Director Del Toro offers a fun, creative monster vs. robot movie that is intentionally reminiscent of the old Saturday afternoon creature features on TV in the old days. The action is great as one would expect. The story drags a little in some of the quieter moments, but this director simply has too many ideas that he wants to gleefully stuff into each film as if he may not get another chance to do so. I'll take his brand of unbridled enthusiasm for the film making process over some of the other stuff Hollywood churns out.

I bought this on sale because my husband wanted it and said I needed to see it. We have multiple ways to watch movies, so I hate buying just a DVD now. I prefer a combo pack. The packaging on this appeared to be just the DVD, so I bought the Blu-ray with it, but when I got home I realized it actually was a combo pack in disguise! I got a great deal on buying the Blu-ray as well, so instead of returning it, I'll save it for a gift. The only thing that would have been better was if this offerd a 3-D disc as well.

This has easily become one of my favorite movies of all time. It's a young boy's kids movie, but for the adult male! I'm sure plenty of women enjoyed it as well. It has giant robots and giant monsters! Great designs for the robots and monsters. Good story. Good action. I wish there was more focus on the monsters and robots. More story to them, details, etc. I love this movie.

This one has taken grief from people since it was released, and while not the best movie I have seen, what's not to like about a movie with giant robots fighting monsters. I have liked this kind of thing since the first time I saw the original black and white Godzilla. Clearly this isn't the most well written script ever, but the overall movie is decent. Good visuals, and the sound is incredible on my 7.1 surround system. There is talk of another, which I personally think is good news.

I won't say much about the movie itself. If you like giant monsters (ala Godzilla) vs giant robots (think Robot Jox if you remember that one), then you'll like the movie. The blu-ray video itself is pretty clean. Doesn't look super grainy and also doesn't look over-DNR'd the audio sounds great too. Recommend you watch on a large tv. Plenty of special features to go around including audio commentary. Overall, if you liked the movie itself and have a blu-ray player you'll love to own it on blu-ray.

This movie was definitely a sleeper for me. I could not get a decent review by anyone that has seen it. The common response was, "it does have action, but the acting is kind of weak." I was waiting for this movie to go on sale below 10 dollars, but it never hit the mark. I just took a chance and bought it, and was not disappointed. Yes, the action scenes are great, and the story line is pretty good, but the acting is not the greatest. It does have Idris Elba in the movie, and he is a great actor IMO!

As soon as I saw the trailer for this, I knew I had to watch it. Giant robots vs giant monsters, pretty much every cartoon I grew up with right there. It is very cheesy, and very cliche but you will love every minute of it. It looks spectacular on blu-ray! This is one of those movies that should not be watched in standard def, or on a small TV. Get this movie, watch it, don't worry about plot or acting, have yourself 2 hours of fun!

For the fans of Ray Harryhausen and Ishirō Honda there couldn't be a better film that displayed the genres that they brought to the silver screen. When I first saw the previews for this film in the theatre my first thought was back to the 1954 classic Kaiju film "Godzilla". What really sealed the deal for me to buy this film was the fact that Portal and Portal 2's GLaDOS was the voice of the AI for the main Jäger, Gipsy Danger.

Sadly not a lot of people like this movie but my husband loves it. It's probably the mecha/gundam in him. But I got this, awesome and low-priced BR as a random surprise gift for him and he loved it. Anyways, I'm the type of person who just watches movies and I have to say, I like it. It wasn't horrible nor the greatest but it was a good movie for the theme it was going for.

Everything seems to work fine. I haven't explored the extras much, but there's a lot available. It was a good price for the combo, although I waited a while for the price to go down and got it on sale. The quality of the disc is good and the sound is great. I'm not the biggest fan of "Pacific Rim" but there's a lot about it I like and I keep rewatching parts of it. And it's always funny to hear GLaDOS as a giant robot.

Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim is 2 hours of pure, unadulterated, escapist, awesome FUN. You want plot? I'll give you plot: Giant robots. With buzz saws, swords, guns, and fists. Fighting giant monsters. With acid, horns, claws, and wings. It does not pretend to be anything other than a summer sci-fi action pic. If you grew up watching Godzilla, Gamera, Harryhausen, Yamato, Macross, or any other anime this movie is for you.

Any sci fi fan who loves giant robots and monsters has to get this movie. If you like the old Japanese monster fiims like I did growing up, then I recommend this film. Great speacial effects, better than average acting and a good storyline. Sci fi fans will enjoy this film, espeacially on Blu Rae, plenty of action and drama. This movie is good for all ages to watch with the family or alone. Good old fashion sci fi with modern Cg, sound, and effects. Perfect addition to anyone ones collection.

I really like this movie, love the VIDEO quality, this is definitely a movie that benefits from hi-def. The Blu-Ray version shows great colors, especially when it shows the many colorful instrument displays in the command station and the robots, combine that with great contrast, shadow detail, clarity and overall detail, it makes the included DVD look dull and fuzzy, a definite demo disc, recommended!

The movie is pretty loud but just goes with the atmosphere of it. Robots vs Monsters, the graphics any adult can enjoy and the concept any teen or even kid could enjoy as well. Its a movie that does a decent job at appealing to multiple generations. I really like the 3 copies, being as I don't have a blue-ray player right now I can still watch it , and won't have to go out and buy it 'again' when I do get a blue ray player.

I found the movie pretty entertaining. It's nothing to write home about, but for those who like the mindless action film, this is a good choice. The UHD presentation was amazing. The quality of the 4k detail is incredible. The use of HDR and WCG is outstanding. In the night battle scenes, this is most apparent. The audio is great too. Lots of good explosions and use of surround.

This movie is a big dumb action movie. But what sets it apart is it's visuals and audio. Easily one of the best looking 4k movies I have seen (minus the opening sequence that has a few CGI shots that are almost cartoony). The Dolby Atmos track on this disc is phenomenal. Give your surround sound system a workout!

An amazing film for any monster fan, the story may be simple but its enjoyable.The 4k is amazing, it looks amazing if you have the right 4k tv, sound is also superb with a nice set up. A must get.

The film manages to give an futuristic and updated take on good old-fashioned monster movies. It is fun, build in intensity and keeps you on the edge of your seat, and is immensely satisfying to witness the payoff of the huge battles. There were some holes in the final solution of stemming the threat of the monsters, but I was okay with suspending my disbelief. It's a giant robots vs. giant monsters movie, after all.

The movie itself is good. It has a decent story line and a fair amount of action that keeps your interest but the picture in 4K with surround sound is AWESOME! We recently upgraded to a 4K television and 4K UHD Blu-ray player and have been looking for movies that really show what the system can do. Wow! The picture was stunning and 3D like and the sound was incredible. We always put in this movie when showing our friends how amazing 4K can be.

If you are a transformer movie fan, you may also like this. I really enjoyed it for its special effects and background score. Acting was not that great and not a character driven movie. Wasn't that great in 3D as the film had 90% scenes shot in night background. Could be because I tried to convert 2D to 3D. Definitely worth a buy for special effects and home theater movie collection (for its superb sound effects)
