This is a good entry level projector that gives you a good picture for a decent price. I have a 150" screen and the picture is great.

    Great resolution/blacks/low noise

So my biggest concerns with this product after reading the reviews was that the fan noise might be distracting. I'm not sure if Optoma addressed it through in manufacturing but my unit is very quiet. I initially purchased an Epson 3220 and it did have significant fan noise although I returned it ultimately given I new I'd soon be missing not having a true HD image. My new Optoma provides that great image not only via true HD but the contrast ratio is superb at this price point - 1: 20,000 looks great! The onboard speaker works just fine for a quick movie in the backyard and I'll additional speakers as needed with the audio out. Only very minor gripes are: the lens cap is poor quality and the remote key lights are extremely bright...like I said, minor gripes but there you have it...all in all a great purchase and sooo glad I picked this one up.

    Excellent projector for the price

This is my second projector. Upgraded from another Optoma that had a native resolution of 1024x768. It worked well but this 1080p native is a lot better. Image quality obviously is a lot sharper - easily noticeable when comparing computer screen text on this and my previous model. For the price you will be hard pressed finding a better projector. It doesn't have as many features compared to more expensive models such as lens shift. Because of this, projector placement is more critical - you can find placement calculators for this online. It only has vertical keystone correction but keystone correction should be avoided. Depending on how critical you are - you will see a loss in detail when using keystone correction. At the $500 price range, I would definitely recommend this projector.

Great projector for low-budget home theatre

Read some recommendations from this site and some other site on the internet so I decided to get this projector. It is an awesome projector. I title my review as low-budget home theater, but nothing low about it. It's just perfect. Picture quality is amazing. My projector screen is a regular sheetrock wall from Menards (cut to fit projection size), paint: Sherwin-Williams Duration Satin Extra White ProClassic Smooth Enamel Satin. The end result is just amazing and the family is loving it.

    Surpassed my expectations

I reviewed several different options for native 1920 x 1080 HD projectors and found that the Optoma HD141X DLP projector offering the best value for the cost. It was very easy to hook up and it displays Blu-Ray movies with images that are wonderfully vivid and bright on a 120" screen from over 14' feet away. Using the 3D DLP Link feature, I was able to purchase 4 pairs of active 3D glasses for about $10 each and was able to watch 3D moviesin my collection instantly with no need for an RF emitter. I'm very happy with this purchase and it surpassed my expectations.

    Great purchase

I bought the product a little before Christmas and it is my first projector so I went cheap. It been about a month and I'm loving this projector . I did read a lot of the reviews before I made the purchase and that helped with my decision. Initially bought to put on a 120" screen but was testing and it took up the whole wall more than 120 inch so I painted the wall while ditched the screen and now I'm looking at a clear 147" screen . Looks great when playing movies , tv , or video games.

Wonderful projector. Goes great with PS4 and HD sat. Remote and 3D outweighed 80" LED for 4Xs the price. Ill never hang a picture on that wall. We watched a blue ray movie and it was crisp. To be my 1st projector is a winner. Ill never be without one now.

Great projector for a small or bigger room

Before deciding on what projector I wanted I took into account where I will have it set up, since I have 2 windows i decided that a DLP would be best for my case. My room is about 12 ft from wall to wall, and have it set up on a shelving unit. At that distance I have a screen size of about 80 inches - 90 inches. I do not need a projector screen as my wall is chalky so there will be minimal to no reflection from the projector. Looks great, clear. Currently I use it to view 1080P movies, Youtube videos, Playstation 4. and look great. During the weekends I would take my projector to my friends house where he has a about a 25 ft wide wall, and 15 ft high and it takes up a majority of that. I get an approximate of about 250 inches on that wall. The wall is some what glossy but it is hardly noticeable when viewing it at night. The picture is great and I do love it. I have not tested the 3D capabilities on the projector so I have no input about it. You would have to purchase the dongle and the Active 3D glasses (Where the 3D glasses are performing it and usually cost about anywhere between $20 to $50 per a set). Though they cost more you will get a better experience, but in any case if I were to get them I will provide an update.

*WONT WORK WITH Lightning Cable/ XFinity Comcast

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The projector itself is very nice. No issues with it as far as performance. Just a warning, if you plan to use it with an iPhone or IPad by way of a Lightning A/V cable, it likely won't work. The XFinity/Comcast software won't recognize the lightning cable and restricts you from projecting it... Stupidest thing I've seen...My plan was to just watch live TV as you normally can with an iPhone or Pad but use the lightning cable to project it onto a big screen.. NOPE.. CANT DO THAT....

    Low quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The image quality is very poor. Very washed out image, can't achieve decent focus at 120". The colors are bad, very saturated, but can't get the correct mix no matter how much calibration you do. Slow, the fast paced video looks smudged until the motions slow down. The center of the image is focused and shows decent picture but the corners are horrible - no detail, no dark objects, no brightness. When scenes change you get a noticeable boost of color, brightness and contrast but then it evens out. After reading other reviews the only thing I did notice on mine was the absolute absence of dark objects. I ran the Dark Night BD on it and it looked really bad: I'd say in a lot of scenes you get maximum of 50% of the image and the rest is not visible. I've tried calibrating with numerous tools and didn't get anywhere. The games don't look good either - you can crank it up all the way to 100% but you wont see the details in the corners of the screens and by corner I mean about 3'x2' area. Really bright images look good. The best quality I got from it was from cartoons on BD but DVDs look really washed out. Best Buy didn't make my experience better by delaying the shipping either :( In my case, I got what I paid for. It's going back and I will have to spare a few extra bucks for the better projector.
