Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the sound quality, ease of use, and Bluetooth connectivity of the TX 7.2-Ch. Hi-Res Network-Ready 4K Ultra HD and 3D Pass-Through A/V Home Theater Receiver. Many also appreciate the receiver's powerful performance and the extensive features it offers at its price point. However, some users experienced issues with the volume level requiring higher settings to achieve satisfactory sound, and others reported difficulties with the ARC functionality. The receiver's size was also noted as a potential drawback by a few customers.

Instead of buying a pioneer elite save the money and get the Onkyo which is made by the same company as onkyo owns pioneer. Powerful and has all the features. The WiFi menu is difficult to set up

I bought the receiver because of the 2 zone capability. I works as described. I am able to play zone 2 with a different source than zone 1. The remote works well and it is easy to set up.

Overall the sound and picture are great. Negatives are that it takes a lot of fine tuning to get everything right and sometimes switching between HDMI inputs can gets messy and it just wont work.

Great receiver for the money. With so many formats out there it can be hard to know what you need and what’s too much. This receiver does it all and won’t leave you wishing you had spent more.

Awesome receiver. Zone 1 and zone 2 can be hooked to Bluetooth. The app for this stystem works very well. It is a little complex to set everything up if your are use to this sort of thing.

My first Onkyo purchase after owning other brands. The on-screen setup was nice, the remote appeared limited but everything thing in available in menus. Sleek styling and plenty of HDMI ports.

After more than 20 years my Sony surround sound receiver start giving me problems so I was on the lookout for a replacement. Saw this model Onkyo on good sale and decided to try it out. Really liked all the features, including phono input and zone 2 speaker connection for speakers in our bedroom. Although being able to operate with app on phone and having built in Pandora, etc. I was still disappointed that zone 2 has no tone controls; therefore, my vintage Altec Lansing studio monitors sound very flat when I know they sounded great before. If anyone has any suggestion on setting tone for zone 2 I'd really appreciate. Other than than I really like all the other features.

I really like how many HDMI ports it has but do not like how you switch between them and program them. It's kinda complicated and a pain. Other receivers have much better ways to program them.

Purchased this receiver on the basis of Best Buy employee recommendation in order to have the Geek Squad set up surround sound from old speakers. Works great and is also running my tv, vhs and dvd player.

Very happy with the value proposition that this receiver presents. Great feature set, with a good audio signature that is not overly bright. Have to applaud Onkyo for not engaging in and advertising an unattainable power output. Rated at 100 WRMS with 2 channels driven, it delivers around 40 WRMS per channel in my 5 channel setup. As long as your speaker’s efficiencies are greater than 87db, it should deliver the goods as long as your room is not too large (250 Sf or less). Please note that the 5 star rating is from comparing this receiver to others in its price range. On an absolute scale, it’s audio quality is around a 3 out of 5.

Great system, plenty of HDMI in and two outs. Allows me to connect my entire system with out having to switch cables. I run the second HDMI out with a cat 6 extender to the bed room....

I bought this receiver on 3/19/2018. It handles everything I throw at it quite well (i.e. TV, Movies, PC, gaming). The only issue I have (and it could be the TV) is the passthrough does not always work as expected. Meaning, sometimes, I just want to watch TV without having the full blown surround sound on. Most of the time, I need to turn on the receiver to get the cable picture to come through the device. Once it is established, I can turn off the receiver and the picture and sound "passthrough". But I would prefer to not have to turn the receiver on and off. I thought the passthrough would just work.
