Dropped it at just the right angle and it shattered

I put this on my phone and it made it too bulky and heavy.

The pursuit is a visually appealing case that unfortunately doesn’t live up to the requirements of a 21st Century phone user. If you need to remove the case, good luck doing so without breaking it.

Bought this case for iPhone XS. Difficult to install and it will not allow mute button to be operated while in the case. Terrible design. I returned it and got another identical one. Same problem. Design defect. Called Otterbox and they said that what Best Buy is selling for XS model is not what you get from Otterbox. Otter box sent me a replacement at no charge and it has a cut out for the mute button. Just installed my XS and not only was the case easier to get on, the mute button works flawlessly. I thought it would be like the lifeproof case. It is not. Hard to put on correctly without bending the tiny plastic tabs, and the ridiculous rocker switch thing that never works. Awful case.

I love otter box, but this product is not good. People can not hear you when the case is on. Otter box has been really good about replacing the case, but the case has the same issues.

It was difficult to use the volume buttons and the silent switch when the phone was in the Otter Box. I ended up getting a new case for the phone.

While this case does protect your phone from drops the sleep/wake switch doesn’t seem to work half of the time. Also, volume switches are difficult to press

Great company - bought a commuter style case and loved it for my iPhone 7. So my iPhone X - I figured I’d stay with a good company. I though I liked it until after second drop and having to snap case back on. The rubber ring (attached to the top piece) didn’t set well and ripped very easy. Also, I had multiple calls go “dead” on the other side - they couldn’t hear me but I heard them. I returned it for full refund and got a speck and love it

Otterbox claims this case is even more protective than their Defender. I hope not to test that, although I have found their products, including the Defenders I've used for many years, to live up to their promised capabilities. In terms of fit and finish, the Pursuit has already exceeded my expectations. The fit is precise and the materials appear to be top quality. In combination with the Belkin glass screen protector installed at the store, the whole assembly looks as if it came this way straight from the manufacturer. I watched the installation video on the Otterbox website, and I recommend anyone using the case for the first time do the same. This case protects all components of the phone other than the front speaker (in the notch). The bottom stereo speakers, and, I assume, the microphone, sit behind an acoustic membrane that keeps out water and grime. Instead of just covering those components, like other well-sealed cases, the Pursuit channels the sound to the front. You can see the soundports at the bottom of the case in pictures. I believe this is the only case that does this, and it has the potential to improve on the iPhone X's already superior sound, rather than potentially muffling it, as with other sealed cases, or leaving them exposed like the cases that protect only from impacts. It adds some length to the case, but I think it's worth it. The lanyard is a nice feature for those of us who like them. It's up to you to install it, but the case must be open to do it, so you'll want to decide before putting the case on the phone. The tolerances on the case are quite precise, so the fit between the two pieces, frame and back, is very tight. I think this design assumes the owner will not be often taking it off and putting it back on. I'm sure it would loosen up over many cycles, but that would compromise the protection. The point here is that it's difficult to pull the pieces apart after removing the case from the box, and requires some force to get them back together once the phone is in place, much more than is apparent in the Otterbox video. You wouldn't want to do it more than necessary, and can expect that the case is designed to be put in place and left there. On the clear back I can see a thin crescent of contact at the edges of each of the three corners opposite the camera. So the fit is tight, but it's the one aspect of the case I wonder about should the phone fall right on one of those spots. On the other hand, if the back didn't make contact it wouldn't hold the phone; and those three points, combined with the seal around the camera, make for a very stable configuration. Otherwise, the back of the case sits away from the back of the phone, a great way to use the flexing of the material to absorb energy from impacts. I find all of the switches and buttons work perfectly. The tiny silent switch high on the left side of the phone is actually easier to use with the Pursuit's sealed switch cover, as it provides a larger, rotating lever. It's important to install the case in accordance with Otterbox's instructions, a la the video, or you might not get it to work. My only real concern with the case is the shallow depth of the perimeter around front and back. The phone is recessed within the case, and therefore protected, and every design represents a compromise between protection and usability. I just might like half a millimeter more to keep the front screen and rear camera a little farther from potentially damaging collisions. In front, the glass screen protector puts the surface that much closer to the level of the case front. I may be too finicky here, and, as with the rear corner contacts mentioned above, it's possible there's no legitimate worry. Still, if it were up to me, I'd add that half millimeter front and back, and put internal pads at those corner contacts. Nevertheless, so far the Pursuit strikes me as being the best designed, most solid, and most functional case I've ever used. It could come in more colors, as the design is otherwise bland looking, but in terms of function and protection for your absurdly expensive, miniaturized 2001: A Space Odyssey monolith, I doubt you can do better.

I have been satisfied with otterbox products with past protection. This one is already showing signs of wear after having it less than one month. I am very careful with my things and do not abuse the things I work hard for. Just concerning that this is what I decided to protect my iPhone X with 256 worth of memory. Just a poor otter box item and will not recommend to anyone else to buy.

Does not seem as durable as the lifepruf cases, but still better drop protection than most cases

This product scratched very easily and corners started breaking which I’m very easy on my phone and cases.

For the price, I needed this to be better. The vibrate button is always stuck.

I bought this case and had the bestbuy team put it on. long story short it took 3 team members to seal the backing of the case and near the mute switch theres some fancy dial muter, well that clear plastic that locks into the lip case was all smashed up. I had to exchanged for a next lifeproof and looks much better and less hassle.

I purchased this case knowing Otterbox’s history of making great cases. Unfortunately, this case is a bit different. The mute toggle for this phone doesn’t always work and it is a problem for me at work so I literally have to turn off my phone at work.

Purshased and have already replaced under warranty and the second one didn’t work either! The switch to put the phone on vibrate/silence doesn’t work! Bad design! Will not get another one!

Waste of money, side silence button doesn’t work, rubber piece off bottom broke off, slips and slides constantly. Worst otterbox product I’ve ever purchased.

The design for the toggle switch on the side does not work. I returned it to the store and they told me they had been getting a lot of these returned.

This otter box case is horrible iv had to go back and return two of them they keep breaking on me cheap plastic obvisouly wouldn’t protect my phone
