There were 2 main complaints for the Otterbox Pursuit. #1 The mute function: Some reviewers were saying the mute function was a bad design, impossible to use, etc. If you watch the less than 2 minute instructional video on YouTube and install it correctly (which is VERY east btw) there is no flaw. Mine works perfectly every time. #2 The speaker sound channels: There were a couple of reviews that said the integrated sound channels effected sound quality while making calls. I haven’t found this to be true at all. I’ve switched phones with my wife and very carefully listened for any sound quality issues. There weren’t any. On top of no call quality issues, the speaker channel design is awesome. It directs the sound at you, which IMO is freaking brilliant! Overall this case is by far the best Otterbox case I have ever owned. If people would just do a little bit of research and use this product as intended, they wouldn’t be having any issues with it. By the way, I am not a Bestbuy or Otterbox employee. I get nothing for this review. I’m just tired of reading negative reviews for a product that is wicked awesome! It’s a bit more expensive then the Otterbox Defender case but dude, you just bought a $1000 phone, spend the extra $20 and get yourself the best case out there.

Also, it is difficult to apply or remove and does not offer good drop protection. The case has some good sound quality, however. Save your money and select the Otter Box Commuter case.

Great looking case but mute switched is bad

I like the Otterbox brand so i returned this and got the Commuter series which protects my phone but doesn't provide as much protection as this series.

WONDERFUL CASE

I have a glass protector on it that fits perfectly. I've dropped my phone twice on a hard floor with this case on and it was just fine. The case is so sturdy. I just wish there were more colors since I'm a girl. Overall, wonderful case.

I have removed the case and tried to reset it back in place. The mute will not always catch when you flip the switch either direction. This is a frustration to me and when I need it to be on mute.

The mute switch design is terrible. It never catches on and I have literally twist it 360 degrees to try and get lucky for it to switch to mute and vice versa. Makes it very annoying. I will probably have to return. Major flaw. The little switch piece also falls out very easily.

Greatest Case, Bad Button

The problem is the mute button just like many reviews have said. I know it is installed properly as I had a tech install it. Also tried different ones to make sure they all worked the same. After 4 months I am done with this case because of the mute button. One needs to transition to vibrate and ring on a day to day basis. It requires all kinds of tricks for it to work. Great case, terrible mute button.

Buy Another Case

Then I finally managed to unhinge it and as i was pulling the clear back part of the case off, it cracked... All because it was insanely hard to separate the case to actually put your phone in. Now I have to go back and return this case. I will not be exchanging/getting another one.

One of the little snaps on the one I purchased isn't molded correctly and therefore renders the whole case useless. Will be returning tonight. A lot of expensive messing about...

Not sure about it being the most protective!!!

I really like the case and I didn’t have a problem getting the mute switch to work. I’m not sure about the drop protection the back of the case seems flimsy like it won’t protect the phone if dropped on the back, also the lip around the screen doesn’t seem like it’s going protect the screen if the phone is dropped face first!!!!!

ITS NOT JUST THE CASE, ITS THE COMPANY

The rubber ring on the inside of the case keeps popping onto the phone. The rubber rings that protect the speakers also move and prevent people from hearing you. I tried to get this resolved through otterbox and they told me that it would cost me 7 dollars to ship a new case to me. I cant understand why as a company you would make me pay a fee for a defective case? This is just poor customer service. I will no longer purchase products from otterbox.

We can assure you that it's not typical for any of the rubber pieces to become loose. As one of our most protective cases, it does include vents over the speakers to prevent the entrance of dirt and dust, but we designed it to allow for crystal clear sound.
While we do not charge for the replacement itself, we do require a shipping and handling fee on all warranty requests, as this allows us to evaluate the claim quickly and to ship it out with less hassle. Phone Shattered

I was at my gym and the phone fell of the stand and dropped to the ground. No more than 2-3 feet max. When I picked the phone up the back was shattered. Floors are not hardwood but rubber material. It will now cost me $550 if I am lucky to get the back replaced. So much for this product. Never again.
