Customers are saying
Customers frequently mention the air fryer and ease of use as top features of the HomeCHEF CD87KS Multioven Microwave. Many appreciate its multiple functions, including the microwave, broiler, and convection capabilities, but some find the controls require a learning curve and the appliance is noisy. The stainless steel finish is visually appealing to many, although it is prone to fingerprints.

||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hate this unit. Need a degree from M I T to understand and then it has a dial to set time or temp. You have to go slow to keep from over running the number you want. Cannot set temp- over 425 for oven or put micro in 50% power it only goes to 60 or 40 This is not user friendly and you cannot follow directions on packages correctly because this oven will not set temp or micro watts to what is directed. I hate it.

Knob failed in 4 months
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointing. I like the features and I was using the broiler and air fryer a lot. However, after about 3 months the unit continuously wanted a steam clean done. Then one month later the knob on the control panel stopped working. Very unreliable design.

Counter top and patience required, no for all else
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The airfare is just bad. Takes 2.5x as long as a normal air fryer, and doesn't crisp the same way. The frame kit is out of stock and if you don't have solid cabinet underneath, e.g. a shelf above you cannot connect it if you find it. The Microwave popcorn feature is the worst I have had, so in short its a pass, and I wish I could return it.

Door latch didn't hold up
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sadly i really liked this microwave. Bought in May 2021. It is now February's 21st 2022. The door doesn't latch anymore. I cant even use it! I didn't purchase the protection at best buy but you would have thought it would have lasted longer than 9 months.

Airfryer function overheats
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to like this, has so many features. Unfortunately the air-fryer causes the unit to go into "cool-down" mode every time you use it, and the unit cannot be used again for at least 5 minutes or more. The unit was well-ventilated and the house was cool, but apparently this is the way it's designed. The point of a microwave is fast cooking, but having to stand around and wait like this made no sense so I returned it.

Fantastic kitchen appliance but get the warranty.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok so i bought this model when it first came out almost 4 years ago. It was one of the first microwave, convection oven, airfryer combo machines on the market at the time and my wife and i basically used this thing daily between the 3 modes. Sometimes multiple times daily. It was convenient to pop in side dishes and use the convection oven or air fryer while we cooked on the main stove for the primary course. All the features work really well, my only complaint about this model is that 1 month before my 4 year extended warranty expired, it finally gave out after daily use. I could no longer microwave anything past a minute and it would lock me out of functions untill cool down finished. Not that big of a deal, we didnt use the microwave feature all that often, but then the convection oven wouldnt get up to heat anymore and that was the feature we used the most. I soible checked the warranty and was happy to see i still had a month left because i thought it had long expired. I immediately Brought it to bestbuy under their warranty coverage and they had to send it out. Once it was sent out, i guess they verified the problem and after a week and a half i was instructed to return back to local bestbuy and they issued a store credit on a card for me to purchase another microwave. I kept this review at a 5 star rating deapite it breaking down after almost 4 years because multiple time daily use for almost 4 years straight in my book is pretty impressive. This thing literally did everything. i turned around and used the store credit to buy the same exact model i did 4 years ago. I did buy the 4 year warranty again, because it proved to be a good investment on this model. Its a great kitchen appliance and saves so much counter space. I was able to get rid of the toaster oven and only pull out our double basket air fryer as needed.

Not impressed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took it out of the box and read the instructions, plugged it in and couldn't get it to do anything. The digital readout just showed a code that meant it wasn't getting power and that it needed to go to a service center. Not impressed at all right now. I expected it to at least work for a while since it was new out of the box.

Defective right out of box
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Didn’t work right out of box. Haven’t been able to use it for more than 1 second. Got the H97 code. Hard for me to return it to the store as I am a truck driver that hardly ever goes home. Won’t be buying another Panasonic product.

It really delivers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of those products that you need to get used to and play with to really appreciate all it can do and determine how it fits into your meal schedule. The first thing I loved is that it is about the same size as my microwave so I was able to just switch them out with no loss of counter space. I like that I can now have the convenience of a microwave without having to then switch something over to the oven to brown it, the combo setting takes care of all that. The air fryer is so easy to use and I like being able to just throw a handful of fries or a few pieces of chicken in without the guilt of using the old one for just me. Because the multi-oven is a good size, cooking a casserole or roast doesn't present a problem. I have a different multi-appliance but it really is too small for a roast or baking dish. This multi-oven only goes up to 425 degrees so if you have things you cook at a higher temperature, you'll still need to use your regular oven. Given I only go over that temperature about twice a year, not a problem for me. There is an app you can download to get more recipes than the ones which come with the multi-oven and the app tailors the recipe accordingly. It also comes with a safety lock so you can make sure the kids, or the dog, don't accidently turn it on due to the big start button. You can also turn off the beep which signals when the cycle is complete. I do miss the number pad and the ability to just hit a number and the microwave automatically turns on for that amount of time. I'm sure as I use it more, this will be less of an issue. My big complaint with it is the small thin buttons and small writing which is difficult for old and/or tired eyes. Overall, the multi-oven is very versatile and great for dorm rooms, small apartments or for someone who would like a spare oven without it taking up a bunch of room.

Love my Panasonic 4- in-1. Because...why not?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great little invention. Purchased over two years ago and zero problems. You can't mount it over the range but more than worth the counter space as it does all four cooking styles perfectly. My favorite is the sensor reheat in which even fish and hollandaise sauce are reheated without curdling or getting rubbery. Only caveat is this machine cooks itself with exhaust function a lot. It will make it last longer since the internal components benefit from not staying hot but if you are exhaust sound adverse you be forewarned. Love that you can bake with or without preheating, love the Preset dish option and love the steam clean self cleaning option. It comes with a pan a rack and a air fryer mesh basket, Just look in the guide to see which of those you need for the cooking mode you selected. I really don't even use my real oven anymore. i

Replaces 2 Items in my Kitchen!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, if you're installing this product (instead of placing it on the counter), unless you know exactly what you're doing, hire a professional. This product weighs about 37 pounds, so it is not light and you don't want to mess around with it if you don't know what you're doing. I bought the optional trim kit (NN-TK81KCS) and had my handyman install it for me. I love that this replaces my microwave AND my toaster oven. I don't have the biggest kitchen, so the space savings is huge for me. So far, I've used the microwave function, air fried vegetables (asparagus and green beans - a healthier way to do tempura veggies), and the broiler to finish off some french onion soup. I found everything to work as I expected. The settings are super easy to understand to change functions from the microwave, to the fryer, etc. Did I mention how many other appliances this can replace? I love that I can bake and broil in it and not have to heat up my big oven. Plus, I can get rid of my standalone airfryer. Everything worked as expected, and since I got it installed in my kitchen, I'm saving a ton of counter space. Highly recommend!

Awesome Replacement
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am currently staying in an apartment for work & had purchased what ended up being such a small microwave that it wouldn’t pop a bag of microwaveable popcorn without the bag being stuck midway through cooking; it would expand, the table would turn but the bag had nowhere to go. This did not make for a tasty snack when watching a movie, the big fight or any other sporting event. I had been thinking about getting a new microwave but just couldn’t pull the trigger. When I saw this come available I knew it would fit the bill! I have received a few different cooking appliances this year & this one seemed to round it all out nicely. First impressions: Holy cow! This microwave is huge! I looked at the dimensions before receiving it to ensure it would fit but didn’t really get an idea of the scale when doing the measurements. Once I got it out of the box I realized it didn’t have the area for ventilation that it probably needed so I ended up moving it to the other side of the apartment sink. This meant I had to place my coffee maker, coffee grinder, pressure/slow cooker combo all on the other side of the sink in a much smaller area than normal. Oh well. Price to pay for an air fryer, broiler, convection oven & microwave that is all-in-one. Setup was pretty straight forward but the directions vs actual setup was a little off. For instance, it told me to set the clock when first powering it on. Hit a button to exit that, set up the weight, etc but it didn’t work that way. Maybe it was because I let it time out the first time after plugging it in? I unplugged it for about 10 seconds, plugged it back in, set the time & same thing again. Weird. Pushed buttons, got it all set. We’re good now. First Use: I had gotten some food specifically to test. First up was a microwaveable calzone. It did really well. Wasn’t the greatest tasting meal, but that’s reheating a calzone (normally not good anyway lol), can’t expect Gordon Ramsay level food there. More Uses: Next I had some cookies I wanted to do in the convection oven. Back 10 years ago I had access to a convection oven & my guilty pleasure as well as what everyone asked me to do was make homemade chocolate chip cookies & do them in the convection oven as I’d found a way to make them better than in the normal oven. You know, warm, soft, goofy. Absolutely heavenly. I can say, because I had my sons with me this past week due to their being out of school, I still have the Midas touch with cookies in the convection oven....I’m gonna be about 40 lbs heavier. The following day, since one of my sons loves the chicken fries, we gave it a good in air fryer mode instead of using our normal air fryer. They came out crispy & perfect. One appliance I can now get rid of to free up space-that’s winning! I could continue on but you get the idea. This 4-in-1 multi-kitchen tool is gonna be a space & life saver. I love how it comes with some ideas of what to cook. I go home on the weekends but throughout the week I’m working 12+ hour days so anything to help simplify the cooking process is a welcome addition for me. I seriously love this thing! Any Cons: Not really. The dial knob was kinda different compared to the ultra simple microwaves I’ve always had previously but I’m mostly use to this style control because my pressure/slow smart cooker combo has a similar interface. If you are looking for a 90s, 2000s style microwave then this isn’t it. But if you’re looking at this then you already know that. While it is rather large it a has 4 uses so it will actually save space! I love mine & will be sharing my love of this with my family so they purchase one as well. You’ll love yours too, so go ahead and buy it already!

Panasonic hit a Home Run with the HomeChef!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks: The beautiful stainless steel sleek, modern minimalist design looks fantastic! Size: The glass turntable is just over 14”. Plenty of room for a large pizza. Also, I was able to spread out 2 large sweet potato cut fries in one layer in the air-fryer basket. Controls: The controls are simple looking (just 6 buttons & a dial); however, I had to rely heavily on the User Manual (paper copy included) to operate each function. Not entirely intuitive, but the more I use it, the less I need to refer back to the Manual. Function: I’ve never had an appliance that could microwave AND bake. This is amazing! It can Broil, Air Fry, Convection Bake & Microwave. The Microwave is a bit more powerful than my old unit (which I’m happily sending to the dump). The Sensor Reheat option is wonderful! You can place a cold, previously cooked item inside, press the dial/start, & it will automatically sense when to stir & when to stop heating. I didn’t have much success with the AirFry function. I tried it with some fresh sweet potato fries using the AirFry Chart in the manual. They came out golden brown & evenly cooked, but not crispy at all (except at the very tips). They were actually a little rubbery on the outside & mushy on the inside. Definitely could not have cooked them any longer (28 min with 30-40min recommended). I’ll withhold judgement on that function until I try again as it could be user error. :-) The Convection Bake mode truly shines. Everything I’ve tried comes out evenly cooked & actually better than my gas oven. A prime example is bacon. I always have to flip & turn the bacon strips in my gas oven to get them evenly cooked. I didn’t have to make any adjustments with this oven. You do need to adjust your recipes if you’re not used to convection however. It requires much less cooking time than a conventional oven. Overall: Combining the beautiful appearance with all the cooking functions needed in a standard kitchen & Panasonic’s reputation for durability, this oven gets 5 stars all the way.
