Our engineering team not only found that the new notch does not diminish the drop protection of the case, we also re-engineered these cases to be Drop+ 7x rated. It was missing sections of the case along the side like they didn't know what to do with the new style phone. We purchased a ZAGG case that didn't have this issue and was a better choice over all.

It exposes the edge of the phone and dropping it on the corner of an object on that exact spot could damage the phone. Not to mention your hand fits in this gap while typing so it’s super uncomfortable when using your phone. How did Otterbox have this big of a miss while all their competitors don’t have this cut out?
