Had to learn fast after Geek Squad left this microwave, but failed to hook up a gas range on the same day both were delivered. It's hard to decipher all the icons necessary to perform simple functions, but I'm learning enough to heat frozen meals.

Why would you remove the number keypad from a microwave??? Setting a time to cook is really annoying since you have to scroll through the numbers to get to the time instead of selecting from a keypad like EVERYTHING ELSE!

The Panasonic Genius Prestige is a classy looking microwave that does a great job of cooking and reheating foods evenly. Panasonic uses a new inverter technology to help cook foods evenly without cold/frozen spots or hot/burnt spots. Setting it up was a breeze and there's a very intuitive menu system that gets you started quickly or allows you to set cook timer. Large, spacious, easy to clean both inside and out, I'll enjoy this microwave for years to come!

For years I have always just thought of a microwave as just that, all same same and nothing special. Well this microwave changed that! This is a big unit, the largest microwave I've ever had, you could easily fit a decent size turkey in here to defrost so make sure you have the space needed in the area you plan to place it. It's simple to use and the touch panel is great, very responsive and not super bright like a lot of digital clocks on others microwave units. The stainless look is really nice but due to the size of the device you do get some flex on the top of the microwave. When it comes to using then this thing is great! It's very powerful and if you're not careful you can over cook food but this is something you get used too. I love that I know when I place an item in the microwave and when it comes out that it's actually hot. Also I love how quite this microwave is, it's so nice not to have something that's so noisy like cheap microwaves. Overall I love this microwave, it's opened my eyes to seeing that not all microwaves do the same. I highly recommend this, it's fantastic and worth every penny.

    A microwave for 21st century

This microwave is the new generation of microwaves. The sleek look is very attractive, but it is what's inside that makes this microwave great. It is very spacious and accepts full size plates. The microwave truly cooks evenly. No more cold spots in your microwaved food. The sensor cook feature monitors the food and adjusts the temperature to not undercook or overcook your food. The defrost feature works well too. It defrosts without 'decomposing' your food. The microwave has many preset options for popcorn, defrosting, and reheating. The keypad is different. There are no numbers, but instead it has icons. It takes a bit getting used to, but once you do it is smooth sailing. The 1250 watt microwave makes this a behemoth of cooking ability. I am sure we will own this for many years to come. A microwave for the 21st century.

I didn’t realize how big this was until I received it. This is. 1250Watt microwave which is the best i have used so far in terms of power. My old one was a 1000 watt one. This thing comes with inverter technology which is supposed to help with keeping the heat at a more steady pace instead of going higher and lower and it seems to works great. It also has sensors to detect when the food should be ready by sensing the water level in the food which works almost all the time as well. To work this it is a bit different using a touch panel which has a slider to increase time instead of a number pad. It also has a rapid defrost button and others like popcorn and etc. for the price you get your monies worth imho if you just want something more then a basic one.

Pictographs, really? I'd rather have a dial...

Right off the bat I'll admit that I'm deducting a star because of the touch pad... the only way I could see it as being usefull would be in a 3rd world country where they don't know how to use a microwave... everyone else in the world knows how to use a standard touch pad. Never in my life have I ever used a microwave touch pad and said to myself, "Gee, I sure wish someone would make this thing harder to use, and way more confusing..." And I've never met anyone who expressed that thought to me in conversation either... Second gripe... the "stainless cover" The front of the microwave looks great, and it matches my other stainless appliances... the rest of the microwave is a blueish chrome tinted stainless, that jumps out as being odd and weird, and doesn't match anything else in my kitchen. It would be nice if the cabinet was black like every other microwave I've ever owned... I mean black goes with everything... weird bluish chrome stainless doesn't go with anything... So now that I've gotten the bad out of the way, on to the good: 1st. It's powerfull!!! 2nd. It's powerfull!!! 3rd, It's got a smart sensor that detects the steam level coming off of your food and it will self adjust the power. I have yet to have anything boil over which is awesome! However, some stuff takes longer to cook because the microwave throttles down the power once the steam level gets to high. 4th: It's got a huge cooking area... I'm not 100% but it sure looks like I could fit a whole Turkey inside if I wanted to... It will obviously hold anything else I could ever dream of cooking. Minor annoyances: 1st. The popcorn button... it only has 3 settings, and they aren't adjustable. Where did they get the settings from??? None of my favorite brands of popcorn are any of the settings in size... so I have to use it the old fashioned way and just hit the longest time program and then listen until the popping slows to the amount suggested on the popcorn bag and then stop the microwave manually... what's the point in having a popcorn setting that doesn't match any of the popular popcorn bag sizes, but also isn't user adjustable? 2nd: 75% of all the "Genius" features will only work correctly if the user pre preps the food specifically to be used in the microwave... there is a bunch of instructions in the users manual that tells you how to do it, and none of it is how a normal person would normally refrigerate or freeze their food. The microwave smart features also don't work on store bought frozen meals either so when you microwave a TV dinner, just like the popcorn, you're back to following the instructions on the dinner instead of the microwave... All of the minor nagging issues wouldn't be so bad except they come right back around to my original gripe with this microwave, and thats the silly pictographic keypad that nobody asked for and which makes making adjustments slow and confusing... Also did I mention that if you press any of the smart functions to cook something and then want to add some time to it before it's finished because you can see it's not cooked all the way yet, the add 30 sec button doesn't work... it only works if you use the cumbersome plus or minus slider bar when you first start it up to cook... All of the pictograph nonsense makes me wish I just had an old fashioned timer dial from the 70's instead...

    A Truly Great Microwave

The Panasonic Genius Prestige Plus 2.2 Cubic Feet Microwave with Sensor Cooking is a major step forward for microwaves. The Panasonic Genius Prestige makes cooking/defrosting/reheating easy and eventually intuitive with a display of “pictures/pads” on the menu with corresponding display window. There are 9 essential “pictures/pads” on the menu that helps operate the Panasonic Microwave. The more often you use the “pictures/pads” the easier it gets to use the Microwave. I believe there is a learning curve to understand how things work. Have the instruction booklet handy, you will need it starting out. The Microwave has a variety of features that will do cooking/defrosting/reheating. The “pictures/pads” help to navigate the use of the Microwave. The 9 “pictures/pads” represent: Popcorn, Sensor/Cook Reheat, Power Level Coffee/Milk, Quick 30 sec, Cooking Timer Inverter Turbo, Keep Warm, Clock set There is a slider bar just above the “pictures/pads” options. This slider bar is what I use most for cooking time. There is a plus on one side and a negative on the other with 3 pictures in between. I have eggs every morning. It is easy to hold down the positive symbol to add time to cook. If you hold the positive symbol down for a short time, it moves time in 5 secs intervals instead of just inching up 1 sec at a time. I love this feature and use the most. When I get the temperature I want, I touch the “picture/pad” for starting the microwave. This is incredibly handy and makes the microwave very friendly. The main thing I noticed is that my eggs cooked faster than the previous microwave I used to have. I got thoroughly cooked eggs 5 whole secs faster. The reason this Panasonic Microwave heats so well is because of the Inverter Technology. This technology heats food evenly at all temperature levels with continuous heat. This is opposed to pulse heating. Pulse heating doesn’t cook evenly because it blasts the food with pulses of heat. The Inverter Technology makes the edges as well as the middle of your food cook evenly. No more mushy or cool middles in the center of the Panasonic Microwave. This features works really well. Another feature that helps make this Panasonic Microwave a step above the rest is the Cyclonic Wave Technology. This technology heats in 3D. This results in precise heating making food heating and tasting better. I have to admit I have not noticed a better taste from food heating up in this manner. But food is evenly cooked and I do enjoy that. Touch the Sensor cooking or reheating “picture/pad” to make cold food hot and ready to eat. Then select reheat symbol on the slider bar. Lastly touch the start “picture/pad.” Warming up hamburgers or hotdogs is great with this feature. Food should be already cooked before this operation. It is mainly for cold food from the fridge to the Panasonic Microwave. There is also a more/less up and down triangles on the menu toward the bottom. This provides extra time (up) or less time (down) when cooking things like coffee/milk or foods like popcorn. This is convenient if you want things a little warmer or colder. There is also a feature called Inverter Turbo Defrost. It will defrost frozen food items. Touch the Inverter Turbo Defrost “picture/pad” and the set the weight using the slider bar to put in the weight. Then touch the start “picture/pad.” There is a conversion table included in the instruction booklet with ounces, hundredths of pounds and tenths of pounds to help out. Be sure to let stand for a time before opening up the food so the middle can get cooked through thoroughly. Also the instruction gives examples of most commonly defrosted foods to assist in cooking with the Panasonic Microwave. The 2.2 cubic ft in the Panasonic Genius Prestige Plus actually makes a pretty big microwave. If you have a big kitchen, it will set nicely in an open space on the countertop. If you have a medium to small kitchen, the microwave really stands as “big.” For example the rotating glass surface in the microwave is 16.5”. This is not a fault, but getting used to the size of this microwave will take some time. The instruction booklet will be your best friend when you start out. Once you know what you are doing (after cooking with the microwave for some time), the Panasonic Microwave is pretty easy to use. I really enjoy the technology in the Panasonic Genius Prestige Plus 2.2 Cubic Feet Microwave with Sensor Cooking. It warms food up very well and thaws food out very well. The Inverter Technology and Cyclonic Wave Technology really help to elevate this Panasonic Microwave to another level of most useful microwaves. You will come to master the use of this Panasonic Microwave with little time and little reading.

Once you go Inverter you won't go back

This is my first inverter tech microwave and I will never go back to the old style pulsating magnets ever again. First off this thing is huge for a microwave don't underestimate how much counter space it takes it just barely fits snug under my cupboards. Packaging was fairly basic which is a plus not too much styrofoam to discard. Don't forget to remove the blue plastic scratch protection sheet! I found the operation of the microwave mildly more confusing than my old model. With no word descriptions only symbols. I suggest keeping the manual nearby the first week or so. My favorite function is the steam sensor reheat. Instead of choosing a time you just you let whatever you are making cook until the sensor detects steam from it and boom its perfectly cooked everytime. Its literally three button presses without having to constantly figure out the proper cook time. The touch panel feels very responsive and stays clean easily. Overall I love this microwave and I've found myself looking for things to reheat or heat the first time and have not been disappointed yet. Spend the extra for this.

    A Very Fancy Microwave

This microwave is perhaps the fanciest one I've ever owned or used and I am beyond happy with the results it produces. Sure, there are a lot of catch phrases that seem to perhaps come from the advertising department but they really do make a difference. First, read the included manual. You'll thank me later for that advice as unlike most microwaves this one does not have a traditional "key pad" for number/time entry. It uses pictographs for this. After a bit of a learning curve it was easy to master cooking/reheating food. Second, learn to trust that the microwave knows what it is doing! The built in sensors actually do their job which is a far cry from other microwaves I've used with "built in sensors". The Inverter tech in this thing is a god send for properly cooked and reheated food. Everything I've thrown at it has come out evenly heated. It is awesome! It's a bit on the larger side so remember that if counter space is at a premium. To make the best use of this microwave read the instructions! A great purchase!!!

In the box is the microwave and the plate insertion. Keep in mind that the owners manual maybe inside of the microwave and keep it close by because there are so many features and great information to read. I must admit that this is the first product that I have actually read the manual from the beginning to the end. The microwave is really big but it is very light. Make sure you have a place to store that allows for three of the sides to room for the vents. Also make sure you remove the plastic wrap that covers the whole microwave. (There is a warning label on the microwave to remind you as well. I absolutely love this microwave but I have to admit that it did take a little getting used to because there are no numbers, only . There is a 30 second button for quick heating and all of the other buttons are shaped to the task. The manual is very thorough and tells you what each button does and there are even recipes and instructions on how to cook different items. Another feature that I really like and I find very helpful is the child lock. Since the microwave works with sensors I highly recommend reading the manual and using the types of containers that is recommended. Overall, I really love this microwave. From the beautiful design, to the updated buttons, I am actually excited to use this machine to its full potential!

Our old microwave (only 5 years old) was noisy! This one is a counter model, and full sized, but it’s so much quieter! We no longer pause the TV to nuke our food. And the sensor cooking is accurate. No cold spots or searing hot ones. Even cooking, easy steaming, and intuitive controls. Only drawback is the dim light while cooking. I end up just opening the door to see the progress.

    A Great Microwave...With Pitfalls

This microwave is HUGE. That is a big plus for me and my family. There is plenty of room to heat up multiple bowls of leftovers at the same time. Using the steam sensor, reheating is a snap, as it automatically stops when the food should be ready. It is a very good looking microwave, and would look good in just about any kitchen, especially one primarily featuring stainless steel. The touch screen also looks very cool. That said, the touch screen doesn't have numbers, save the for +30 seconds button. I do not like this. While I get that all of the icons are supposed to make setting a cook time easier, I much prefer manually entering cook times. I worry that any house guests I have may have a difficult time using this microwave on their own. In summary, the Panasonic Genius Prestige Plus is a stylish, powerful microwave, but it seems to have tried to fix problems that didn't exist with the icon based touchpad.
