Many also appreciate the receiver's powerful performance and the extensive features it offers at its price point. Terrible product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace a Denon receiver that I had for 8-10 years. I was told it was a quality receiver. It's a P.O.S. takes forever to switch inputs, picture quality is terrible through it. Plus on a good day it shuts down saying "thermal error" only once or twice. Usually 5+ times. It's sitting with nothing around it with good ventilation. I wish I had returned it the first time I had issues with it, but was too busy with work. Now I'm stuck with it and am just going to have to suck it up and buy something different

So So, Other than Wifi, Bluetooth and Phono input!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fine receiver but cant make it work right with Sony Bravia Tv. I tried every setting in tv and receiver. Arc is a joke, if i dont use it te tv shuts down in like 3 minutes. Most frustrating receiver i ever had, but only receiver i could have afforded with all the many features. Features are an A+.

Great while it lasted
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a great starter receiver, for about a year - after that I got no sound. Looking through forums this has been a major issue with Onkyo products for a long time. Onkyo however just ended their replacement warranty on this in 2018. My receiver was 2 weeks over the standard warranty, and with that extension for the faulty HDMI boards no longer being covered, I'm having to replace. I'll stay away from Onkyo in the future, they have a known issue with a chipset on the HDMI board overheating resulting in loss of sound. Check the forums before purchasing, there are hundreds of reports of this, Onkyo used to cover the issue, but for whatever reason stopped doing so - and haven't corrected the issue. As a workaround, if you want a low price receiver, there is the option of installing a heatsink on the chip to help - otherwise your Onkyo is likely to have a shorter than desired lifespan.

Do not waste your money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Receiver has 9 speaker outputs and only output # 1 works. Onkyo directed me to one of their repair shops. Now 3 out of nine speaker outputs work. Speaker output number 1, 3 and 4 with output number 1 with the better sound. That means that 6 speaker output are not working. Do not waste your money.

Not smart
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sure the receiver does basic functions but try streaming to it or using any 'smart' function and it fails miserably.

Worst bass distortion ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The a base on my onkyo over powers bass and has the worst distortion of any reciever I have ever heard. Ebeb if the base is set to tje lowest levl possible it stil puts out too much base and disorts bery badly especially when bluray plyeris used. I would never buy any of tjeir products again.

Lasted 10 days, center channel loud buzz
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this on sale around 12/28/18 and it arrived on 1/8/19. It lasted until 1/18/19 when the center channel started to have a loud buzzing noise. I also noticed lines across my TV screen no matter the input source. Unplugging inputs and trying a new center speaker didn't resolve the issue. Something internally busted (probably a capacitor?). I had to return to BestBuy. When I did, customer service suggested I was outside the 15 day return window (since I bought on 12/28 but it wasn't delivered until 1/8, they accepted the return). I was surprised that even with a broken receiver bestbuy would have stuck me with it on day 16. Glad this broke on day 10.

Hate it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second onkyo receiver i have owned. First one had hdmi issues and became unuseable. I decided to try buying a newer model. I've been fiddling with it for several days and it is the worst receiver for connecting components to. Nothing works right. I still don't have sound with my blue ray player. The first one I bought you just plugged everything in and it worked fine. I am sending this one back for another brand.
