Terrible installation service, from Best Buy vendor. They outsource installation service providers that represent them poorly. There’s such a disconnect from the quality of service you receive in Best Buy stores and from their customer service line. This has caused such an inconvenience to our family, a family that homeschools and works from home, that now must go without a microwave during this COVID pandemic.

decent microwave for family use

The geeksquad came to do the installation, but was afraid to take out the existing hood. The installer that was sent after that was excellent.

Frustrated!!!!

The original date of installation was 4/4/22 but it appears that the microwave has been misplaced either by the installers or at the warehouse. The people I have talked to via telephone from customer service have been great and they have requested information for me but it just stops there. It has been over 5 weeks and nothing is happening. I need the microwave ASAP as our old one quit working about 2 weeks ago. I originally ordered the microwave last August (over 8 months ago). When I was checking on the ETA in January, I was informed that Best Buy cancelled my order and refunded my money. I was never informed of this and as of today (5/12/2022), I have not received my refund. I had to pay again in January 2022 to reorder. Now almost 5 months later, I still do not have the microwave and out the cost of 2 microwaves. I just want someone to find the microwave and install it now. Also, my daughter had to take 2 days off work (without pay) to sit at the house and wait for installers that never showed up! I feel that I have been very patient but this is getting ridiculous. I am far beyond frustrated and highly doubt I will ever order an appliance from Best Buy again.

Horrible customer service experience

The process of getting the microwave repaired/replaced started on 11/25 and after multiple problems the replacement finally got installed on 1/5/23. Best buy customer service staff couldn't schedule things properly and the third party folks couldn't seem to follow thru on their end. The service was rescheduled multiple times. Geek squad folkss can't install microwaves which I believe is the problem. A third party has to uninstall, geek squad had to deliver the product, then the third party has to install. Very inefficient process! The customer service reps couldn't get everything scheduled correctly. Something so simple ended up being complicated. Best buy needs to train geek squad staff to handle all installations so there doesn't need to be any third party involvement. And the customer service staff needs to know what to do and it would be great if they were able to be understood! I spent an hour and a half on the phone with them the first time the scheduling got screwed up! That's ridiculous!!

Should have installed myself

The installer was a third party contractor hired by Best Buy. The microwave is not plumb, horizontally or vertically. The original workers were dismissive of my wife, refused to give their names and left even though she pointed out that the installation was not satisfactory. The second person, from Best Buy agreed that it was not correctly installed, took pictures and arranged for the installer to come back and correct it. A person from the original contractor came a few days later and stated that even though the bubble on the level was touching the line instead of being in the middle of the two lines, it was level enough. It became clear that if we wanted the microwave installed correctly, we would have to do it ourselves. My son is a journeyman carpenter that lives in another state, when he visits we will pull out the microwave and reinstall it correctly. I will never use Best Buy's installation service again.

Hot Mess Express

I had appt, got off work as the time slot is over 8 hours. Then the morning of install, 30 minutes before specified time, I get a call that they have to reschedule for the following week. So I took a day off for nothing. Then when they came, they just delivered and told me what I needed to do in order to get installation. When they came out WEEEEKS later, they installed, with adjustments (meaning they took the vent cover off in order for unit to fit.) I wasn't too thrilled with that as I don't like modifications for things that are supposed to be there. And then they tried to charge me an additional $100. I explained that I was a TotalTech member and my install was free. I showed them my order and specifications. It was definitely a hot mess and I most likely will not go thru this process for anything else ever again.

Major problems

After he installed the microwave he said it was defective and would have to be replaced as the exhaust fan motor would not shut off and that it could not be used . I asked how long it would be for a replacement and he told me it would be the next day. I said as long as it was replaced the next day that would be fine but if not I asked that he would put my old working microwave back in. He assured me that the unit would be replaced the next day and left. After not hearing anything the next day, I contacted the Geek Squad to find the status. The clerk advised that she would check and call me back as soon as possible about the replacement that same day and that she would be there until 9:00 PM. No call was received so I contacted the Geek Squad again the next afternoon and they couldn't find a record of anyone working on a replacement and also told me the unit was out of stock. While on the phone, I went online to see if any were available and found not only they were available at the best buy store near me but also available to be shipped. When I challenged the geek squad representative somehow he said he overlooked it and that they did have them in stock but it would be a couple of weeks before it could be replaced due to delivery backlogs. After telling him that was unacceptable somehow he found a cancellation for another delivery the next week. Still waiting for the replacement so I don't know if he was telling the truth or not at this point. I suppose the installer didn't want to spend the time to put my old working microwave back in and just wanted to get out of the house. Should have saved the installation fee and the haul away fee and put it in myself. This is the worst service I've ever seen. So much for being an "Elite Plus" member. The next time I'll shop elsewhere.

They install it wrong, and it's my fault

They installed the a recirculating microwave where the vent is blocked by the upper cabinet and can't access it to put in a filter. So the "vent" is just a future fire hazard in our house. Then they come to "fix" their installation. Geek Squad person decided to loudly suggest we do not know what installation means. Like just because the microwave can turn on and is not falling down then it's "fine." We explain we can't access the filter with it installed this way and the steam/grease will just be pushed into the cabinet without escaping. Fire hazard. Geek squad then again says the installation is good and doesn't know why they came out. The tech said they would need to space it out of the wall so it can vent properly. Yet they didn't have a spacer/piece of wood. So they offered to put it back the way it was, or just uninstall it. I said if they can give us the proper template/instructions then we will install it ourselves and I would like my refund. So we had them uninstall the microwave and we will install it ourselves. But they took the install templates the first install and only left the generic instructions. They said they will get me a copy. Guess what? I got another copy of the instructions that says, "USE THE TEMPLATE PROVIDED..." and they talk to me like I'm an idiot for asking for the template so thanks Best Buy. Made us take a long time to try to measure and install the microwave ourselves.

The microwave is not powerful

Have to reheat things longer than my previous microwave. This is the only one that would fit the space though. The door handle was so cheap. It is really plastic with metal looking contact like paper over it. Needless to say it started curling up and was rough on the hands. GE did replace the whole door because the handle comes as one assembly with the door, but my husband had to do it! Now the microwave is making loud noises! This is a clunker

Knuckleheads

Th microwave pitches back like a window air conditioner. When I called to complain, the same two knuckleheads came out and said "there's nothing we can do, you need to get someone else to install or buy a different microwave" going on the FOURTH time to have someone install it correctly. Hopefully fourth time is a charm!!!!

Avoid Installs Inc

The 3rd party installation people are hit or miss. Installs Inc in particular should be avoided at all cost. They are so poorly trained and managed that they refuse to install a microwave if they have to drill into backsplash. Apparently because of prior mistakes in doing this simple (often necessary) task they refuse to do it. I ended up doing the install myself. Drilling into the backsplash was easy with the correct bit and I’ve never installed a microwave. Avoid Installs Inc. Best Buy should have their own crews like they do for electronics.

No longer shoping at Best Buy.

After that were canceled our Best Buy + because you changed the benifits of belonging. At that time (without notifying us) you canceled all warantees Best Buy offered and we reverted to the one year manufacturer warantee. We were instructed to call Samsung. Since that time we called Samsung Warantee who missed one appointment, sent the wrong part, and now have a September 4 appointment. The Customer has been sorely lacking. Sorry you have lost a long time customer.
