I bought this mircowave after a lot of research. Panasonic seemed to be in the top five of all the surveys. I love the dial feature instead of pushing a lot of buttons. Love the inverter "reheat" and "cook" buttons. Some things may take a little longer, but it cooks so evenly and it takes the guess work out of figuring out the time you need. I also love that the "cook" settings for many foods are printed on the lower part of the inside front of the appliance. I would have prefered a stainless interior, but so far it has been easy to clean. 100% satisfied with this microwave.

I had hoped, after reading all the nightmare reviews, that I would not be a statistic. I am returning this microwave tomorrow. I purchased it on April 25. On May 15--first the light would not go off. Unplugged the unit. Light would still stay on, but now the turntable constantly turned and would not turn off. Unplugged it again. Unit went into demo mode. "Press Any Key" OK, pressed them all, but would not go out of demo mode. Unplugged it again. Still stuck in demo mode...but now it says the door is open--but it's not. Open and close the door several times. Still says door is open. Hit the stop/clear button several times. No change. This unit is fried, and I bet it had less than 20 minutes of total cooking time. I'm VERY disappointed. At least Best Buy is letting me return it tomorrow....and I purchased the Geek Squad 4 year extended warranty. I fully expect them to transfer the extended warranty over to the new unit as this failure is clearly covered under the Panasonic warranty.

works as advertised...best option is inverter...defrost works amazingly and no cold spots when reheating foods!

JUNK!!! WILL NOT BUY PANASONIC EVER AGAIN I purchased this for my home 7/21/2011 after having purchased one for my office a few months earlier. Seemed to work well, easy to use. Just about the 1 year mark the one in my office died - simply would not work. I replaced it with another brand. Today 8/29/2012 the one at home also died - it shuts off after 30 seconds and gives a code which is not even defined in the Troubleshooting section. Of course it is barely 1 month past the warranty. My last microwave at home was a Maytag - I got it as a wedding gift in 1984 - it lasted until July 2011! No that is a product! Obiviously this is made purely as a disposable product (waste of money, and resourses!) and then they try to hook you on extended warranties to keep you "covered". First time (work micro) shame on me - 2nd time -- SHAME ON YOU PANASONIC FOR MAKING SUCH A WORTHLESS PIECE OF GARBAGE!!!

Love the larger size, so can fit all those tall cups and larger bowls.

Exactly what a microwave should be. Looks great, works great.

Everything you want a microwave to be - this is it. One con: when you push the button to open the door, the door sticks sometimes; especially frustrating when you're trying to open the door pushing the button with one hand while the other hand has a dish of food in it. You have to pull on the bottom of the door to get it opened

The dial on the front threw me at first but after a few uses it works really well. It's also a very powerful unit.

Large size can fit just about anything. Sensor heating option is awesome. Great price! Steal!

Had an exactly same model nearly 20 years. Finally died. So happy to find out it is still in production. This time around the inside has LED light bulb. The most satisfying appliance ever owned.

Bought this Panasonic NN-SD987 Counter-top microwave oven in 2014. In 2016 the door latch sensor got messed up somehow and the microwave would not function, so we returned it for a (extended) warranty replacement. Got a new NN-SD987- Exact same model. Within 2 years we had the same problem with the door sensor. This time my wife searched online and found a fix: lube the door latch, I think. This continued to be a problem on and off. Two days ago this microwave suddenly started showing this error code: "H98" We were locked out- the microwave was useless (but the clock still works; yay!). Now I'm looking for a repair center (Panasonic's Repair center search website is down). I'm thinking it might be under warranty if it's the Magnetron (5-year warranty) failing. I'm looking for a new microwave brand to buy (not Panasonic) that is truly reliable. A good microwave oven should last at least 10-years...

Purchased this to replace an older Panasonic damaged by a power surge. I like the single knob controller better than the older numeric pad as it's quicker and more convenient. All the sensor functions work fantasticly.

I replaced my 20 years old Whirlpool microwave with Panasonic NN-SD987s from BestBuy about 10 months ago. I can’t believe that it stopped working couple days ago. It is a nice microwave with lots of features compare to my old Whirlpool. But the quality is not acceptable. Only least for 10 months! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find my receipt. It won’t be justify fixing it. Looks like I have to buy another one. This time, it won't be Panasonic.

It's just an amazing product, it's elegant, big, and works great!!!!
