Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the sound quality, ease of use, and Bluetooth connectivity of the TX 7.2-Ch. Hi-Res Network-Ready 4K Ultra HD and 3D Pass-Through A/V Home Theater Receiver. Many also appreciate the receiver's powerful performance and the extensive features it offers at its price point. However, some users experienced issues with the volume level requiring higher settings to achieve satisfactory sound, and others reported difficulties with the ARC functionality. The receiver's size was also noted as a potential drawback by a few customers.

I was excited with the igood features and sound quality after initial setup. However it started freezing whenever I goes to settings menu to change speakers configuration. Finally after two weeks of use it gave up and stopped functioning for HDMI output. Returning this back to BB. Also, the mobile app keep disconnecting with Receiver and you have to complete power down restart of receiver to get connected.

Recently purchased this receiver hoping it would fit my needs. Verdict was okay. The hook up was fine but the sound quality was not as good as my previous unit which is 15 years old.

after buying this and being told our current speakers would sound better we have spent $500 on a sub and center and now need to buy 4 surrounds to get the sound it is designed for.

The unit works ok. It turns on by itself every so often and the app is not the best to use for volume control and the blue tooth keeps disconnecting.

Worst stereo receiver I've ever owned. Went up in smoke after a little over a year of rarely using it. Couldn't handle my Cerwin Vega speakers past volume level 55. Repeated error codes and eventually blew up. Contacted Bestbuy and they said contact the manufacturer. Also, about a 3 second delay with sound from a video when using bluetooth. I dont believe it would be worth the money to repair. Very disappointed!

I had a previous Onkyo receiver that catastrophically failed over the holidays and I needed to get a replacement receiver. Both this receiver and my previous model were around the same price point and 7.2 surround set-up. I would watch tv on the old system at about a 1/4 of max volume and it would be more than sufficient for everyone to hear. On this new system I have to have the volume around 60% of max volume to just be able to hear the dialogue on the tv.

I have been a loyal Onkyo owner for 20 years. Recently my NRX 604 died. After purchasing this model, I became very disappointed in the volume output of this receiver. Where normally I could have the volume set at 44 on the old receiver with this model I had to set it in the mid 50's. I also thought the sound was somewhat muted. Best Buy was very good in letting me return it after the 15 day period. I have gone to the Pioneer LX103. Jury is out on this unit.

This unit was easy to set up. It worked fine for 3 months and then the HDMI ports misfired. Audio was fine. Could it get any video.

I wanted this primarily for playing music either through the radio, bluetooth device or internet for a large space. It is really meant to be used as part of a full home sound system. As such it must be configured by connecting it to a tv before using for any purpose. Won't even work with a laptop. So okay - my bad. I soldiered on... Since there isn't a tv where I planned to use this I moved it to a room with one to configure it but when connected it was ridiculously hard to get the tv to recognize the receiver. Once I was able to get something to display, it initially would only show what I presume were the device specs - no set up screen. I turned the tv & receiver on and off several times, changed HDMI cables and outputs 3 times on the tv until I was finally almost able to see the set up screen they mention in the manual. Problem, could never get to clear picture - snow/static/waving images/black screen. Occasionally a flicker of the setup screen was visible but you could never see clear enough to go through the actual setup steps. Can't even tell you if the sound or anything else works as I couldn't get past setup. I am not an electronics setup novice or afraid of technology but this process is just ridiculous.

Not a musical receiver and just not enough power in the right places. Get the Yamaha RX-A6A.

I am disappointed in this receiver. I wanted to upgrade to 4K video, but the audio is not as clear as my previous Yamaha. There also is a popping sound that occurs through the speakers when my refrigerator compressor turns on, that never happened w/ my Yamaha. I have other issues w/ this receiver as well. I would spend a little bit more money to get a better quality receiver.

I bought this receiver to replace an old outdated Onkyo that still works. I played around with it, but could not tune the sound to my liking. Also this receiver was rated at 100 watts per channel, but my old one was rated at only 90 and it is so much louder and cleaner sounding than the new one. Unfortunately I had to return it.

I bought this receiver to replace a much older one that had two speaker zones (A + B), but if the receiver does, indeed have the feature, it is so buried in layers of selection and control that it’s simple not practical. I used to be able to simply press the B set of speakers for music on my deck, but no longer ...
