True, we intentionally decided to forego the built-in screen protector on this version to accommodate for the curved infinity display. Quality is good, but not necessarily the best value. There are many good alternatives for far le$$. I buy Otterbox when it offers the right solution, but their products are prone to break over time just like the competition. You choice: spend $20 every 6 months for the competition or spend $40-50 every 8 months for Otterbox.
