The case is very durable. I throw my iPad around like a frisbee.

When I first got my OtterBox defender series I was surprised how much it was. When I first put it on I could see why it cost so much, it is super protective. the only bad things about it are the silicon on the back of the case scratches very easy which reveals scratches and does not look very pleasant, the other thing is that screen protector. I love the screen protector it's just it makes the iPad's retina display very blurry. The whole reason I bought the new iPad was to have the retina display. the screen makes it look very Dull and blurry, and attracts oil very well. The stand is great it's great for watching movies and typing. it's also good for a second layor screen protector. overall I give the product a 4, although the case is very protective the back scratches easy and the screen protector makes the screen very blurry.

PROS--I love both the 3rd Gen. i-Pad AND the OtterBox Defender Series Case. Excellent protection (who wants to pay for another one when grandma's favorite family portrait falls on the i-Pad screen with it's elaborately, heafty frame with such sharp corners?) The third pro is that it is....almost....waterproof. CONS--The instruction manual, all visual I might add, was confusing as hell. Why? In order to be able to follow this manual, you would have to tear the box completely apart (hate to do that, might be defective). At that time, you would discover to your exasperation I so totally found. Why??? For the instructions I had to go on the website and search around. There were no relevant instructions on the website to search endlessly for the one needed for your project Eventually, you just give up and figure it out yourself. It is next to impossible to disassemble the case. An almost NON-CON--although it is next to impossible to disassemble, you CAN reassemble it easier. I vowed I would NEVER use such an unintuitively designed product. But I have, I'll have to put up its idiosyncracies. I just hope this plastic monstrosity is worth it. It really is an excellent product to encase and protect your expensive electronic, mandatory grocery list, appointment, address book, phone list, jewelry inventory, etc

This case is amazing. They really improved upon the 1st gen case for the iPad and even the 2nd gen. case. I have the New iPad (3) 64GB Wifi + 4G AT&T. I needed something to protect this. It's expensive, but I used a 10% off coupon, so I got it for $90. I sold my 1st Gen. iPad for $360 (64GB Wifi Only). So I figured I should stick with some of the best cases out there. If you travel or use this besides in your home, get this case. It's worth the extra $$. Trust me, this will keep your New iPad 3 safe.

Provides much better protection for iPad than SmartCover but is heavy and bulky. It is also a little expensive and the built-in screen protector reduces screen clarity. Started out with light weight SmartCover and Zagg screen protector. Smart Cover became easily seperated during use and did not provide much protection if iPad used by a child. Wanted more protection, so replaced SmartCover with OtterBox. Otterbox screen protector on top of Zagg caused iPad screen to be "very" unclear. Best Buy rep helped remove Zagg, and screen clarity now much better!. BOTTOM LINE: If you want protection; don't get SmartCover & Zagg - get the Otterbox.

This is the 9th apple product my house hold has purchased and all the products are in otter box cases and all are in like new condition. Trust me when I say kids can do wonders to electronics or a delicate iPad. Well my 3 year old son has a otter box on his iPad, he"s dropped it tons of time. This product hold up wonderfully. That's why I bought this otter box cover for my I pad. You should be able to find this product cheaper at other stores. I did, best buy did a price match got it for 56 dollars, thanks best buy. Very happy with that price since it was the cheapest I could find it. And u can't beat the quality of an otter box product.

I previously sent a review for the wrong item. I love the 3 way stand on this item. The Invisable shield that I incorrectly reviewed is a great accessory and really enhances the colors as well as protects the screen.

After reading several reviews that say it affected the image quality I was concerned. After installing the iPod into the case it was apparent that there is a screen protector in place but not to the point of being a problem. It's like this, either enjoy the retina display without protection or use something like this case or another type of screen protector. I was quite dismayed that the same case is available at other local (national chain) stores for up to 15 dollars less than the BestBuy price. Other than to offer a word of advice to shop around, this is going to add bulk to your iPad however for me it's worth it. We work in an environment that is dangerous to electronics and thus far it's done a great job of protecting it's contents. I suggest getting the OtterBox Latch as it does a good job of giving you options on carrying the iPad. The Latch doesn't work well on a nekked iPad and as OtterBox says..use either a commuter or defender case!

I recently brought this case because of the durability of this case. I also had seen videos online (youtube) giving good reviews on this case. I had also brought a belkin keyboard case as well but I knew that case was good for the bluetooth keyboard which I can detach from the case. I just purchased this case today I love the fact that this has many components to it that way it won't just fly out of the case and become damaged. This case has front and back snap on case but hard to get off, then the shock absorb part that goes around the case and then the last part to keep it sturdy.

A year and a half ago I dropped my ipad 2 which was in a leather case inside another carrier made especially for an iPad. The screen cracked. No worries with this product. Would have given it a 5 star if it was not for the price.

Excellent case for the iPad for someone who is looking for protection against just about any situation except water. Built-in stand in the cover is nice, especially if your watching movies or typing emails with a wireless keyboard. You won't be disappointed.

Great case...EZ to install and with the built in screen protector and the portable stand...its the only way to go... I LOVE IT!!!!

Great case for my tablet, a little bulky, but I feel that the iPad is protected well.

I purchased this for my grandson and have not actually seen it but he loves it and is having no problems. It is supposedly tricky to install but no problems with magnets lining up or blurry screen like some complaints. Too pricey at this site but he got it in a few days. Half the cost with no tax, no shipping and most of all no hassles. The screen protector is solid and not plastic, no issues. The fix is to brighten the screen before attaching but they didn't need to do it.

it took a few weeks to get used to the bulkiness. I like having the protection so the trade-off works for me.

This is a very nice product it wll protect your IPad completely. I tried the Griffin Survivor first but wasn't impressed with the quality and I couldn't use it in landscape mode with the built in stand. Otterbox can be used in both views and having a snap on cover to go on the front or back is a very nice option. It is worth the difference in price.

Otterbox Defender for iPad seems to be the most serious defense for a delicate and precious commodity. The screen is protected without the peel-off sheets, yet touch sensitivity is not significantly affected. As with the iPhone cases before, the Defender protects from the elements, drops, jostling inside backpacks, and etc... The face protector serving as a stand is a nice and helpful surprise!

When it comes to case, you can not beat Otterbox. Yes, this case makes the IPad 4 a little thick for my taste, but I loved this case so much I got the same kind when I got the IPad Air 2. The case is so good, my IPad 4 fell off the roof of my car and survived without a single scratch or issue. Don't wait, don't read anymore, just get it!!!

I have had Otterbox Defenders for the original IPad, the iPad 2, and now the new iPad.....so this is the third version I have owned. I will say that this version is definitely a step up from the last version. I am glad to see that they integrated the screen protector into the case as they do with iPhone cases. However, in the same token they have cut corners by leaving out small things like the nice little microfiber cloth that came with the first version. The two major issues I see with this version are as follows: they talk about the magnets that are in the face cover and that it is suppose to put your iPad to sleep when it is put on the front...it does not, which is sort of a disappointment since I thought that I would have a function similar to the smart cover. Secondly, this is $10 more at Best Buy then it is directly from Otterbox...kinda ridiculous.
