    Piece of crap

Bought this because it specifically shows it has the ability to pass through 4K UHD. At first I thought it was the cable however, my hdmi cable is a fiber optic HDMI. So there is no way it could be that. I will simply say this, it does NOT work For 4K HDR. the pass through causes so much signal loss that this is useless for 4K. The audio is good, but everything else is terrible. I put my Yamaha receiver back and would you know it, it works with the same cables and set up, Don’t buy this unit

I've been using my receiver for about 6+ months now. Overall, a very good receiver for the price-point. It has all the bells and whistles such as wifi, bluetooth, chromecast built-in, etc. The sound is very good as well, powers my polk audio surround system well enough. There are only 2 major issues I have with my unit, and I don't know if this is unique to mine, or is a common problem. The first is that the chromecast built-in function doesn't work very well. I was hoping it would eliminate the need for a physical chromecast, but with the connectivity issues I've been facing, I cannot get a stable chromecast connection, better to use the actual chromecast. The second issue I have is that since I use an actual chromecast in the strmbox port, for some reason, the receiver keeps wanting to go to that input automatically. There have been times where I have to fight with the system to stay on cable, and it will keep trying to go back to the strmbox input. I'm guessing this has to do with the auto-switch going to whatever device is "on" and since the chromecast is technically "always-on" it thinks it should switch to that instead of stay on cable. Those are my only 2 issues that I've faced, other than that it's a great unit that performs well and is affordable.

    won't work with Roku

Features are all great. Setup was very easy. Only problem was it won't work with Roku. Seems like they would want their product to work with one of the most popular streaming products. One of the biggest reasons I bought it was to stream videos through one source. Now I have to undo everything and return the receiver. What a waste of time.

    Output Fails

Having tried 3 different units all have the same or similar failure with output, I cannot recommend this unit. Out put to the speakers fails when set to turner on 2 of the 3 units. When set to DVD/Blue Ray, video output to the TV turns off on 2 of the 3 units. So far, UN-plugging and re plugging corrects issue temporarily. Onkyo has not been helpful. Calls to their customer service have not resolved the concern and result in additional cost to me for shipping to an authorized service center. In the mean time I have no product and no expectation that the product will be repaired when it returns. Best Buy has been excellent. They have exchanged the unit under their return policy.

    No Bluetooth

Sound is ok when it comes on. Sometimes have to wait 5 minutes for TV sound to click on. Bluetooth is a total guessing game... Sometimes it will come on in 10 minutes, sometimes not at all ( I have completely given up on trying to listen to music from my laptop ). In the middle of watching a movie it just stops playing sound, sometimes it comes back on... other times I just play a game of pool until I can hear my TV again.

    Makes loud clacking noises

The box itself makes a loud clack noise once every half hour to an hour. This happens in the middle of content and is not related to audio stream switches in any way. It is very distracting and unfortunately I didn’t notice it until after the end of the return period. I wish I would have noticed it before so I could have returned it and gone with a different manufacturer. Best advice is to go with a better brand.
