The overall design of the case is great. However, the kick stand part is very hard to use with this case. If the kick stand part is something that you need, then I would look somewhere else.

I love this cover, it looks pretty cool and best of all protects the equipment.

I've owned four surface machines. Three currently working. Dropped one, from my lap onto carpet, and the screen cracked slightly. Stopped working. If you travel with your surface you need a protective cover. This one is thick and will probably provide fantastic protection. However, its bulky and very difficult to work the cover and the "kickstand" together. I'd shop around.

This product did not work well with my Surface Pro. Because it slides in and out, it lefts the screen protector. Also I think that it will eventually break the back stand because it's being pulled on a lot as you open and close it.

This case is one of the best cases you can buy from Best Buy. I tried some of the other cases, but almost all of them sacrificed use of the kickstand in favor of protection (or were just plain flimsy). Otterbox hit the right cross between protection and usability with this case. It is one of the pricier options, but you do get what you pay for. My only complaint is one that is shared with the other reviewers on here: The bottom portion that protects the kickstand grips the tablet very tightly when in the closed position and takes a bit of finesse to get it to let go and allow the kickstand to move out. I believe I will take a razor blade and trim some of the silicone away so it does not grip so tightly. The grip out of the box is so tight that you have to flip the device over and grab each corner individually and apply firm, even pressure for the corner to let go. The keyboard cover fits beautifully into the provided type cover case and even retains its full range of motion so it can flip over behind the Surface when using it in tablet mode. Overall a great case and a great value. As with all important purchases, make sure to visit your local Best Buy and inspect the case in person and see if it will meet your particular needs. I was lucky enough to be able to take the various cases that they had on display and put them on the display model to verify fit and usability (though I was especially careful in making sure that every piece went back into their respective boxes).

Keyboard cover fits well, but the tablet part doesn’t fit well and doesn’t work well with the stand.

This case is pretty good for what it does. It is in two pieces one for the tablet itself and the other for the keyboard, which by the way, some of the other cases do not. Let me list the Pro's and Con's of this case. Pro's: Completely encompasses the tablet giving it some drop protection and great scratch protection with the keyboard on, specifically the beautiful magnesium alloy on the Surface Pro 4 and the screen. Once you get used to it, I think it looks pretty cool. Grip is great on it you never feel like you are loosing it. All the ports are accessible. There are built in vent holes to allow the fans air access. Easy install onto the tablet, though the keyboard is an interesting challenge. Con's It allows the magnets holding the pen to the side to work, but the grip is not as tight and it is easier to fall off than ever, a simple grip across the top is what I think they should have done. It does not grip as well onto the Surface Pro 4 if a screen protector is used, though that makes sense to me but I prefer a screen protector on tablets. The mechanism to use the kickstand is a little more challenging to use, and while it is using it, it allows the bottom of the device to tough whatever is below it. This seems like an interesting design challenge for case makers, but I think a duplicate kickstand on the case would be cool. But makers like urban armor give awkward kickstands and as long as this case does not damage the built in keyboard I think it will work just fine once I get used to it. The last con is cost this case is very expensive. In closing this is a great case if your looking for protection and unlike some of the competition it allows vent access which is an absolute must with these powerful tablets (though the core m model this is not important). Though it is expensive you can justify the cost if you think it does include two cases one for the keyboard and one for the tablet. Overall I am keeping this tablet case and will update this review to add wear and tear over time.

I have used this on my Surface Pro 4 for 7 years! It is great, has saved my pro many a time as i use it daily and have dropped it a "few" times!

I purchased the Otterbox Symmetry case for my Surface Pro 3 but I found that it was so snug that it peeled my tempered glass screen protector when I used the kickstand. After some slight modifications to the bottom portion of the case (kickstand portion) I can now have my cake and eat it too. The case no longer peels the tempered glass when I use the kickstand. I now have my screen well protected while maintaining a nice and snug fit around the case keeping my Surface Pro 3 safe IF I ever drop it.

I got this case on sale at BB. It does come in two pieces. One for the tablet and one for the keyboard. I've read other reviews there the case doesn't fit on the keyboard or the kickstand part. IT is very snug, but it fits. I've come to realize that there are little clips that hold on the kickstand while in use. It's really the nature of the design and material that it comes dislodge. If you are careful not to bend the plastic too much while opening the case to use the kick stand, it will stay in place. While I don't plan on testing the case by dropping it, I feel that the case is durable. It adds a few mm to the size of the tablet. I think this case is far better than a folio since I have a keyboard.

I didn't want something bulky but I wanted to be protected in the kitchen as I am a chef and would be using it around food and liquids. Great product!

I get that this is a specialty-engineered, purpose-built cover, but at $129 I'd expect perfection. The manner in which you need to force the corners off the tablet in order to use the built-in kickstand makes me very uncomfortable - I feel like every time I do it I risk damage to the tablet enclosure or screen. Otherwise, I guess it gives a little extra piece of mind protection for the Surface Pro 4, but lets face it, if you drop the device, while the screen might survive, what's inside probably won't. I don't think the rubber bumper guards will absorb enough shock - they could have used beefier/more compliant rubber, but this is just speculation - I'm not about to test out my theory.

I bought a new Surface Pro 2017 back in June 2017 along with this case. There are two pieces - one for the computer / tablet and the other for the keyboard. The keyboard case fits great and gives it some strength. Without the case, the keyboard flexes a lot when it's up and at an angle. It does add some weight, but it's more of a benefit for me. When the computer is closed, the case gives it a sturdier feel. I don't use the tablet part of the case. The design is terrible. The kickstand attaches to the bottom half of the case which is fine. The issue is when you have to deploy the kickstand. The case is locked in pretty tight at the bottom corners so you have to pull the corners back to release it. It feels like you are uninstalling the case each time. A better design would have been to separate the kickstand from the bottom portion of the case. But I do realize this case was made for the Surface Pro 4. The pen still magnetically attaches to the case but it's a VERY weak magnetic hold. This is one of the few cases which actually protects the keyboard as well. For me it turned out to be an expensive keyboard case.

I've purchased otterbox cases for every phone and tablet I've had since 2010 and I've liked all but this one. Although I had no doubts in the protection it would provide for the surface there were other areas that seemed lacking. The kickstand. It definitely took a couple of tries before I was able to use it without worrying I'd damage it or the surface. As another reviewer noted, the side with the power and volume buttons would loosen and would need readjustment before being able to use them. This was mostly an annoyance, not a deal breaker. Heat! This is more a combination of problems, the surface can get hot depending on what you're doing and it seemed to me that the case made this problem worse. In the case my surface got warm enough that resting my hand on it was uncomfortable, without the case it didn't seem to get quite as hot. I ended up returning it because it didn't fit my wants/needs. However, I can see it being a great case for anyone that is going to be using it on the go, or aren't worried about heat.
