While tentpole filmmakers are forever attempting to make their particular summer blockbusters bigger than the last, Guillermo del Toro throws down the gauntlet, delivering a thoroughly entertaining genre pic that boasts off-the-charts size, scale and spectacle. Is the dumb in the film's Big Dumb Fun a bit much? Sure, but that's part of its charm. Pacific Rim is a blast from start to finish

This movie was good but not great. I was prepared for a movie similar to Transformers or Voltron, but got something better. Kept having to turn the volume up and down because the battle scenes were really really loud and any spoken words were very quiet. The performances were OK but the actors have nowhere to go in this special effects extravaganza. Overall this was a decent movie to watch.

This is easily one of my top ten movies and that's mainly because of Guillermo Del Toro. I love all his movies so I might be a bit biased with this review. If you love Kaijus and mechs then you will love this movie.

I'm not a movie critic - but this is worth a watch. I enjoy the CG parts just fine and Charlie Day's character is almost worth it alone. And who doesn't love Idris Elba? If you want to see some mechs fighting giant extraterrestrials with some worthwhile side stories in it, give it a shot. Also, GLaDOS from Portal is one of the computer voices :D

I like technology and machines and a Science Fiction fan, so I wasn't as negative on this movies as others. But still, it's not one of those movies I think about after viewing. Really good movies I tend to think about all day after seeing. Pacific Rim I thought about what I would do to make it better. Pacific Rim, though worth a watch especially for the upcoming Pacific Rim 2.

Leave your brain at home. This is Guillermo del Toro's tribute to old Japanese monster films. This movie was never meant to win an Oscar, it was meant to evoke a child-like reaction and nostalgia for those who enjoyed those kinds of movies. It was not shot in 3D but the 3D is very well implented without things popping out too much and instead giving the backgrounds more depth.

I did not care for the movie when we saw it at the theater. too much going on on the big screen and it was hard to follow. But at home-- picture was clearer, sound was better and it we easier to watch. Love the plot and it made so much more sense! If you had the same feeling in the theater get this movie today! You will love it.

This movie is great. Lots of great action. The sound and picture quality are reference/demo material for your home theater. The neighbors will not like you much if you play it loud (like you should).

I don't know what led me to watch this movie like 3 years ago, but I'm glad it happened. If you like seeing monsters getting beaten up by giant robots, great story, and an awesome soundtrack, this is your movie. I can confidently call this my favorite movie of all time. Buy it.

An all out action movie that screams to be made into a trilogy. The CGI in the movie is top notch and the fight scenes are instant classics. All of the mechs and monsters have a real weight to them when in motion. Overall it felt too short and I was left wanting more individual scenes of each mech with back story and fights.

Movie itself is entertaining, but wow, if you have a quality ATMOS surround sound, this movie rocks! The visual quality is exceptional as well on a 4k set with HDR. This movie is definitely a reference piece I show off my system with, and again, it is a fun movie to boot if you are into sci fi.

This movie is an over the top action/ monster movie, but is very entertaining to watch. Seeing it in 4K makes it look even better, and makes the colors pop out more. Even if you have it already in blu ray, I would recommend repurchasing it in 4K. They did a great job converting it into 4K.

never got a chance to own this movie on blu ray, but now I got to see it in its full potential at least for the moment. HDR is what makes this movie so special if you can't see it then you may not have a tv with over 1,000 nits to give it justice. I would say its reference quality.

Rich and vibrant, most important part of the 4K release. Color stands out more than detail. Still a great release and a great movie.

Video and audio quality on this blu-ray are excellent. Reference material for a home theater. The world created by Del Toro is really interesting as always and he does a great job of bringing the monsters to life. Where this movie lacks is the script and acting performances. Pick this one up if you like summer blockbusters. Better than any of the transformer movies

Guillermo Del Torro has truly made a classic for our generation. This epic laid out in battles between dinosaur-dwarfing monsters and giant robots is one of the best special effects showings of recent history. Take a chance and enjoy a magnificent masterpiece of bone crushing and circuit breaking action. 5 Stars

A great action packed movie with great visuals to match. The HDR in both the disc (HDR10) and VUDU (Dolby Vision) are top notch and really add to the movie watching experience. Colors jump off the screen and the highlights from the explosions give this movie a 3D look without the glasses.

I enjoy watching movies with the gaijus cuz I'm a die-hard Godzilla fan I thought the effect and the storyline in this movie was amazing I wish Godzilla and the other monsters can overlap into this but they can't all I know is that this was a great movie kiss rules and go Hawks

I already own this movie on blu-ray, but after hearing so many good things about the 4K blu-ray, I decided to get it. It was definitely worth it! It looked so much better, the special effects and the action looked so much more realistic and the sound quality was perfect! 10/10!

This. Is a great movie. Del Toro has a great eye for creature design and evocative details, and this movie suits him perfectly. To be honest, I could take or leave the plot, but that's not what you're here for. You're here for the robot-on-monster fights, and they fully deliver! Hoping that sequel comes through.
