While the extra layers on the Defender do a lot in terms of added protection, we completely understand that sometimes, they make the unit feel larger than life. If you're looking for something that is a bit slimmer, we do offer a few different case designs for that device. Simply call our friendly Otters at 1-855-688-7269, and they'll be happy to walk you through some options!
As for the stand, this case should actually include a shield stand which also serves to prop up the iPad. If your order did not include that feature, we would recommend contacting Best Buy for further clarification. Happy Until My Screen Cracked

The screen cracked all the way across. It has survived some small drops, but you don’t purchase a high dollar OtterBox case to have it break after one big drop. I would not recommend this case.

This case was to have been designed for the 5th & 6th generation iPad. Nothing lined up - speaker openings were not located correctly. Returned item to store without an issue.

It is worth the money to protect the expensive iPad. The black color is boring. There is screen protector with this set. It is plastic so it protects from fingerprints. I don’t think you need more than that unless you are super heavy user or have children. Mine has always protected the occcasional drop. The stand is useful when cooking from recipe or if you need an extra hand.
