After the second repair (which HE paid for...), I required him to use an OtterBox, thinking that was the best protection available. I am sad to report that although he made it longer this time (2 months rather than 2 weeks), he has another crack in his screen - which he will have to live with. He's a teenager, but he's not abusive toward the phone - I expected better protection for the bulkiness and the price :(

We apologize for any confusion with our product offerings, but that OtterBox Defender does come standard with the built-in screen protector. As it looks like you definitely wanted a belt clip/holster, and the Defender is our only case with that feature, so we might suggest that you remove the screen protector if your preference is for a case without one. If you remove your device from the case, you will find that you are able to peel the screen protector away from the lid with just a fair amount of force. Worth the price

I did ask for some help from an associate and this girl was very happy to help and helped me choose what would be best for me.

I'm finding the screen protector more friendly than even the one on the lifeproof case.
