Choosing not to have the built-in screen protector seems like lazy design to me...they could have done this pretty easily, but instead chose to force me into purchasing another $18 product to supplement this one. Additionally, the rubber cover over the charging port is terribly designed. Not enough room to get your fingertip under the flap to open it, combined with being too tight, make it difficult to open. This is not a $55 product...maybe $40. Don't pay full retail, especially if you buy a screen protector!

We apologize that you're not loving the screenless style of the Galaxy Note 8 Defender series! We intentionally decided to forego the traditional built-in screen protector of past Defenders in order to maintain complete access to that curved infinity display. Rest assured, this case should still be a perfect balance of full device functionality and epic protection!
As for the charge port door, while the rubber on a brand-new Defender can be a little stiff at first, after some time and use, it should start to relax and move more comfortably. It didn't work with the tempered glass screen protector I tried. It pushes it up at each corner. Disappointed in that regard. That said, I'm not using this case anymore
