Customers are saying

Customers love the size, ease of use, and heating speed of this 1.2 Cu. Ft. Microwave with Sensor Cooking. Many appreciate its reasonable price and the overall performance. However, some customers point out the lack of interior lighting and a slightly higher-than-average noise level as drawbacks. Other minor concerns include the door mechanism and the timer functionality.

Very hard to open and close door

I was 100% satisfied with my previous microwave of 14-yrs. After doing my research I went to the store with the intention of buying the 1.2 Panasonic Model NN-SN661S. But I tired to open and close the door of the display model and it was very hard to handle, to the point I used both hands to close the door (I am not a weak person). The door also sticks when you press the button to open so you have to pull it open. I also tired another Panasonic model and it had the same door issue, so the problem was not unique to the first floor model. My husband tried the door and agreed that it would be a problem. So we switched to our 2nd choice LG 1.5, which is slightly bigger but the door action is very smooth and so far the operation is comparable to our previous microwave. I wouldn't buy this unit without being able to test the door switch, or you could fine yourself making a second trip to return it.

I bought the SN651WA model on July 22 and it stopped working on Sept. 13. Now it's a huge pain to get it serviced under the warranty as the local companies that do the work are not open on a Saturday.

For the price it is a very good microwave. Not many bells & whistles but then again it is not expensive.

The microwave lasted only 5 months. Best buy expected that you pay additional for extended warranty. Don't waste your time and money. Go somewhere else.

    Very Disappointed

This is a ok Microwave for boiling water. What stinks the most is that the when you open the door ON ANY PANASONIC the light DOES NOT I repeat DOES NOT come on at all. Only when your cooking does it come in. NO quick buttons for cooking. I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER Panasonic. SHARP OR KENWOOD IS THE BEST. I had my last Sharp for 12 years and it finally gave in. WARNING DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY WITH IT. Now they wont take it back. GREAT EMPLOYEES! A++

This microwave worked for six months. I had to drive 28 miles to drop it off for repair. I still don't know if they can repair this microwave as the repairman said they are backed up? Who knows how long I will be waiting?? Very disappointed!

    Underpowered?

We purchased this a month ago, and it has consistently been very underpowered - it takes 3 minutes (at least) to reheat a plate, and WAY too long for frozen things. Might be broken? Disappointed, and out of the return window. Sigh.

The microwave itself functions well but the buttons are getting nicks on them. It looks as if it was scraped. This is all after regular use. Not sure why that's happening. Only had it since May.

Broke within 6 months - warranty center far

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

    1) Very poor reliability -Stopped working within 6 months of once a day use . Panasonic warranty language is misleading - warranty card says mail-in service available but actually it is only carry in service - and nearest service center is abut 20 miles away. In comparison I had Toshiba and Sears microwaves - each lasted 5 - 7 years. 2) Interior light goes off once the machine finishes - even if the door is open 3) Poor ventilation within microwave - built up steam / moisture is drips thru the door if you open the door fully. Never seen in other manufacturers. Definitely not buy this brand again.

basic features of 1.6 cuft models not in 1.2 model

Only had room for 1.2 cuft model, not 1.6. Key pad is hard to read and not back lighted. 1,2 cuft compartment light does not go on when door is opened as it does on 1.6 cuft models. This is cheap automotive marketing trick to get people to pay for upgrade to get basic features. Ended up buying Kenmore 1.2 instead.

    Worked for almost a month.

At shop.panasonic.com the number three question is No lights? "Unplug the unit from the power outlet. After about 1 minute, reconnect and test the unit. Please make sure that it is plugged in to a dedicated grounded 3 prong outlet. It worked twice. "If the problem persists, your unit may need of service. Go to the Support page of the website, and under the "Find A Service Center" category, enter the model number and your zip code." Now I have a twenty five mile drive to a Panasonic Authorized Service Center.
