The other one (part of a basic, single-zone 5.1 set up with Klipsch speakers and woofer that are 10+ years old) works well. I appreciate having so many input options, including multiple optical inputs and a digital coax. Easy to set up and use, and great sound.

Good amount of HDMI ports and speaker connections

Has a number of inputs to allow all my devices and was easy to set up and hook up to speakers. The number of speaker inputs will allow me to build out my speakers over time.

“Upgraded” for 4K
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a Yamaha A1010 that was fantastic for sound quality, but would not allow 4K pass through. This Onkyo receiver causes a popping sound in my speakers when my mini-fridge compressor turns on/off. It is annoying. The Yamaha A1010 did not do this, and the only change made was the receiver. I tried A/C line filter surge protectors on all outlets, but they have not helped. Looks like I will have to add another breaker (hope this helps). I should have known there would be issues, since a Yamaha A1010 price for a used model, is still more than the Onkyo price brand new. Other than that, everything else seems fine...

Upgrade worth the price

Haven't upgraded speakers, or added atmos speaker but at 5.1 it makes a noticeable difference. Not to mention the audio return channel that takes everything through the receiver and surround sound so the TV volume doesn't have to be fooled with. That makes easier for the wife.
