Great Microwave for small counter tops.

For several years I had a full sized microwave that was very powerful, but it took up a lot of counter space. I loved that microwave, but I recently moved from my old house that had a huge kitchen, with a lot of counter space to spare, into an apartment with a very small kitchen. I brought that huge microwave with me because it still worked wonderfully, and I thought it would fit OK in the smaller kitchen, but I was wrong. So, I was forced to give the huge microwave to charity, and I began my search for a much smaller microwave that would still have the power I was used to having. I shopped around on-line for several days looking for the right microwave, but all I could find were microwaves that were the right size, but not strong enough in the power mode. I really thought I would have to give in, and purchase the weaker but smaller models I had been seeing everywhere, but then I decided to give Best Buy a chance. And thank God I did! This microwave is the perfect size, and was the perfect power mode. Best Buy was also very easy for me to purchase the microwave on-line, then pick it up at my local Best Buy the very next day.

This is our second of this model.

The first MW we had of this model had a bad switch on the door, so the door did not close smoothly. After a couple of years, the switch started going out and the only way to get the MW to work was to slam the door (which the manufacturer recommended against to keep the MW working properly). When the unit finally failed completely after we had it about 3 years, we decided we liked this model so much that we were willing to give it another try and purchased the same model but one built later. This new unit is great!! The door closes quietly and smoothly--so obviously Panasonic has corrected the issue with the door switch. We anticipate this unit having a long life in our kitchen. We love the Sensor Cook, the defrost feature, and the availability of power levels. All in all, this is a great microwave.

    Microwave Updated

We replaced our old microwave with this one, which we chose after looking at reviews online. It is so much faster than our old one, but don't know if that's the norm now or just that ours was so out of date. It is roomy enough for everything we'll need; easy to operate, and doesn't take up as much space as our old one either. We haven't had it much more than a month, so can't vouch at this point for longevity, but we are very happy with it so far.

This microwave has surpassed all expectations. Heats quickly, defrosts well, and the sensor cook makes frequently cooked items easy to prepare. Still working well after 11 months of use.

I have owned at least 3 of these microwaves made by Panasonic. This one is the noisest , very loud, . It cooks great and I like inverter technology. The main problem is it does not last very long. You will be lucky to get 2 years out of it. All mine failed before 2 years. That is why I always get extended warranty . One almost got to 3 years. Our kitchen is black and grey so this is one that comes in black. That is one reason I keep buying them. If I could find an LG in black I would buy that one.

    Really Nice

Fist off, stop whining about the light on the door only works when the microwave is on. I can't imagine any of you not able to prepare a meal without lights on. You don't need a light to put the meal into the microwave. it has nothing to do with how the microwave performs. I had it out of the box and ready to use in less than 5 minutes This microwave does what it's suppose to, and it does it well. It cooks meals fast and evenly. Other than setting the time, I didn't have to read the manual. This unit's buttons operate like any other microwave. I haven't tried cooking using the sensor. That wasn't high on my priority list when I purchased it. The cord on it is a bit short, but this is OK, for me, because of where I have the unit laying on. I am very pleased with it.

I knew my old microwave was slowing down but getting this showed me just how fast and hot a micrwave can be! I am completely satidfied with it except that the glass tray does not turn the way my old one did making it more difficult, but not impossible, to move something to the front or turn it so the handle is accessable. I am very pleased that I chose this microwave!

    Worked Great Until It Didn't

Bought this microwave based, at the time, on the great reviews. I see they aren't as great as they were then. We've had this unit for less than 2 years, and it just died. It worked the way we expected it to - heated stuff quickly, but then one day, in the middle of heating, it just turned off. It is completely dead. I thought I was getting a decent microwave that would last 4 or 5 years, as my last ones have, but it seems that appliances are just not made to last any longer than 2 years anymore. Sad.

    Best microwave, but flawed

This is the best microwave I have ever had! I bought it for the bar downstairs, so I wouldn't have to walk upstairs for popcorn. Now I walk up and down the stairs every time I fix dinner, because this is better than the full size Samsung in the kitchen. The best part is the "Inverter Technology". Most microwaves will cycle on and off when the power level is reduced, so the food gets full blast for 30 seconds, and nothing for 30 seconds. This microwave will reduce the power from 1200 watts to 600 watts continuously. This works much better for thawing delicate frozen foods, melting butter or chocolate, or keeping something warm. I thawed a pound of scallops according to the instructions, and they were thawed completely and evenly with no edges being cooked. The build quality is excellent, the noise level is quiet, and I like the vents on the side and back, so I can put it on a shelf with a shelf just above it. Now for the flaws: The light doesn't come on when the door is open. Please add $5 to the price and hook the light up to the door! Second, there is no indication of the power level. On most microwaves, you enter the time first, then the power level. On this one, you enter the power level first, by pressing the power level button multiple times to reduce it by 10% each button press, then you enter the time. You can even enter up to 3 cooking stages of different power levels and times. But there is no indication of the power level you entered while the oven is running! In most microwaves you can hear the power level as the oven cycles, but because of the inverter technology, this one runs all the time and you have to rely on your memory. The sensor cook feature works perfectly. I use it for frozen vegetables, and they come out perfect with no additional time required. But to select "#9 Frozen Vegetables", I have to press the sensor cook button 9 times. Wouldn't it be simpler to just enter the number on the keypad? To conclude, the functioning of this microwave is excellent, but the user interface leaves much to be desired, and you must read and understand the complicated manual to get the most out of this oven.

    Good choice for me

I had a GE Sensor which I loved, (similar to this) which developed a keypad malfunction issue and could not be fixed - barely a year old. Looked for something with same features - this performs well and so far has been a good product. I read some people were upset the interior light does not go on when the door is opened - not a problem for me. I do find that sometimes I have to work at latching the door - it does not just push shut with a slight finger touch. My biggest peeve is that the sensor cooking does not give you a clue of how long it will take for each setting once you start it, so you cannot see when the item will be ready. It seems to cook properly with the sensor but the GE did a better job of letting you know how much longer it was going to cook. However, the GE broke, and that model has been discontinued, so this was my next best option and I would pick it again.

After 35 years of faithful service my Sharp Microwave finally stopped working. This Panasonic was exactly what I was looking for. It arrived on time as stated and works great. Lot's of power so heating time can be somewhat reduced. Can't find anything wrong with this. Large capacity. Turntable works fine. It has 10 different heat settings including defrost, cook delay, a keep warm feature, and it's very quiet. For the price of this machine, you can't go wrong!!

This Panasonic microwave replaces one made by GE that lasted only 7 months then suddenly quit. Best Buy did not exactly welcome me with open arms when I brought the defective unit back, until I explained a third time, this time to the store manager, that the manufacturer directed me to do so. The Panasonic unit works fine--nothing special--but it works.

When looking for a microwave, my initial search was focused around what I could get for under a hundred dollars. I wasn't too concerned with a microwave that heated a hot pocket and could access Facebook. After looking over hundreds of customer reviews on different models I ended up purchasing this. I got an excellent deal with sales and my Best Buy Rewards. After getting this set up and using it I would definitely buy this microwave even if I had to pay full price. The features are plenty and the power is great! Cook times are quick and you get a lot of options which work exactly the way they're supposed to. Very impressed and satisfied with my selection. The stainless steel model looks good on my counter too.
