Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to love this case, as I'm a big Star Wars fan (I got the full Vader case, not the smaller helmet one). Unfortunately, this case developed a lot of little white scratch marks, usually in the four corners of the case in just a few days (see below photos). Other than that, it's a solid case that does protect quite well, but has a bit of a price premium due to the Star Wars images on it.

Protection But Not Scratch Resistant

It is good in that regard and seems like it will provide good protection if I drop the phone. (I have not dropped it yet. I also put a screen protector on the phone.) My main complaint is that almost immediately, small hairline scratches appeared on this case although it is supposed to be scratch-resistant. Unlike some other reviewers, I was able to put the case on the phone without much difficulty but even minimal handling caused very faint scratches on the case.

Pretty But Has Room to Improve

It protected my phone well, but I ultimately replaced it after about a year when the bottom split. It fits very snugly and was difficult to put on and take off, to the point that I felt like I might break my phone. It also leached color from my jeans pocket over time and was permanently a grayish blue, no matter how much I tried to clean it, which really detracted from the pretty clear casing.

Great protection, poor quality for clear model

However, after only a few months the case turned yellow on half of it. The other half is still clear. It's gross! Contacted OtterBox and they wanted us to pay to ship the old one back instead of sending a new one and shipping the defective one back.

Discolored yellow edges

But, when it comes to clear color phone covers I’m done. Only the front edges turned yellow but it’s still noticeable. It’s a cute case so I wish this didn’t happen. Protects my new phone when I drop it!

Lots of glitter

That said - it is very difficult to get the case on. I could get it partway on but then needed help. Even the staff that checked me out couldn’t get the case to snap on. Other than that - it’s great!

Seems durable but a bit slick

Not typical otterbox quality.

My wife actually dropped hers and it did break the 1 week old ZAGG invisishield screen glass cover than we had to buy separately. There isn’t any rubber bumper pads inside the edges of the case as you used to see. The case itself is a very solid plastic actually. Tough I’m sure but as far as shock absorption it’s not. It transfers it pretty directly in my opinion. Also very little protection of the front screen side. It’s not raised above the phone glass much at all. $1000 phones need better than this. I’m looking into a different case now as I don’t trust it and having to deal with zagg for replacement screen protector we paid $35 for.

Great for a XR PHONE

The sales rep gave me the choice of a clear or black Otterbox case. I selected the black case. The sales rep placed my new phone into the case. When I got home and started to play with this iPhone, I noticed something was wrong with the camera. I then realized the rep sold me a case for a XR phone. Thank you Best Buy.
