I have been using Otterbox to protect my devices for some time now. The great thing about this case is that it really protects the iPad. This is perfect for someone like me who tends to drop things. I like the fact that it comes with a built-in screen protector and has a cut out in the back that displays the Apple logo. On the con side......The price is a bit steep but I guess you can justify it because of the level of protection it provides. The built-in screen protector does not fully let you appreciate the iPad's retina display as it tends to make the screen slightly blurry. The case does add some weight to the iPad, which is not a problem for me but might bother some people. Bottom Line, if you are looking for a case that will absolutely protect your investment, then the Otterbox Defender Series is a great choice.

Screen on IPad shattered 2 weeks after putting defender case.

We recently bought the iPad Air and wanted to protect it. So, we spoke to the salesperson at Best Buy and decided to purchase this case. After putting it on we realized that we couldn't adjust the volume because the buttons didn't align with the buttons on the case. Very disappointing.

Overall extremely satisfied with the new defender series iPad case. It is a much tighter fit than their first model. it was pretty easy to put on and makes the iPad feel more robust and durable. I am not worried about damaging my new iPad. The only negatives I have are that it does make the iPad a little heavier and bulkier which some people may not like. The only thing it does not have is a back flap for docking access like the first model. I simply just use the case stand with it and plug it in when I use it at my desk. Worth every penny.

This was recomended to me by the clerk at the Apple Store when I bought my IPAD. They don't sell them there but he said he recomends them for all IPADs. I have one on my iphone I love, so I took his advice. As others have said it is bulky and you can't use it with a dock, so if you plan on docking it, I would recomend avoiding this product. I travel a lot and it's great added protection in my backpack. I also like that the lid can be used as a stand, very convenient when watching videos on it when in a flight. The instructions are awful. A bunch of diagrams I couldn't figure out on my own and had to look online until I finally saw a sight that walked me through it. Once I found the video it was easy to install. I like that unlike the Iphone otterbox, the screen protector is in the case so you don't have a shield to install and deal with. The price is a little high, but compared to the price of replacing an ipad if you drop it....

I'm a huge believer in Otter Box - I've had their cases on my Nexus One, iPhone 4, Galaxy Nexus, and now my iPad. Like everything else I've owned of theirs, the iPad case is rock solid, offering total protection, and adding grip to a device that is otherwise easily dropped. My only gripe about the case is, because the way the stand is integrated into the lid, when it's snapped to the back of the case, or covering the front, it makes the whole thing pretty bulky, especially compared to how svelte the iPad is sans case. I'd like to see them release a standalone lid that doesn't have the stand. That being said, when you are investing $400-830 in an electronic device, it's probably a good idea to protect it as best as possible, and I certainly feel this does the job.

Screen protector does not adhere to screen so it causes bubbling

This case is only 1 and a half yrs.old and it's breaking up,and has not been abused.I thought it was suppose to last a lifetime.Certainly hope my lifetime is more than 1 and a half.Thats the reason i spent so much on it,thinking it would last

Think the Otter case is great for what I need it to do. I have the New ipad, it fits it great. The few things I don't like the bulk and the extra weight i can deal with. But the the adapter for transferring in picture is hard to get passed the case. Once it is in you have to let go lightly or pops out. This part is a pain to deal with.

I purchased this Otter box after learning my lesson and dropping my iPad while it was in another, less protective case and having the screen crack. $250 for the iPad replacement and $100 for the Otter box later and I have purchased myself piece of mind. The otter box literally encapsulates the iPad and fully protects it from drops. The case, however, is a bit bulky and fairly expensive when you consider its nothing more than plastic. BUT...it'll be a well spent $100 to know your iPad is protected. So protected, in fact, that the otter box is actually really difficult to remove - make sure to clean your iPad before putting it inside, it'll take a while to get it out next time!

I bought this knowing my kids would probably play on it. It was worth every penny. No scratches n the screen. Still looks brand new almost a year later. Price point was just a smudge high at $100 but worth it.

Otterbox makes the best cases, hands down. The built-in screen protector is great, although it would be nice to have an anti-glare feature that you can get from other iPhone screen protectors. This case is a bit expensive, but it's worth the protection of an expensive device.

The case is slightly redesigned for iPad 3 and it is very easy to put on. The coverage is the same as for the iPad 1 & 2 as it provides absolutely perfect coverage for all parts of the iPad. The stand is nice and lets you place the iPad in portrait or landscape mode. If you need 100% protection on your new device 24 x 7, this is definitely the case to buy. I use Otterbox brand for all of my electronics and have been 100% satisfied with everything they've put out. You definitely pay for what you get.

If you truly require total protection, Otterbox has been and still is the best you can get. I had the first Gen iPad with the Otterbox case and literally traveled the world with it. It was great. The new case is improved in that it is smaller, has a better built in stand and a screen cover like the iPhone cases. The only downside is, the screen protector does (just like the iPhone cases) deteriorate the stunning beauty of the retina display. Seriously, it greatly affects crispness of the display. But if you want total protection, this is the case to own. On the issue of the magnets in the lid... Mine don't work. They do nothing. According to my iPad settings, it is set to wake up and sleep with the magnets but it does nothing. I will check into this further but I'm not too concerned either way! If you want the best protection, buy this case!
