fixed and set it up again. This is my first and LAST onkyo purchase!
