I purchased this iPad cover for my iPad2. I have two children who like playing games and watching movies on my iPad so I wanted to make sure that I provided the best coverage possible for it. Otter Box makes the best products available as far as protection & durability are concerned. My husband & I have Otter Box covers on our iPhones and now our iPad too, and I wouldn't trust anything else. The cover is pricey but then again, so it the iPad it's protecting so it's well worth the investment. The only drawback is the cover is a little heavy but it's well worth the trade off of making sure my equipment stays safe from destruction.

This is the second one of these that we have purchased. The first one lasted 3 years before the edges started to get worn and come apart. It was well used and the iPad is still like new despite being toted in a backpack daily and on several trips across the U.S. Provides great protection and at a decent price. Highly recommend.

This is a great cover for those who don't want to baby their iPad, or better yet for those who have children and want to allow them to use it without worrying about it getting damaged. It has a good fit and finish. It is easy to wipe down, especially the small fingerprints that always seem to have sticky foodstuff. The ports are easily accessible , just flip out rubber protective flaps. It doesn't detract from the look of the tablet.

Between my kids and my wife and I we have had 5 iPads in the last few years. One iPad 2, two iPad 3's, and just bought two new iPad 4's w/ Retina. By far the Otterbox is the best protection you can buy for your iPad. The iPad version, in my opinion, is superior to the iPhone version and previous iPad versions. The outer rubber cover fits tight and does not feel loose or pull from the plastic shell beneath. For ultimate protection (besides not being waterproof) you can't go wrong with it. My kids (3, 6, 8) have dropped theirs hundreds if not thousands of times in the last year and it has never been damaged. Highly recommended.

So far I love this case, and I have no complaints, besides the price, I think it's a great investment to keep your iPad safe, but I figured this was the best way to go because instead of buying one quality screen protector for $30, I'd rather buy a case that comes with a screen protector already, and not have to buy another and feel like I'm just throwing my money away when it comes time to purchase a new one!! A one time purchase of a hundred bucks in my eyes, is piece of mind! I would recommend this if you can shell out the money for it!

We love the otter box it is very protective and has a hard case that snaps over the front of the iPad when not in use. The cover also acts as a stand for the iPad for hands free operation. Great for movies and pictures. The button on the front to return to the home screen is a little harder to push than I like. But over all it is a very good and needed purchase to protect your iPad. Also it comes with a built in screen protector. Best Buy price matched the best price I found on line and we saved about $40.00.

I bought this after dropping my iPad & having to get it replaced at the Apple Store, where the tech recommended the OtterBox Defender. It's suppose to protect the iPad from damage, but I've not dropped my iPad since I placed it in the OtterBox. It's heavy, a bit bulky, but it does allow for the same soft touch on the screen. Also, my iPad no longer fits in the sleeve (with carry handles) that I have for it, & the OtterBox does not come with any type of carry handle. If you're not a klutz, skip this beast; if you're prone to accidents or have young kids using your iPad, it's probably not a bad investment, plus it's cheaper than replacing a broken iPad.

I bought this case bc I had an otterbox for my iPhone. It really easy to install but very difficult to remove... Don't leave a indepent screen protector on it or the screen will look blurry.....only prob is when I squeeze it between folders the backing can get scratched. Overall best protection

A friend recently donated an iPad to my class of 8th graders in the South Bronx. iPads are so delicate and kids can be rough on items and so i knew i needed something sturdy and reliable for protection. I reviewed both the Otterbox and the Griffin Survivor. I ultimately decided on the otterbox because the stand seemed better -- although the protection on both seemed equally as good. However, sometimes I need to set the kids up to watch a math video on the ipad and so the stand sold me.

When I bought my pad I was to cheap to buy a decent case, was I wrong! If you travel a lot or use your iPad outside of the home or office frequently the Defender is so worth it. All the ports are sealed so no dust gets in and the built in screen protector is actually pretty nice. Without something like this you will eventually be paying way more when you replace your screen.

The case is very durable. Has a built in screen protector. I bought it for when I allow my children to use the iPad. The stand/ cover case is very nice set the iPad viewing angles in many different types of positions. Also it puts the iPad in sleep mode automatically when you switch the stand to cover the screen. Best case on the market right now for the iPad. The home button is a little hard to push to activate while in the case. But not that bad where its a problem.

I bought the case for the ipad 2 and it worked fine. I decided I wanted the new ipad and this case would only work when I put the shield on upside down. I called Otterbox and they are sending me a new shield so that it will work with the new ipad--the magnets are in the wrong place. Just call them and they will replace the part. I love this case. It does make your ipad heavy and bulky,but I feel safer carrying around my ipad.

Forgot my 'new iPad' on back of car when my baby girl almost jumped out of her car seat. Drove off and it fell off the car in middle of road where someone ran it over before stopping to pick it up. Thankfully he was able to open it up and got my 'Find my iPad' message and returned it. So I can say from experience this case can save your iPad from being car with only minor scratches and pant transfer. Not sure a protection product could get a better review.

As noted in another post, the magnets will put your iPad 3 in sleep mode. The hardshell cover/stand has an otterbox emblem which when covering the iPad screen should be placed on the end of the iPad with the home key & charge port. When placed on the camera end of the iPad, it will not enter sleep mode. Screen resolution through the screen protector is really great. Of course, in sunlight at various angles the view is altered as is without any screen protector. Feel free to remove the screen protector if you like. However, you will be vulnerable to dirt/grit entering the case and potentially damaging your beautiful device. I have the Otterbox Defender for my iPhone 4s as well. I am truly happy with the view of my retina displays on both devices through the Otterbox screen protectors. As with all cases, an occasional disassembly for cleaning will be required periodically. However, with the Otterbox Defender line, all my devices have been scratch/ blemish free! I can not say the same for other cases used on my iPod touch devices.

product is very good at protectiong the ipad. it is pricey but does what it is supposed to do. difficult to remove when ipad needs cleaning.

I bought this case when I bought the new iPad. It does add some weight and bulk but if you are looking for 100% protection you could really care less about those two things. At least with me.

This case is very sturdy and provides great protection. The case adds weight to the iPad as expected. The main problem is the built-in screen protector. The screen distorts the retina display and causes a grainy appearance, which is most noticeable on white backgrounds (such as email). The protector's affect on the display is the issue that prevents me from recommending this case. I finally got the stand/screen cover to auto shut-off/on the display by turning it upside down with the Otterbox name at the top. Apparently, the magnets are not properly polarized for the new iPad. I find the stand to be very handy.

I have an otter box defender series for my iPhone and now for my iPad. I feel there is not a better product out there plus Otter box stands behind their product. The only problem I had was the purchase price In Topeka Kansas. I found the exact product online from Amazon at half the price and ask Best Buy if they would match it. The salesmen said it was not the same product but he could not tell me what the difference was. I went to a Kansas City Best Buy and they agreed it WAS the same product after matching the skew number. The numbers were an exact match and they matched the price from Amazon.

I will never buy an Apple product without buying an Otter Box case for it. My son has spilled drinks on the iPad, but the case saved it! It is easy to clean, and well worth the money with all of the potential repairs it saves me from having to pay for!

I use this product to take my IPAD to military training and rough environments. It gets stuffed into a backpack and I don't have the luxury of being gentle. Over the past three weeks, it has performed above expectations. I highly recommend this product if protection is your primary concern.
