The layers of plastic that sandwiched the Zagg protector was stuck to each other and the Zagg protector lifted off the screen when I tried to pull the outer layer off.

We're so sorry to see that your Galaxy S8+ retained some damage while working together with the Defender series. Truly every effort is put forth to ensure that the Defender provides the best device protection available, but unfortunately, every drop falls prey to myriad different variables, some of which are beyond our scope. While our cases are pretty tough, we cannot always guarantee that they will eliminate all exposure to risk.
Our warranty is not transferable to the Samsung device itself, but we would still love to get you into a brand-new OtterBox in the event that your current case was also somehow jeopardized during the incident. If you only use the plug in jack for the charger it will work fine but they failed to tell me this when I purchased it.
