The case does however, protect the phone during a fall, so the dirty looking sides are completely aesthetic in nature.

However, the sides started peeling off from the backing within a year. Never had this issue with previous cases, but this could be due to my constant switching of cases between this and a QuadLock.

It is crystal clear and hard enough to protect your cellphone if falls in a hard floor. I am very satisfied with it.
