Only recommend heavily discounted. Not water resistant (as I had hoped), something especially important if you're using your iPad in the field as a rugged laptop/ tablet (as I like to). Door on the side of the case for the Apple Pencil is very flimsy and falls off to the point that its better to just keep it off. (I use the gen 2 Logitech crayon for battery durability so there's no place to put it anyway). The original design of the product clearly wasn't intended for the new generation of iPads and needs a total refresh. Rubber protection will definitely defend it from drops and is very rugged in that sense. However it makes the case incredibly heavy, which is a tradeoff to consider for backpacking.

Great concept, horrible implementation!

I had to watch a YouTube Video on how to do it. There is no screen protector but a giant cover that you need to remove and snap onto when it opens; got a stand.

However, it only supports one viewing angle in either portrait or landscape mode. The viewing angle is nearly straight up (90 deg) and is too steep for comfortable viewing. This is a deal breaker!
