I know that the bottom of the case is going to break pretty soon. If I could I would return and get another style case.

After my first Otterbox, 2 phones ago, I won't buy anything else to keep my devices protected. They have saved me so much money with just the initial purchase. Fits perfect and keeps it safe.

    Actual "Commuter" Review

Most reviews listed are for the "Defender" so I will write a real commuter review..... This case has thick silicone like the defender and a plastic shell to go over top and side. It comes with a stick on screen protector. As long as you use your brain and actually clean your screen and remove the dust, it works great. **tip** turn off any fans in your room and apply to phone while sitting at a clean kitchen table so there is no lint floating around*** line up the edges perfectly or it will hang off the edge and will bubble up when you put on the case. Happened when I did my wife's, but mine is perfect... Of course.... Once you get it on, it is tough to remove and try again with out jacking it all up, getting finger grease and dust under it. The rubber stays firm around most of it and you can tell your phone is protected. There is a substantial lip over the front of the glass which is nice. I would bet this is same size as defender but without the built in screen protector everyone complains about bc it has opening at home button. My only gripe is the bottom which is why I took off a star. If you look at most other iphone commuter versions, there is rubber and plastic in between the ports at the bottom. Usually they have covers that go in the ports.... Not on this one.... There is a huge oval opening at the bottom with nothing holding the rubber from separating if dropped on the edge of something. Yes you can fit any adapter in the headphone or lightning port bc it will just spread apart like Moses did the ocean.... Looseygoosey.... Overall solid but I am picky with my cases. Mine was on sale for $30. I would not pay more than that. I was disappointed it was not any cheaper online either...

    Best Case for iPhone

In my opinion the Defender is the best case for the iPhone. When I take it out, my iPhone looks brand new. Though the price may be higher than other cases, I have found it to be the only case that meets my expectations, even protecting my phone from everyday wear and tear.

I'm a cautious person, so I'd rather spend a bit more on a protective smartphone cover than pay for repairs later. It's truly a durable case and has saved my phone from various falls.

I bought the new iPhone 5c and needed a case to protect my investment. I did a lot of research and found that this case was highly recommended by many websites. I have purchased other Otterbox cases for my devices and love them too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

    Subpar Spec

The inner plastic shell has a clear plastic shield. While it is a great idea and it appears durable, the shield actually does not touch the iphone screen. The tiny gap is now requiring me to apply force, rather than tapping to launch any app. That's an extreme inconvenience, and I do not want to get used to that. I have submitted a complaint to see what Otterbox would have to say, otherwise I will need to return it.

    Disappointed in otterbox commuter

I recently bought the commuter for my iphone 5c. and was very disappointed. Over all it's a nice looking premium case, but with one major design flaw. The bottom edge of the hard plastic case has been designed out for ease of docking. This sounds like a good idea, but it leaves only the softer rubber part to protect the bottom edge. The rubber has a very loose fit and feels flimsy. It is easily moved away from the phone with the slightest pressure and seems to offer very little protection there. I almost always place my thumb on the bottom edge to manipulate the phone or to move from one hand to the other. Try this: Hold your phone in your left hand with your thumb on the left of the case and then take the phone with your right hand. Now think about where you placed your right thumb. If you put it on the lower edge of the case you do NOT want this case. The lower edge is so loose you can easily stick your finger between the case and the phone. Go to Best Buy and ask the tech to show you the commuter case, even ask them to put it on your phone then pick it up by the lower edge of the case. It feels a little like a rubber band, well not quite, but try it before you buy it and you'll see what I mean. I'm glad I bought this from Best Buy, they were only too happy to let me return it for the Zagg Arsenal. 5 ***** stars for Best Buy. (Here's one note about these reviews, many of them seem to be for the defender. This review is for the Otterbox commuter for the iphone 5c.)

while this case is great for the drop protection, the amount of dust that gets under the screen is highly aggravating, and it takes a really long time to clean it all

Warning - display cover has opening

I've had Otterbox defenders on several phones and devices and have always been pleased with them. My most recent was on my iPhone 5. It was a great case. I lost my phone and it was replaced with an iPhone 5c. So, When I got the new phone I automatically bought a new Otterbox defender case for it. It is not anywhere near the over quality of the iPhone defender case. The worst part is that the display cover has cutouts for the speaker at the top and the home button at the bottom. Ever a few drops of rain or snow plus dust and dirt can now easily get between the case faceplate and the phone display. An unbelievable compromise in the protection of the phone. What was Otterbox thinking when they did this. There are a lot of similar cases that offer the same or better protection for a lot less money.

    Better cases out there

You'll be taking the case apart constantly to clean the screen as dirt gets in BEHIND the screen protector. Kinda defeats the purpose. Got annoying after a month only to find that Best Buy has a 15 day return policy. 15 days! Are you kidding? I overpaid at the box store because I was in a hurry, now I'm stuck with this piece of junk. Buyer beware, return policies will be better elsewhere if you want to test this case out.

Touch screen sets loosely on the phone reducing the accuracy of the touches, swiping, and typing. At the time of purchase, sales associate said they would match Amazon pricing, looked it up "Did not see it" so charged me full retail. I went home and found it on Amazon for less. Their loophole is that it has to be shipped from Amazon. Well, it was being shipped directly from Otterbox and that doesn't count?
