This receiver does everything as advertised. However there is nothing that makes it "better" than the competition that I can identify. Disappointed with on screen graphics. It looks like something from early eighties or earlier. But not so different from other brands. If it will stand the test of time I will add at least one more rating star! Easy to use and enjoy!

Lip sync is awful; home theater is serviceable.

I purchased this unit to upgrade my home theater setup. The sound staging is very good for movies with 5.1 or atmos. I don't game so I can't speak to its performance in that regard. The lip sync on streaming service is terrible!! My return window is still open, and I will likely return the unit if I can't find a solution to this problem. Onkyo's connectors are archaic. They take much more effort and time than the competitors.

Returned my first one for a failed subwoofer output. Should’ve just got my money back. Exchanged it for another one and after only 4 months the hdmi failed. Won’t output from any source setting.

Negative 5 stars. Easily the worst purchase you could ever make. The company won't support its products. This won't stay on the input selected. In fact, it suddenly now changes to Chromecast when I turn down the volume. When I reselect the cable/satellite, the screen is green. I have to reboot everything and start over. I am tired of resetting this stupid thing to factory settings and going through setup once a month. I hate that they have my money. This is less than a year old, and I want to throw it in front of a bus. Don't buy Onkyo. Best Buy was no help either.

Made the mistake of buying an open box item. There’s a reason it was returned. It didn’t work. The osd didn’t work. I guess it’s a common Onkyo issue. It should have been tested before it was sold again. I had to ship it back. Ended up with a TX-NR696 that works nicely. It was not an open box. The cost saving was attractive but obviously not if it doesn’t work

This is the worst receiver I've ever used. It was a nightmare to even get to work and then if you set up a second zone, it will not connect to the first zone when you switch back. I've spent many hours trying to get it to work at all. Today, I switched to my outdoor speakers then tried watching TV and have spent the last 2 hours trying to get sound. It's ridiculous an now past return point, so...I definitely won't be buying this brand again.

Brought home spent hours on wiring and adjustments with Klipsch speakers, Apple TV, PS5, and LG 4k TV. Worked for one evening now won’t process any sound from any device. As soon as it shuts off and turns back on will not present audio. Have to factory reset each time.
