This flick has absolutely fantastic special effects. Besides who doesn't love 100ft tall robots battling giant aliens for the future of Earth? The acting isn't the best but does get better with time. The characters are overly stereotypical to the point where its dumb, not even funny. Once you get used to that, and the movie gets rolling, the absolute epicness of pretty much every minute of it really makes it a lot of fun to watch. Turn up the subwoofer.

This is one of those movies that was made for your hi-def television. The plot is okay: Giant monsters want to destroy the earth, we build giant robots to stop them. Very similar to lots of 80's and early 90's mech anime. The acting is a little cheesy in parts, but I think that was the intention. Not as great as his work with Hellboy, but Del Toro has definitely done a good job in adding to his fantasy/sci-fi legacy. Can't wait to see what he works on next.

I am not overly-thrilled with my 4K HDR LG, but this movie left my jaw on the floor. The color saturations in a lot of the kaiju/jaeger scenes is phenomenal and if you have upgraded to a 4K HDR system, this is the demo disc you play for your friends. It's incredible and the best looking disk I've seen so far (better than Lucy, Mad Max, Revenant, etc.)

I usually don't buy movies because I watch tv series and movies once and I'm usually set for a decade. I actually bought this. The story is great, it got me right in the feels and it doesn't play to the macho rule breaking hero. It's about the entire team and having to be part of something bigger and receive as much as give aid to who you work with. Plus Idris Elba!

I was never a big fan of this movie previously, but I wanted to find a movie that showed off the potential of our new 4k TV. Well, this movie definitely does that. I actually enjoy watching this movie now just because of the amazing quality of image it produces with 4k and HDR. If you want a great option for showing off your 4k TV, get this movie.

Who doesn't like giant robots fighting giant monsters!?!? Although the plot is a little silly, it is still tons of fun. Directed by Guillermo del Toro (golden globe best director for the shape of water), Pacific Rim will keep you interested all the way through. Plenty of action and great character development makes this film great.

Aside from me loving the movie itself, in 4K is just that much better! The colors and blacks on my G6 oled are amazing! But probably the best thing is that the movie uses the WHOLE screen. There are no black bars! I hate that you spend money on a 65" tv just for movies to cut off 8". This is the only 4K movie I have bought so far that does this.

This is my second copy of this film. Its classic "check-your-brain-at-the-door fun. Very reminiscent of the old Godzilla versus whatever monster where the actors (mainly Japanese) are dressed in elaborate costumes and perform miraculously stunts in them. Good clean fun for the entire family. AND (spoiler alert) the good guys win.

Pacific Rim is a movie for mecha, giant moster or even Power Ranger fans. It has a great plot, awesome fighting sequences, and great characters. So in essence giant monsters started appearing all over the world and the only hope for mankind are giant man piloted robots. I recommend this movie to all audiences. Even if its not your type of movie you might just enjoy it.

What more do you want from a movie? If you're looking for realism and high theatre, this isn't your flick. If you're looking for a movie that knows all the tropes in action flicks, anime, and cartoons, and plays either to them or with them with loving detail, this is the movie for you. Plus, you know. Monsters and Robots beating on each other. Always a good time.

The movie is action packed with good character development, this release with the Atmos soundtrack mix left me speechless. Commanding stage presence, bass so powerful it shook the walls and ceiling and defined surround sound clarity throughout the action. Highly recommended, especially with an Atmos/DTS:X sound system!

Like most people who buy 4K blu-rays, I'm just beginning to build my collection. This is among the best 4K titles you can buy. The resolution, even when the scenes are dark, is mind blowing. The colors are off the chart. Moreover, it's a modern day version of the Godzilla movies I loved as a boy. Can't wait to share it with my grandkids.

If you grew up watching classic giant monster movies like Godzilla, then you'll probably like Pacific Rim. It's got huge mechanized suits of 'armor' that require two people to operate, and these are used to fight giant monsters that come out of the sea. The monsters are creatively done and each is different, providing the heroes of the movie with varied challenges to overcome.

Giant robots fighting giant monsters— remind you of playing with your toys? It certainly did for me. If I had an IMAX-size screen at home it would make it even better being able to relive that first viewing. It’s a blast! And a punch! And a beast of a movie!

I had been curious about this movie since it came out last year, was browsing BestBuy to use a reward certificate and wanted to get something to add to the 3d blueray collection. this fit the bill and was on sale for like 19.99. it is a long movie, but the effects and action are pretty good, the plot really starts to drag along after a while, I actually fell asleep with about 20 min left so I actually need to finish it still!

Giant robots fighting giant alien monsters! Washed up former war hero comes back and saves the day! Totally predictable story! Amazing special effects and over the top corny characters! This one has it all. The 4K picture is amazing and there are loads of special features. So sit back, relax and enjoy the action!

This movie really touched my heart. The story of a black driver and the elderly lady who employs him has everything you could ask for in a movie. Morgan Freeman was amazing as always. Not as good as his role in the archer movie but still a top notch performance. The old lady was pretty good too. A little too bigoted but I guess it's acceptable in most states.

This is definitely a movie to show off your 4k HDR TV! It's full screen and just looks simply beautiful. My only slight complaint is all the fighting scenes are at night time and mostly in the rain! I just wish there were a few daylight scenes to really show off this beautiful picture more during a battle.

This is what many call a reference quality 4k Blu-Ray and that's evident in the transfer here. I believe the movie was shot in 4K originally so that's why it looks so good. Color is great in HDR as well. The Atmos soundtrack is also amazing sounding. So a definite must own for 4K and Atmos users.

This movie is fun from the start. It doesn't take too long until the action starts and it's just fun... like when playing with toys when I was younger. A lot of smashing, crashing and intense scenes of robots fighting against aliens. Awesome. It reminds me of old-school Godzilla flicks and a little like Power Rangers (just not as cheesy). Recommended as a great weekend pop-corn movie!
