    Well worth the price

I love my ooma system! It was great to kiss att goodbye. Sound quality is not perfect. Tech support took three weeks to respond to my email. I ported my old number and the process was completed in less than 2 weeks. I asked tech support why the ooma system was not ringing on incoming calls and did not get a satisfactory answer. It started ringing when number porting was completed which happened faster than the tech response. All things considered, I highly recommend this system!

the OOMA works as advertised. It was easy to setup and the customer service was very helpful. The tone quality when using the OOMA was similar to a land line. Can't wait to get rid of my telephone company.

    Great option for home phone

I have told many of my friends about the OOMA product. I am thrilled with it. Reception is crystal clear without a phone bill ! VM works better than a land line since it sends an email to me whenever I receive a VM at home. That has worked out very well for me. Somewhat diffiicult for me to understand how to hook it up at home, but I did it. Took about 3 weeks to get my land line number ported over. Well worth the pricey investment.

Great if cost is the object

I switched from Vonage to avoid the annual fee. One add'l "not so great" wouldn't fit below, so here it is: - Since I connected in recommended manner, all my internet traffic goes thru the Ooma device to be prioritized (phones are top). My cable modem is rated for gigabit speed but Ooma is not, so if my ISP ever speeds up service, Ooma will prevent my taking advantage of it.

We have had our OOMA device and service for about 1.5 years and have had no problems. The price of the unit is high, but it easily makes up for it with no monthly service cost.

First unit failed after 1 week.......

My review of the Ooma Telo is clouded by the fact that the first unit failed after one week. None of the keys on the unit would function. Ooma supplied a previous-revision refurbished unit as a replacement, and while this is working OK so far (one week, and counting), I'm concerned about the long term reliability of the Ooma Telo. The voice quality is good, over a cable internet service provider, and I have found the QoS to be better if the Telo is inserted between the cable modem and my wireless router.

Great Device to Lower Phone Bill

Great device to lower your home phone bill if still need a hard line phone. The port charge is under $40.00 if you need to keep your old number and it can take up to 3 weeks to finish the port, but this is dut to the companies involved and not all OOMA fault. It can also work with Fax machines and security systems but requires some setup to make them communicate clearly.

I am Comparing Business VoIP Services and Providers here: http://getvoip.com/ - Does anyone have experience with any of thee providers?

    NICE SYSTEM

This is a great system but what is lacking is the features connected to the telo handsets. They do not allow for added features. Unable to edit contact list, cannot add contacts through website. I would buy different headsets than the telo. Other than that I have had no complaints.

    Not Compatible With AT&T DSL

    Posted .

I was super excited about getting rid of my land line. I'm pretty tech savvy, so I thought this was a no brainer. Not so!! I spent an entire day trying to get this work with AT&T DSL to no avail. The most common AT&T DSL setup across the country is the 2Wire 2701HG-B combination modem/router/wireless gateway (the one sold at Best Buy when you sign up for AT&T DSL service). Anyway, it turns out, that both the Ooma device and the 2wire device both need primary access to incoming DSL signal. Ooma tech support was not helpful at all. Confusing automated phone tree. Long wait. Very poor English speaking technical skills. They can only follow a set decision tree of "help steps." They didn't even seem to understand the concept of a combination modem/router/wireless gateway. Finally, I found several internet "self help" forums, and discovered that many other people had tried Ooma with this AT&T modem with poor/no success. I suggest you google "Ooma" + "your modem/router" before you purchase.

Good Voice Quality but does not support 2 Lines

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Only additional insight I want to give is that this unit does not support 2 Phone Lines. You can set-up multiple phone numbers but it is shared on the same phone line in your house. Or, you could buy a Ooma phone that links to the Telo unit and then you can assign a specific phone number to that Ooma phone (as long as the Ooma phone is within range of the Telo). My VoIP phone service through TimeWarnerCable supports 2 phone lines and looks like I need to port my phone number back to TWC and cut my losses - Just wanted to warn others before you waste your time and money... If you only use one phone line, then I highly recommend this product.

Love Ooma and their products. Was slightly disappointed that a couple of the advertised features, like downloading contacts list directly to "ooma" handset isn't available yet. Other than that - great device, sleek, easy to use, nice to look at.

Ooma really works like it advertises. You certainly can eliminate your local phone company. Pay attention to the instructions and you can be on line in no time. In order for Ooma to perform you must have your modem on all the time.

I never got a chance to use this product because the power connector wouldn't fit into the unit at all. Every time anyone would touch the unit, the adaptor connector would come out.

Poor service, quality less than Vonage?

My first Ooma worked for one day. I set it up at night, made one call, to make sure it worked. The next morning, it had quit working. It set up pretty easily. But when it failed, there was no debugging information. It had just failed. I still had my Vonage phone, so I plugged it into the same network, and Vonage worked fine. I bought this to get rates cheaper than Vonage. Took it back to the store and got a new one. When I asked Ooma for the number I had been assigned previously, they said they would charge me $19.99 for it. They said if I had the phone for 30 days, and it quit working, then they would have given me the previously assigned number. They apparently left me a voice message, but I couldn't make out what they said, because of the sound quality. While someone mentoned the local service, the person serving me by e-mail said they couldn't contact me because of the time, so they sent me an e-mail at about 3 in the morning. I doubt if they live in our time zone. Really disappointed in this system, but since I've paid for it, guess I'll try to live with it, at least until I've broken even. But if I'd known the problems I was going to have, I wouldn't have bought this.

So far so good, have no complaints over standard wired home phone services. Appears to be a good deal.
