Standard toaster use 2 - 3 for properly and well done toast. Oyster toaster use 1 to 11/2. Four slice ability extremely convenient when grandkids are over.

Uneven Toast
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This toaster toasts but it is pretty uneven. It also appears that the Bagel option isn't working. The Bagel Button on mIne doesn't appear to work. It is my understanding that when the Bagel Button is activated only one side of toaster (the center) should get hot. That way the outside of the bagel stays relatively cool and untoasted while the cut side of the Bagel toasts, mine doesn't do that, it toasts both sides irrespective of the button activation....you get what you pay for, it isn't worth the drive time to return it but I would be looking to spend a bit extra next time

There are separate settings for each side (she likes her toast on the dark side). Can make just 2 slices without heating up both sides. A bonus was the retractable cord, so there's no excess hanging on the back counter. The pull out trays are nice too. The handles are big enough for my dad to push down and as he has a tendency to push the handle up to get to the toast that is also a great feature. They like the toaster and it gets used daily and I have not heard any complaints. I just had to find a different spot on the counter for it because it took up more space than their old toaster. Best price.
