For the price paid (roughly $165), this microwave should have lasted longer than it has. I purchased it on 5/19/15 and it is already on its way out. There is some kind of short in the connection associated with shutting the door.

This purchase of this microwave is to replace the exact same one that we have had for 10 years. (We love this and are keeping spare working parts from old one just in case.) Love the features, size and power of this microwave and I was so happy when I went to get a new one and found that they still were making this one!! You can do everything in this one! Defrost, cook, bake, etc. and the sensor cook settings make using it a dream....especially if you have kids old enough and responsible enough to help out with the cooking....don't have to worry about over-cooking if they use one of the 8 sensor settings...Sensor reheat, popcorn, and the 8 sensor settings were a dream come true features for a microwave when I bought this one 10 years ago and I am so happy they are still making them!

I loved this microwave. And then 3 weeks after the warrantee ended it just stopped working. Suspiciously like "programmed self destruction". It's not only the money and inconvenience that galls me but the waste of my time!! Stay away!

    Oven Door Hard to Open

    Posted .

This Panasonic was purchased to replace a 3-1/2 year old similar-sized GE-Profile that failed. Relative to the GE, the Panasonic door latch requires significantly more force. To prevent oven movement, we cut slots in two 1/4" plywood pieces and wedged them behind the rear oven feet and the cabinet shelf back. We also experimented and found pressing the door button near the top required less effort than at the bottom. All this is important because the extra force stresses the mechanism. Other reviewers have complained about having to replace door opener parts. I now understand why. (Why hasn't Panasonic redesigned this long-standing door defect?) I recommend potential buyers compare door opening mechanisms in the store before buying. Several minor use efficiency differences between the Panasonic and GE-Profile include: the 'add time' button is 60 seconds instead of 30 and more keystrokes are required to initiate simple heating tasks. Why not buy another GE? Other reviewers complained about premature failure. I now understand why. Ending with a positive note, the overall heating/cooking is very good, the same as the GE, and unlike some reviewers we found the noise level acceptable and no interference with nearby electronic devices.

    One Year Later...

...and this is still a winner. My old microwave was very good, but the improvements over the years are significant. Now, after a year of use, I can tell you this microwave cooks very evenly, has an excellent defrost cycle and has plenty of power. I have absolutely no complaints about it whatsoever. I was pleasantly surprised at the price also. It was significantly less than comparable size microwaves. I read about problems with the hinges, but I haven't had any. Conscious of the reviews, I have taken care not to slam the door, but I see no evidence of any problems at all.

I recently purchased the Panasonic - Microwave Oven - White, and have been completely happy with it. It is powerful, cooks quickly, and large enough to handle almost anything inside of it. Good Deal!

    Great unit, easy to operate

I had a Panasonic like this one but an earlier model that we'd had for perhaps 15 years. We really liked it, but when the inside started to rust, I decided it was time to get a new one. We'd had a Sharp before that we also liked, so I bought a Sharp. But it arrived damaged, and when testing it I noticed the Sharp was quite noisy (as some reviews had stated). So when I returned it to BestBuy, I picked up this one as a replacement (same price). We couldn't be much happier. It's very easy to use. We use the defrost as well as the sensor reheat a lot, and they both work perfectly. The ONLY thing I'd improve would be to make the feet a bit grippier. This one is a little lighter than the one it replaces, and so sometimes when you push the button to open the door, you end up pushing the whole unit back. But that's a real nit compared with everything else - we love it.

Loved it so much, I'm getting a Third one!

We originally got this microwave for my family's home, and it gets used a lot! It is reliable, cooks evenly, and fits large items perfectly. I also find that it cooks things more quickly than the packaging suggests for most microwaved foods. I typically cook/boil spaghetti squash in the microwave using a 9 x 13 baking dish, and it has no trouble oscillating in the microwave. LOVE IT!! We liked the microwave so much, that we got the same exact one for our family-run business. Additionally, now that I am moving out of my family's home and into my own place, I will be purchasing this microwave for myself as well! I know I will be able to rely on this microwave for many years to come, and for many different purposes. As always, I recommend getting the extended warranty plan on appliances... especially because of the low price on this one. It's wonderful that it is so inexpensive, but if something fails on it, it is likely to cost the same (if not more) to fix it as you originally paid for the microwave. An extra $40 in this case can go a LONG way over 4 years if something happens to fail.

I like using this microwave. It has lots of features built in. Other than the door being a little off, I have no complaints so far. Easy to use with the help of the directions. I would rate it higher but for the door. Probably just the one I happen to have.

Although we've just got this ourselves, I've had one at work for several years, so I know it works great! Large size can handle anything, powerful and I like the inverter feature that cooks evenly. I'm old-school and like the fact that the pad numbers are used to enter the cook time, rather than you push a number and that's the number of minutes it cooks for (of course, my wife doesn't like that:)).

Got this for $159 +tax and free shipping to the house. Also bought the 2 year extended Geek Squad warranty. Oven shipped and arrived quickly. Discovered the next day that the front of the box was stabbed with something that went right into the glass front of the door. Called Best Buy and had the most painless return call in my life. While I was on the phone with a knowledgeable lady, she re-shipped the replacement! She said I would recieve a return label with shipping paid. I have not recieved the label yet. The oven is working great. I like the sensor reheat feature which senses humidity. I also like the popcorn button that allows choices of volume sizes. I have not cooked a meal using the manual's recipes yet, but I want to see if the oven can really cook that stuff and taste good. We do miss opening the door with a handle. Probably went to manufacturing with the button because of how light in weight it is. Pulling a handle might pull the oven off of the counter. Keep preaching to the kids to go easy on the door opening button. If I can add to this later, I will.

Sadly, after 10 years of service, our 'old' Panasonic 2.2cf microwave gave up the ghost. I was thrilled to see that they still made a microwave with this size and power. After 10 years of trouble-free service, I did not hesitate to buy another! We use the inverter defrost setting on everything from small portions of meat to whole 20 lb turkeys. My wife loves to bake, and the power settings are sensitive enough to adjust down and soften butter or chocolate without melting half the stick/block. The sensor reheat feature works great as long as you do not use a splatter cover, as using one throws off the sensor. The keep warm function is nice when you are heating frozen or canned veggies to go with a grilled meal, ensuring everything hits the table hot!

    Got a LEMON!

I researched Consumer Reports 2016 Buying Guide before buying this microwave, and THIS is the EXACT brand & model that came most highly rated & recommended. It worked great for 10 DAYS, then the weird & creepy problems began.....One night I put my plate of food in the microwave, closed the door, and BEFORE I could enter the cook time to heat my food (and I had NOT pressed the start button yet) the light came on and the turn-table began turning SILENTLY by itself WITHOUT THE MICROWAVE MOTOR BEING ENGAGED! I opened the door to stop it, closed the door again, and THIS TIME, I was "allowed" to enter the cook time to heat my frozen food and press the start button before the microwave turned on and functioned normally for the moment.........The NEXT NIGHT I put my food in the microwave, entered the cook time, pressed start, and the microwave would come on (light & turn-table too) for 1 second and then shut off. I pressed the start button several times, each time resulting in the same weird "on for 1 second, then off by itself" behavior! So I called Panasonic for trouble-shooting help because THIS issue is not mentioned in the owner's manual. After I described the weird behavior of this microwave to the customer service rep, she seemed unable to find a solution, so she put me on hold for several minutes to consult her supervisor. When she came back, she said, "You need to return it to Best Buy as defective and exchange it for another one." I was shocked by her response. But after much consideration, I decided NOT TO ROLL THE DICE by exchanging it for ANOTHER microwave of the SAME brand & model. One "demon-possessed" microwave was enough for me! I'm going to buy what I've always had good & LONG service from......a SHARP Carousel. My old SHARP Carousel microwave was made in Sept. of 1998 and is still going strong. I should have NEVER tried to replace it. I'm SO GLAD that I did not throw my old one away! Sure, the light bulb in it, has been burned out for years, but at least it heats thoroughly and RELIABLY and the turn-table and all features still work properly!

I absolutely dont agree with past reviews, I have had mine for 3 years now! I dont have any issues with being cheap made, or noisy. I like the sensor cook and reheat options as well as the quick minute button. Love the invertor technology because it heats and cooks from the inside out so my foods still not cold in the center. Best Microwave ever purchased at a great price. Makes baked potatoes to perfection, I clean and refresh mine by boiling water and lemon juice for about 8 mins, this makes it easier to wipe out stuck on messes and make it smell good too. Never spray cleaner on the inside this will cause many issues.

Don't you just love it when you read a review, and the person only owned the product for a few hours to a couple of days? Well, read on. I purchased this microwave over 1-1/2 years ago, and I just love it. I had seen this model and knew I wanted it, but I could not find it when I was ready to purchase. This unit replaced a m/w that was used a lot--not just making popcorn or reheating, but making full meals. The cavity in this one is outstanding. I noticed others are not as pleased with this model, but I know most of my friends that have a m/w just put their food in it and set the timer. If you cook something on the stove, you don't just cook everything on high heat--or you will be discouraged. I did have one minor problem when I first purchased this: I would place something in it, and after a couple of minutes, it would stop and give me an error msg, which I looked up in the manual, and followed the instructions. Then it gave me a different error msg, which instructed me to contact Panasonic's Customer Service. I called them--they were very pleasant and had me do some things to see if the problem was resolved, but the problem was not corrected. I did have to take it to an authorized Panasonic service center. They also were very pleasant. I had my oven back in about a week. He just gave me a receipt for the work that was done (no charge, of course). He told me that something was not done right in the factory, and I had the work receipt in case I needed it in the future. It has worked wonderfully since. I did not like the fact that I had to truck on down to take this in, but the service that both Customer Service and the Repair Center provided made me feel more comfortable that I bought a product that they pleasantly stand behind. Also, a few months later I went to see my sister up North, and she just had to have the Stainless Steel version of this same model. She did not even know that I purchased this one.
