The glass top does not securely twist in to the bottom half. You therefore must firmly use one hand to press down on the top to prevent dislodging. Strange that Oster messed up and lost one star.

I put the same things in my blender (minus the ice cubes) - a few pieces of frozen fruit and some fresh spinach with some milk. It took forever for it to blend and not without stopping it, moving everything around in it with a spoon and starting it back up again. I had to do that 5 times just to get it to blend. I tried almost every setting to get the job done. What a waste. This is a terrible machine.

If your blender is not working proper due to not enough power, it might be because the unit is not getting enough power from the wall outlet where it is currently plugged in or the wall outlet itself is a non working outlet. To remedy this issue, check if there is no physical damage on its cord and if there's none, try unplugging the blender. Let the unit rest for 3-5 minutes. Afterwards, plug it into a different wall outlet. Do not use it with any extension cords, power strips and power converters or inverters as it may affect the blender's performance. Also, make sure that all parts and accessories are properly inserted. Otherwise, it might cause the product not to work properly.

Tip 1: How To Make A Smoothie
For smoothies load your blender from liquids to solids. Star with your liquid of yogurt - be sure you have enough to cover the blades. Then add fresh fruits or veggies cut in 3/4 to 1 inch pieces. And, lastly add frozen fruit or ice.
Tip 2: How To Make A Smoother Smoothie
If you're using a lot of hard fruits and veggies or, a lot of greens in your smoothie, be sure that you pre-blend them with your liquids first - then add in your other frozen ingredients and blend again.
Tip 3: High and Low Setting
The Low speed is ideal for pureeing, pulse chopping, mixing, whipping, creaming. Use the higher setting for more powerful jobs to Blend and Liquefy, Crush Ice, Make Smoothies, Pulse and Chop, Grind, or Shred.

I bought it because Oster blenders are reliable. It's a bit tricky as solid items like ice and things have to go in first. Usually liquids go in first.

Unlike our old one that lasted close to 16 years this blender was DOA when we opened it and washed it to make a salsa. First time I get a brand new item that doesn’t work out of the box. Stay away , I tried getting help from support they are closed , sent a message haven’t heard back. Waste of money .

Returned and now waiting on one that the quality (had flimsy cheap button feel) is better and on sale. I have had zero issues with items from BB, so I hope it wad a fluke.

Will it blend?

Crushing large chunks of ice for your smoothie? Equally no problem. It is a little basic, not very stylish (more of an early 90's look) and plain. But it works, and if your kitchen is for displaying work of art appliances, just keep this under a counter/in a cabinet. The glass is thicker and stronger than I expected- Minor drop test approved. The blades are nice and sharp, getting it apart to clean was a breeze. For those on a budget that want a blender, look no further.
