Customers are saying

Customers admire the Defender Pro Series for its excellent protection and ease of use, praising the case's snug fit and high-quality construction. However, some find the case heavy and bulky, and the lack of a screen protector is a common complaint. Other criticisms include the limited adjustability of the stand and the relatively high price point.

(Pros) It's made tough and built to last. Has a stand that's on a separate lil hard shell that you can use to cover your case. It fits like a glove. It's made so you can use your finger print to sign in etc etc. It has an place so you can charge your apple pencil up to the iPad. Still have room for screen protector. Good price when it's on sale and it comes with a warranty. (Cons) The stand is not made on the case it's on the hard shell. It stands straight up when you use the stand and it may tilt over when you use it.

OtterBox is an excellent protective case for an Apple iPad. I have been completely pleased with the protection OtterBox offers to Apple iPads for over 8 years. I was disappointed to discover that the version of OtterBox sold by Best Buy does not include a screen protector. I wanted a screen protector so I did return my purchased item to Best Buy. Phil … in Mesquite, Texas … was very helpful in making the return. A big “Thank You” to Phil for his good old fashioned customer service.

the case is great and offers a really nice fit and protection, but the only thing I didn't like is the included stand - just can't get it to set to the right angle, but I really appreciate the opening for an Apple pencil

I recently purchased the Otterbox Defender case for my iPad Air 5th generation, and I couldn't be happier with the product. The level of protection it provides is truly outstanding. The case feels incredibly sturdy and durable, giving me confidence that my iPad is safe from accidental drops and bumps. One of the standout features for me is the multi-layered design. The inner shell snugly hugs the iPad, providing a cushion against impacts, while the outer polycarbonate shell adds an extra layer of defense. The port covers are also a nice touch, keeping dust and debris out. The built-in screen protector is crystal clear and responsive, offering excellent touch sensitivity without compromising on display quality. It provides an added layer of security for the screen without sacrificing the visual experience. Another aspect I appreciate is the precise fit of the case. All the buttons and ports are easily accessible without any hindrance. The kickstand is a handy addition, allowing for convenient viewing angles, whether I'm watching videos or using it for work. Overall, the Otterbox Defender case is a top-notch choice for anyone seeking robust protection for their iPad Air. Its durability, thoughtful design, and attention to detail make it a standout product in the market. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to safeguard their valuable device.

Very sturdy and easy to put together. Has a good grip without being difficult to move when carried with books, laptop, etc… comes out of the backpack easily but is very strong and will take a drop. No screen protector so that is a separate purchase but there is a raised lip around the whole device so it won’t land on the screen anyway.

I swear by Otterboxes. I work in special education, and have had my Otterbox Defender (older version) thrown on the ground repeatedly, run over by child-sized cars, etc. The ipad is 7 years old and lives on! Of course, it got too old, so enter the new version & the new Otterbox Defender case. Great made product, really protects the iPad without adding a lot of bulk. I like how this one doesn't have a screen protector- it lets you choose if you want to buy a special one, or just go without. I can't imagine not having this case on my iPad!!

I have been an OtterBox fan for a long time, and they have definitely improved with reducing their bulk, without reducing protection. I had this same model on my original iPad Air, and it still looks like it came fresh out of the box. The new model has a nice feature to remove a piece to charge up you pencil when the pencil is not in use, and the base has a slot for the pencil when storing the iPad. My only con is that it doesn't come with the built in screen protector anymore, so I needed to purchase one.

I bought this because I dropped my previous iPad one too many times and this will protect my new purchase. I didn’t really expect to like it as much as I do. However, it is very user friendly. The cover acts as a base to stand the iPad vertically or horizontally. In addition I don’t anticipated having to replace it as often as I did my other one. It’s a little pricey but worth the peace of mind knowing my device is protected from damage. All in all, it was a surprisingly good choice.

Otterbox has recently redesigned their cases including no screen protector. This is a good thing because the old protector faded over time and often did not allow the responsive iPad touch screen to function properly. I purchased this case and then added Zagg's glass screen protector directly to the iPad screen. There are any number of screen protectors available - even Paper Like - which are far superior to the old Otterbox cases with a protector on it. I also give kudos to Otterbox for how they designed the case to make it easy to use the revamped Touch ID sensor. I use both my index fingers for the iPad as this case makes it super easy to use no matter which orientation you hold the iPad while using it. I've been using Otterbox cases since my iPhone 4S and have always found them well suited to protecting their precious (and expensive!) contents. If you're considering one, they are expensive (I paid $85 for this case) but it is well worth it.

Can't ask for better protection for a 12 yo's iPad than this. Fit is great, protection is great. Have to remove one star because there is a removable side piece that allows for the Apple Pencil to be attached, and if you aren't using a Pencil, the piece that covers that section is very loose and distracting. My son just removes it. Otherwise, best iPad case you can get.

This case provides great protection and it it sturdy. It does not provide a protective screen which I do not really need. The apple pencil was very easy to install and the case holds the pencil tightly secure in its place. The only downfall with the case that I do not like at all is the stand, The positions of the stand makes the iPad air too vertical or too slanted. Both of these positions make it difficult to see the screen at a comfortable level. I still may return it because of this, unless I can figure out a way to make the stand work at a better level. Another thing I am not crazy about is the case has two separate pieces, I wish the stand was connected directly on the back of the iPad air protective case instead of on a separate plastic tray.

The pencil door is designed to come off. Otherwise it would break. Perhaps, the design isn't ideal but it’s hard to see how it could be better. For a defender series, it's actually rather sleek. It's just overpriced.

This case is extremely sturdy, but it’s also bulky and heavy to carry around. It would also be nice if the viewing angle of the stand could be adjusted, as the only position available is ridiculously steep.

I chose this case because of the Otter Box on my phone. It works great and is easy to hold and has already survived several drops. The front cover/display stand is only used when I travel as it adds weight.
