Well this is the first Defender without a screen protector. It's pretty much useless. You could get a 15$ case that would offer the exact same protection if not better. It is NOT a Defender case. It's a 60$ piece of plastic that you have to spend another 45$ to get screen protection. I've been using Otterbox for years and from now on out my family will be using a different brand. Probably Lifeproof.

!!Personally would have rathered a more aethstically pleasing/cheap case over inadequate protection!! Commuter series does not provide sufficient protection for dropping. Dropped from 2 feet off a couch face down (flush too) on laminate and smashed front screen and it wrapped around all the way to the rear glass. Case was properly installed and did not fall into anything. 100 percent.. simple 2 foot drop flush on a flat surface and caused a crack from front screen all the way too rear glass.. Very dissapointed. Been purchasing and advocating for otter boxs for a decade. As far as the s8+ case goes... in my experience it was a waste of 50 dollars and provided sub par impact resistance. This fall should have been easily absorbed. With full understanding the curved s8+ is a difficult phone to protect. This specifc fall should have been easily absorbed. Extend lip a few mm to provide more clearance and decrease the overall flexibility of the hard case. Will prevent bending on face down falls.
