Just watched an NBA game in HD. Wow! I grinned skeptically when I read other reviewers' comments that said the HD picture was 3-D like. Now I see what they mean. The HD image is clearer, sharper and seems to have more depth than the non-HD image. I chose this Panasonic over a 40" Samsung Smart TV as an upgrade over a 32" Samsung 720p/60Hz in the master bedroom. Both are 1080p, but the Panasonic is a true 120Hz vs. the Samsung's 60Hz (with what Samsung calls 120 Clear Motion Rate). I read every review I could find for both TVs. The real deal breaker was the number of comments saying the Samsung has problems with Internet connection. No problems so far with the Panasonic. I have a WPS button on my router which simplified adding the TV to my wireless network: During setup I pressed the WPS button on my router and then the OK button on the Panasonic remote. After the TV's and router's brief "mating dance" the Panasonic was soon connected to my network. If you don't receive HD channels, you might be better off to save some money and go with a 720p TV. But if you do receive HD channels, I think you will be very happy with the picture you get from this Panasonic. Finally, the unit's speakers are neither wonderful nor awful. I have both a sound bar and a home theater unit which I am using currently for better audio.

Do not purchase Panasonic. I purchased this TV in Feb 2015 and its September 2016 and I have to purchase a new TV. Panasonic customer support was very helpful with "Sorry the TV is out of Warranty". I had reservation about the TV when I purchased it, but it was cheaper and bigger then the Samsung I was considering. Lesson learned, will never buy Panasonic again.

    BUY THIS TV

I returned Panasonic model: TC-40A420U, the 60Hz model for this TV and was amazed at the difference. I agree with those who say that the picture almost looks 3D at times. The difference between 120Hz and 60 Hz is very noticeable during scenes with a lot of movement. The Soap Opera effect can be removed in settings by adjusting the motion option . Pay the extra 90.00 you will be glad you did. The Apps are OK but I have ROKU for that. The web browser is OK also but the remote key board entry is clunky and difficult to use. Down load the Viera App to your phone or tablet and use it as a keyboard. Very glad I traded up for this unit. The picture alone is worth the money. The rest is just added value.

    Very good TV

I've had this for about a week now and very pleased. Set up was very easy when connected to a Verizon Fios box. Pretty much no setup required actually. Picture modes seemed a little dark but the custom setting let me play around so that I could get whatever I wanted - very satisfied with that. I have a high end Samsung in the great room and the picture on this Panasonic compares to that. Have only begun to play with the smart TV features but they seem to be easy to use and had no problems with connectivity to my home wifi network. Overall seems like a very good TV.

Certainly an easy put together and setup. The picture is solid as long as your source is in full HD. Things that stream at 720p, like netflix, or up-conversions of DVDs tend to blur a bit I assume due to resampling. So if you are just looking to be playing blu rays then you'll be set. As far as smart features go, the clock works, the weather app is great in which you can have it set to various locations, but the browser sucks big time. It can't handle much data and typing is difficult with the provided remote. Overall, it's fine enough.

    Great Picture

This LEDTV replaces a Sony 37" Bravia. There is a definite improvement in clarity, definition and color saturation due to the improvement in technology. The "smart" feature was easy to set up and use, especially the Amazon Prime. No improvement is noted in the sound quality which brings me to my one reason for not giving it a 5 star rating. The sound is reasonable for little speakers facing downward but the audio output is limited to only a digital optical output. Adding a surround sound system or sound bar vastly improves the viewing experience. To hook up my surround sound system and headphones, I needed to add a digital to analog converter with RCA splitting cables to feed both my audio system and headphones. At a minimum, the TV set should have included a analog output in addition to the digital optical audio output. Overall a great TV for the price.

Great TV, easy to use and configure, great image quality. However, the way the HDMI and power ports are oriented on the back, prevents tight mounting to the wall.

    Excellent Value

I bought this television purely for its Smart TV capabilities since I don't get cable. I've been very pleased with it overall. The picture is excellent and the sound is much better than I expected given some of the comments in reviews. My only issue (and it may not be an issue with the television itself) is that I can almost never watch television shows from HuluPlus - though strangely movies from that site are fine. So I watch Netflix or Youtube videos on this Panasonic and HuluPlus television shows on my computer. For the price I paid, it was an unbeatable value. However, I would actually give it 4.5 stars if I could because the browser is very clunky.

    Horrible Apps

I purchased this TV because I wanted to get rid of cable and get my local stations with an antenna. I also purchased a smaller Samsung for my bedroom. I had difficulty with this TV locating my modem, I had to push a button on my modem for it to locate it. The Samsung connected automatically. This TV has very few free apps, most of them subscribe to and pay monthly or yearly, pay per view or rent. The ones that are free are from India, Canada, and France. I'm giving it a 3 star only because it has a great picture & is easy to figure out. The Web Browser is a nice feature but don't expect it to work like a computer. It won't play videos, access is limited. Facebook feature is nice but then again don't expect it to run the full. Facebook web page, it only runs updated posts along the side or bottom of the screen. You can like & make comments. Overall, I'm disappointed. The Samsung has a lot more Apps and free ones too.

I bought this on sale from BB for $349. The set up was easy, and the picture and sound quality are very good for the price. The smart apps are easy to use and install. I had no problems setting up Amazon - it worked fine for me, as do netflix, rhaposdy and pandora. The only down side is that you still have to use two remotes, one for Directv and the panasonic remote for the apps. Web browsing is clunky but that's to be expected. The ability to control the TV from my the iphone app is nice touch considering the panasonic remote is not backlighted. I can't comment on how this TV stacks up against those selling for $500, but at $349 it was a good deal.

Well I couldn't deal with the old tube TV anymore but didn't want to spend a fortune on a new flat screen. This television was the right price and the picture is truly amazing. Other reviews and my own experience corroborate that the picture has incredible, 3-D like depth.

Picture quality is the best. Colors are vivid, look normal and alive. Not oversaturated and easy to customize. Good presets. Easy to use remote with great menu and options. Motion is smooth, make sure you have fast internet. I used cheap hdmi cable, no stutters. Sound is better than other Hdtvs. But i always use subwoofer. Netflix worked good, amazon movie still to be updated. Useful basic apps. I was able to use the wireless display for my dell venue 8 pro. No longer need to buy miracast. And ps3 worked with no lags. Bluetooth keyboard and mouse worked plug n play. Internet browsing is still sluggish like other smart tvs, but i have my dell tablet. This is the best TV brand for me. I recommend it. I cant stop watching movies. Im still exploring my new TV, love it

Nice TV for a bedroom. Mounting the TV on the base was easy, and only took eight screws. The base feels even sturdier than needed. Connected my source inputs, powered up, followed the on screen setup wizard, detected wi-fi, ran an automatic software update when prompted, and everything worked within minutes. Works with Amazon Prime, Netflix, Youtube, and other Smart TV functions. Very nice picture. Clear audio.
