When I saw this movie in the theaters, it was not because I wanted to see it, it was mainly because there was nothing else and I had nothing else to do. Well, I was pleasantly surprised with the movie. Ever since, I have downloaded the digital copy and purchased this 3-D Blu-Ray copy. The buying experience was as expected, a quick in and out of Best Buy at a competitive price as all the other outlets. The movie itself has been tested out with various TV sizes all in Blu-Ray and in 3-D on a 1080P DLP Projector. The results are the best 3-D movie I have seen at home so far, and amazing detail quality. If you haven't seen it before, rent it, make sure you like it, then grab this DVD.

Bought this movie not seeing in the theater, and actually not knowing anything about the plot other than what I read on the back of the case. Best Buy had it at a great price, so I claimed it for my home collection. Movie was better than I ever could have imagined, and my 10 year old daughter loved it as well. Director is known for putting out high quality movies, most of which are spanish speaking foreign films, yet I'm glad he's crossing over to the American audience as his films are always enjoyable. Add this to your collection, it's worth multiple viewings, and if you're a home theater enthusiast, it'll really give your system a workout (and tick off the neighbors).

Robot bashing monsters and they're GIANT!!! Yah! Features that give you all background and information about movie and robots. Yah! Bluray 3D or just bluray viewing, pus DVD and ultraviolate viewing on device. Yah! Things getting destroyed and things blowing up. Yah! Anything else, who cares! It's a cool movie meant to be enjoyed. Just sit back and don't think about how they are acting and whether storyline is awesome. Who cares! Just watch and appreciate that we can have this kind of entertainment. I am not dumb, I just want entertainment like this without me thinking so much about stuff. Trust me, let your stress go and grab your nerf gun and watch and shoot away!

If you want a mindless bit of action entertainment you could do a lot worse than what’s on display here. Good looking people fight monsters in giant mechs. If that’s what you’re here for, you’ll get a fun version of that.

Growing up as a big Godzilla fan, I've been waiting for a great giant monster movie that lived up to all of our expectations. This definitely was an amazing movie with the special affects and action that was non-stop and quite earth shattering. However, don't get this movie expecting the best acting and the best dialogue...if that's what you're looking for, please pass this one. However, if you're looking for your typical summer blockbuster bonanza filled with giant robots and monsters going to town and wrecking havoc, then this is the movie for you! I never get sick of watching it and since it did well overseas, expect a sequel sometime in the future!

This movie has a little bit of all: Action, Drama, Mild humor, and best of all Entertainment. The Sound Effects will make your Home Theater Speakers roar and boom. The Alien life-like creatures sound like husky Dinosaurs with soar throats. The Graphics are Amazing. It surpasses the Transformers and makes it the most epic Sci-Fi movie ever made. If you are into Sci-Fi movies, make sure to put this one on your collection. This movie never bores me and I can watch it at anytime.

I'm a huge Godzilla fan ever since I was young I remember staying up late to catch the monster show on kcal back in the days... I've been waiting for a giant monsters fighting other giant beast or machines with todays modern cgi...this is the best by far, so far... I heard there making a new Godzilla film and there goin for the classic hardcore Godzilla wrecking up cities and fighting other monsters and if it comes anything close like Pacific Rim, for sure I'll be visiting the theatres multiple times... Pacific Rim looks awesome and I have some favorite scenes but I won't spoil anything for anyone that hasn't seen it yet...

I'm not so much a fan for story line (although it was very imaginative and fun), I was turned on by this film from an associate at Best Buy Menifee that said the 3D graphics were great. He was right - it was clean and intense. I was impressed and I'm glad I bought this film. Acting was good and set design was brilliant, telling a story all its own with deep, dark colors as many Japanese style movies do. During its dramatic scenes it was very poetic. Well done.

Every dollar spent bringing this movie into your home, in any format, should count as a vote for making it a permanent feature in every movie theater. A truly beautiful display that has just enough heart to rocket punch you in the feels, while melting your face off battle-after-battle between your new favorite Jaeger heroes and creatures from the brilliant mind of Guillermo del Toro..and.. ffrom the Ocean. THE PACIFIC OCEAN PACIFIC RIIIIIMMM.

I saw Pacific Rim twice in the theaters, both times in Imax 3d. The first time I went I took my 11-year old son and about halfway through the movie he turned to me, offered a high five and mouthed "This is awesome". While the home release won't rip your senses apart like it did in the theater it is still a fun movie full of great fights and special effects. As someone who grew up watching poorly dubbed import movies from Japan on my local UHF channel, this was a dream come true. We are also looking forward to the sequel coming out next year.

This is a somewhat unconventional sci-fi film. I say unconventional because it does not take place in outer space at all, but is set in the future. We usually be big dominating things that crawl around on land that are either reptiles or some sort of creature that lived before our time. This film makes the large dominating entity's machines. It's a different take and one that works very well. The special effects are amazing and the film should be seen in Blue Ray not DVD. Thee effects and colors in the film are far to interesting not to be seen in any other format. Highly Recommended.

This movie is simply amazing. saw it in IMAX and the special effects are incredible and outstanding. It focuses on one guy who comes back to the Jaeger program after being out of it for over 5 years and helps destroy the last of the Kaiju (monsters) and help blow up the wormhole which they are getting through. Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam and Charlie Day and Ron Perlman (even though he was barely in it) are all fantastic. Fantastic movie to watch at home with some popcorn and enjoy. Typical big-budget action movie but does have great special effects and some heartfelt moments too.

This movie has an excellent transfer. The only thing missing in my opinion would be Dolby vision HDR. This is a demo worthy disc for 4k picture quality and the HDR is top notch even though it's just HDR 10. The movie itself could be better story wise but it is highly entertaining.

If you're looking for a 4K disc or a Blu-ray to show off your system, this is one of them. Pacific Rim in 4K is excellent in terms of video and sound quality. This is a sci-fi, action movie so - and directed by Guillermo Del Toro (from Hellboy, Blade II, Pan's Labrynth) so it was easy to add to my collection based on his quality of work. Highly recommended if you have a 4K TV and a good surround sound system to get the most out of this movie. This is pure eyecandy.. and ear-candy.

Great movie even for the whole family. Never disappoints action whole way through. Keep you on the edge of your seat. Man does it look good in 4K a must have. Funny story behind this, my wife detests movies like this. When I originally rented she didnt want to watch...after three months of it sitting in our queue, I finally said screw it and made her watch it with me. After watching it, she said she was extremely surprised on how entertaining and well constructed the movie was. We quote it together often and its a fun go to action flick for anyone who likes movies that involve science fiction/giant robot/giant monsters. Great movie and its a must have. Cant wait until the sequel.

If you're a fan of Guillermo del Toro previous films (Hellboy, Pans Labyrinth) there's a lot to be found here in similarities. The story line is simplistic, a portal causing giant alien monsters to show up on earth and the humans having to defend themselves with giant robots, but there's also superb action scenes and an engaging human emotion to the story. Seeing it in 3D is an even bigger treat. The 3D is well done but some scenes are a bit dark so controlling the amount of light in the room is crucial. Overall I recommend it.

This is a great movie and I have watched in the theatre several years ago. When the sequel is in the theatre, I decided to watch this movie again. Luckily I found this blu-ray just released and available in Bestbuy, The packaging is decent, but it is not a collector edition. Highly recommend if you have not watched this one, because it is much better than the sequel in my opinion.

I think they should have given a better explanation of the 'rift', at the beginning of the movie, not the end. And why such a weak hero, next to the tall, dark, handsome man? He was just a big mouth and you couldn't see him very well. I thought the action scenes were well performed, couldn't a missile take them out better? It would have been a MUCH BETTER film; without the tall, dark, handsome man in it, who added nothing, but an antagonistic attitude. I couldn't figure out if the movie was about him or the monsters. ??? Poorly scripted. But, they got the actions scenes down pat.

The storyline of this movie is such that you either will like it or you won't...For Geeks like me it was fun and nostalgic....As it reminded me of the Japanese Godzilla-like monster movies of my childhood (35+ yrs ago).... However, you won't find people running around in cheesy rubber monster costumes...Stomping on model cities....The special effects and sound are the real deal in this film. The Ultra HD is awesome.....Def a showpiece for your home theater....Grab a copy and have fun!
