No DVD remote friendly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have very disappointed in this product. The menu button on the remote control does not work. I talk to Pansonic tech support. They reset the remote, and it worked for that one moment. but has not worked since. It really frustrating and disappointing. Picture is ok, and it works off an on ok with Youtube.

Not a bad player
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After numerous attempts at connecting the unit wirelessly, after contacting both my internet provider and Panasonic the unit had to be finally hardwired into my modem/router which is only 25ft away. The unit does not allow for punching in your code with the keypad instead you have to select the numbers on the screen with the arrows. It times out when you have taken too long to key in your password. This is a problem when each time you turn the unit on you need to key in your password 4 or 5 times because the unit does not sustain the signal. Other than that the unit works well up to now, but very problematic when connecting wirelessly to the internet. My other unit which is farther away had no problems and immediately picked up the signal. I think Panasonic needs to upgrade whatever picks up the signal in the player to be better than what it currently is. I have to say Panasonic's customer service on a Sunday afternoon was just as good as any weekday regular hours customer service. However this was very frustrating.

Perfect for a little over a month...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked great when we first purchased. It's easy to set up and connects to wireless without having to buy any adapters or any stuff like that. The firmware updated as soon as it was on the wifi. The apps are just okay. Pandora is pretty good, but the YouTube one was kind of buggy. Just about a month and a week after purchasing, it only plays SOME blurays. Others work totally fine. DVD playback seems to be unaffected, but it is a bluray player. This replaced a Panasonic bluray player that was beat on for three years without a hiccup. Didn't buy the protection plan on this one, big mistake.

Good blue ray player, ok smart features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great picture quality, but not as smart as I would like. Complicated to use the smart features. Updates of the firm ware cause frequent smart use complications. Should be simply and work with our a lot of work on the owners part.

Poor Output options
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Be warned! This Blue Ray player only has one HDMI output. That means you run the HDMI to your TV, and then output an optical cable to your surround sound. But guess what? Your TV probably doesn't output to a true 5.1 Surround sound. Mine doesn't. And even if it did, would I want my Blue ray player to go to my TV, and then to my Surround sound receiver to play the audio? Just like you wouldn't want your Cable to go to your surround sound system, and then to your TV.

Worst Thing Ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Originally bought AUG 2013, and had to replace the first unit 20 days later, because of manufacture defect. Called Panasonic to trouble shoot the problems, and when nothing could be done to fix it I exchanged the unit for a new one. Luckily I was a silver member, because if not I would of been stuck with a broken unit. Now less then 2 weeks later I now have a unit that does not turn on or receive power, and have a dvd in the player. Again called Panasonic and nothing can be done to fix this unit either. They recommended sending the unit to their center to get fixed, and it would take between 30-45 days. I don't appreciate Band-Aid fixes. I will be exchanging for different brand and model. I would not recommend this to anyone!!! If you get it beware of the nightmare that awaits you.

Probably would've been a good value, had it worked
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my daughter because it had wifi and the hulu and Netflix apps installed. Also was a good price -- on sale for $89.99. Thought it had to be decent since our new Panasonic smart TV is awesome. Uh ... nope. My daughter's Toshiba HDTV didn't recognize anything was connected. Tried it on another TV too -- nothing. Another player worked fine on both TVs using the same HDMI cords plugged into the same HDMI inputs. Bringing this back tomorrow. Hope Best Buy will let me get a different model without issue. Don't want an exchange for the same one. Think I got the last one in stock at the store anyway.

Player freezes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This player has slow response time to remote commands, and freezes to the point of being non responsive to any remote control command or the buttons on the unit itself. At which point only way to use it again, is to unplug it. Does not play YouTube videos, always freezes!

Player only lasts until warranty ends...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is not a good buy save yourself the time and frustration. This player does not update well. I have called Panasonic for two days and they have done the same thing over the phone. I have completed a factory update twice and now I am told I have to send it in for them to fix it however it has to be sent in in two days or it will cost me to fix it. I would not suggest this unit for anyone who does not want extra problems. If you like to spend time on hold and wasting your minutes this is the unit for you!

What a piece of garbage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this Panasonic (DMP-BD89P-K) on Black Friday 2013 - took it home and connected it to our 32" bedroom TV with an HTMI cable, turned it on, got the standard Blu-ray start up screen for a second, then a quick flash, and then just a black screen - After spending 30 minutes trying to figure out why it wasn't working I decided to try it with our 42" Panasonic TV in the living room (figured both being Panasonic, they should work with each other) - Wrong, sadly same thing; shows the standard Blu-ray start up screen for a second, then a quick flash, and then just a black screen - Funny enough our Sony PS3 Blu-ray player works fine on both TV's - Conclusion: this is a non-working piece of @%$# - How bad would we have felt it this was a Christmas gift for someone - We're taking it back to Best Buy tomorrow!

Wouldn't Play Some Blue Ray Disks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I installed this unit certain Blue Rays wouldn't play on it. At first I thought it needed a Firmware update but after I updated it still did not play certain Blur Rays. The disks I was trying were brand new and worked on other players. I looked online at Panasonic and others had the same problem. The "Panasonic Solution" was to add a 2G SD card. It doesn't have a slot for an SD card only a USB. I ended up returning to Best Buy and getting a Samsung that played the same disk fine.
