Customers are saying

Customers praise the 1.3 Cu. Ft. Mid-Size Microwave for its size, ease of use, and powerful performance at a reasonable price. Many appreciate its quiet operation and sleek design. However, some users note that the interior light is missing, the door can be difficult to open, and the buttons may require more pressure than expected. A few also mention inconsistencies in heating and limitations with the timer functionality.

    Great while it lasted

This was my second purchase of basically the same model. I really loved this microwave. Perfect size and easy to use. Well, it's now vibrating and smells like burning electrical. Right side is very hot. Means the magnetron is failing. The unit is only 3 yrs old. The prior one lasted about 5 yrs which was ok but not long. 3 yrs is ridiculous. Panasonic quality is clearly failing.

    Wish I Loved This Microwave

Do you want lukewarm food with first degree burns? If so, this is the microwave for you! I had a Panasonic 1.6 cu ft, 1100 watt microwave for almost 10 years. It worked great and looked great, but unfortunately bit the dust in early June 2016. I spent hours researching a new microwave, including different brands and sizes. My wife and I wanted a smaller microwave for more counter space, and did like the dependability of Panasonic. The stainless steel exterior was also a plus. For those reasons, we went with this model. We have been using the microwave daily for the past 3 months, and I'm hoping it's close to being "broken in" because it heats food horribly compared to our previous microwave. One would think that this microwave would have no trouble heating food for the same amount of time or even faster given it's smaller size and similar wattage. However, we have to run the microwave for an extra 30 seconds to a minute for the same item we put in the old microwave. So by the time you actually have warm to hot food, your bowl/plate is so hot that you can get 1st degree burns (or at least it feels like it). I have to use a couple oven mitts to take the dish out of the microwave when its done. The reason I gave it 2 stars was because of the look and size, but it should cook food near perfect and it doesn't. I'm really not sure if there is a fault in the microwave or this is how it's supposed to be. For comparison, here are some cooking times for previous (P) and current (C) microwave: 1) Bowl of refried beans: P = 1m25s. C = 2m 2) Sweet Potato: P = 3m, rotate then 3m. C = 4m, rotate then 4m 3) 1 Cup of rice: P = 5m. C = 6m

Works well, but you need a flashlight to see the letters and #'s on the control panel! If you're ordering online, don't rely on the picture regarding the looks of the control buttons!

    Lasted 20 Months

I picked this up at Best Buy in 2016. The buttons had to be pushed in hard to work properly, and they were like that from the start. The unit itself worked okay until this past week. It started making noise as the glass platter turned, took much longer to heat up, and now it has a burnt odor to it if you try to use it. Even though I hated the buttons, t's so disappointing to have to throw it away. I won't be buying this Panasonic model again.

Bought 4/9/2020 worked fine until I microwaved a cup of water for tea for 2:22. When I reached for the cup the water blew up, scalded me, and the microwave stopped working.

    Inverter Technology - NOT!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

As of this writing, Best Buy incorrectly describes this model as having Panasonic's Inverter technology. It does not. As this feature was the main reason for the purchase, I had to abide by the inconvenience of having to return it to the store for an exchange which was handled quickly. As a customer of this store for almost 20 years, I continue to be impressed by the quality of service. Otherwise, until I noticed (rather quickly) the obvious no-Inverter behavior of the oven, it did perform OK as a standard microwave oven. So, there's no reason I wouldn't recommend it to a friend if they asked me about it. Except I would suggest they get one with Inverter. A such, two stars is for Best Buy Web team's failure to pay attention to details. Let's see if it gets corrected.

    Good Microwave for the Price

We have used our Microwave for around 4 years until the door became a problem. It's now to a point where we have to open it and shut if multiple times before the microwave turns on. Until that problem, it was a good microwave for the money. We will be purchasing another brand this time.

when I would open the after cooking something, steam would pour out, the interior would be all wet and the interior of the glass door would be all steamy and wet. Also, the buttons were a but difficult to push. I had to return it.

    Stopped working

I bought this microwave, and it worked fine until the door started malfunctioning. There is no reason for the door, on a microwave, to malfunction within 2 months. If everything else fails, one would think at least the DOOR would work. Panasonic was zero help. Mind you, they advertise a 1 year warranty. They send you to the website, to decipher a bunch of nonsense, before you find a phone number to call. Then they tell YOU, to take it to a repair shop and get it fixed out your own pocket. Yeah OK, I sat it out by the trash (where it belongs) the same day. Do not buy this product. A colossal waste of money.

Broke one week after 1 year warranty

This microwave worked fine for one year, other than the door was hard to open and close, making it noisy to use say at night or in the morning. Then today it would not turn off unless the door was open. One week out of warranty. I checked Google and found the problem is probably the door latch that triggers the power button. So a common problem that should not happen one year out for Panasonic. Do not buy! Or get the 4 year extended warranty if you do buy.

    Meh

It’s ok. No light when you open the door, I can live with. However now that it’s out of warranty, I’ve had to replace the drive motor once and now the keypad is flaky. We don’t use the microwave other than for heating beverages and light cooking (eg frozen meals). Shame, our LG was so much better. Sad it was discontinued.

I didn't read the negative reviews, just the positive. Mistake on my part. I had the same issues, noisy when rotating, no light. Mine has now died after 18 months. I'm not sure paying more equates to quality anymore. Buyer beware.

The microwave is fine, but it is poor that it only lasted 2 years. I have bought many Panasonic products and disappointed that this one lives such a short life. Will reconsider my support of Panasonic.

Not sure why this gets great reviews. The interior light operates when in use but turns off when the door is open. Again, no light when the door opens. Mandatory feature for me. It's being returned. Also the door open switch mechanism is kind of wonky and feels cheap.
