Honestly Uprising is a solid action flick and a decent follow-up to the surprise sleeper Pacific Rim. IMO storyline wasn’t nearly as engaging as the first movie but if you came here for the Mech vs. Monster fights you won’t be disappointed. The movie is stunning in 4K and the Atmos track provides a rocking soundstage for those who want solid boom. Nice companion to the first movie and worth getting if you’re a fan.

The original Pacific Rim rose above the absurdity of it's premise with fantastic and cohesive characterization, world building, special effects, character/mechanical/monster design and decent acting, all applied either tastefully or ostentatiously when it best fit what was going on. Pacific Rim: Uprising falls short in every aspect in comparison, with much of it coming off as a bit goofy or contrived. The mechanical and monster designs where especially disappointing, being passable but much more generic and forgettable, paired with the special effects not really conveying as much of a sense of scale or weight from these gargantuan machines and creatures. However, while it doesn't rise above it's absurdity as the first did, it is still able to revel in it. It's flaws aren't egregious enough to ruin it and it is still plenty entertaining enough to enjoy watching multiple times. As far as presentation goes, the movie is extremely impressive. Picture quality was top notch and almost overwhelmingly colorful and detailed at times, and the sound was just as complex and nuanced. I'd imaging this being the kind of movie that would really fully take advantage of better, more modern setups than my older 45” HD tv and 5.1 surround sound.

Picked up on Black Friday, great movie for a sequel.

My father enjoyed watching it. Said that I should.

Though it is not as good as the original, it is a fun ride. Giant robots and monsters fighting are always a great spectacle.

Movie was ok, and I know there was talk about possibly connecting this to another franchise in one universe, being the current set of Godzilla and Kong movies - not sure if this is still a possibility, but it may be best to keep them separate. How much you like this film depends on how much you like kaiju films in general; to the mainstream, this one won't resonate.

Looks good in 4k but mostly feels like a power rangers next generation than the epic scale sequel one could have hoped for

I personally enjoyed the movie, 10 years have passed since the big battle between the invading giant monsters (the "Kaiju") and the human-made giant robots (the "Jaegers"). The first one was better but most sequels are that way. The special effects are well done, the storyline ties well with the first movie with many of the same actors reprising the original roles. A must have the Si-Fi robot van.

For the first Pacific RIm I thought it was ok. I'm a huge fan of giant monster movies so after not caring to much for the first one I decided to skip the sequel in the theaters. This movie is a step up in my opinion. Sure the monster scenes are a bit scarce in this movie but the plot is excellent. If you can find the Best Buy exclusive version get it for sure because it has every media format except DVD.

Watch once type of movie. some movies you watch over and over again and not get tired of it. This is not one of them.

I did enjoy Pacific Rim: Uprising. It certainly is not as good as the original, as it's hard to top Guillermo Del Toro. But I did find it to be a fun, enjoyable movie. Some nice Jaeger action sequences and great sound. A bit of a nice twist towards the end as well. CG is spot on and very realistic. Maybe I'm just a sucker for giant robots fighting giant monsters, but I'd recommend giving it a view.

While this sequel is not as good as the first "Pacific Rim", it was not bad. There was a lot of action and the acting was okay. But, the giant alien kaijus are no longer really presenting a threat. The action in this one is more like giant robots fighting other giant robots. Disappointing after the excellent monsters in the original. Still, it's an ok movie - worth viewing to see for yourself.

Storyline is ight, plot is dull, but the action and building destuction is in my wheelhouse. I'm satisfied.
