It really protects the phone.I was told you can drop your phone on the floor and it will not brake-well I tried and it really does protect it.

I had a small piece break off at connection point. Had to go buy a new otterbox rather than company replace it. First one lasted 3 years but at $50 a pricey replacement.

We actually design these to be able to break away so that people don’t get hung up in precarious situations. We have to walk the line of strength vs safety for the situations that could have some more serious consequences. Extreme Protection for iPhone

You can put on the side on your belt during work or when your busy. Only down side it's that it makes the phone a little bigger but it protects it from almost everything.

He has to have a phone with a clip because he hates having his phone in his pocket. In the past when his clip broke, he called otterbox and they mailed him a new one for free which is great customer service.
