There are monthly fees but way less expensive than those of other carriers and better dependability. One down fall is that it does not connect to 911 the same as a landline phone. It is through a different call center that must redirect you, so anyone staying at your house will need to be made aware in case of an emergency.

Great Alternative if need home phone

Avoid extra fees phone company charges...Accomplished both. Unit is easy to use and setup, provides reliable "land line" per se and costs less than phone company. Only recommendation is buy unit with the wifi adapter so can place unit anywhere plus free up port on back of modem
