I almost did not buy this movie due to the film critics reviews. What is a film critic review anyway - One person's opinion. Well, I thought I would take a chance and buy it. If it was not good, I could sell it on E-bay. I will not be selling it. This movie held my attention although there were only 4 characters (including the robot). Great story, acting and a few action scenes. Plus I enjoyed the ending, it made me happy. And that is what movies are all about. To entertain us and make us feel good and happy. After all what is the purpose of movies: to escape from reality for a couple hours, relax and enjoy. This movie does just that.

When the movie was originally announced I had a strong desire to see the film. However, as reviews were beginning to circulate I became skeptical that it would live up to my standards for a "worthy" movie. I'm glad I took the chance. The film certainly delivered on all fronts. Great visual effects, a strong story, and engaging characters. The movie also scored big for me by not involving multiple side plots which other films have to make up for a weak main story. Yes, the main storyline is simple but the plot unfolds logically and the characters are developed thoughtfully so that the viewer actually cares about them throughout the film.

I bought "PASSENGERS" for couple reasons: BEST BUY had the 'BEST' price, which usually BEST BUY does, I wanted it in 3D, and heard and perused good things (reviews) about this movie. I will not say much as I do not want to give it away (I will add that one critic said it was like TITANIC in space, which is ironic, as today as I write this review, is the 105th anniversary of TITANIC's sinking). BUT visual effects and sound are EXCELLENT (ATMOS sound is ONLY on the 4K HD disc, as the 3D only has the 5.1 DTS track), and 3D is great. So glide down to your BEST BUY and pick up this movie. And become a PASSENGER!

It's great eye candy. The sets and CGI are phenomenal. Of course Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt aren't going to burn your retina either. As for the storyline, there are definite holes in the plot. However, it's science fiction, so there is willing suspension of disbelief anyways. I found the subplot of interpersonal conflict between the two leads reasonably compelling. The ethical dilemma that arises could have been played up more, but there are enough harsh issues in real life that this movie provides exactly what a lot of us want in a movie. That is a short escape from reality.

I think the story started off kinda slow. Then it got interesting with Lawrence Fishburnes character but he didn't last long. Chris Pratt saved the day, Jennifer Lawrence gave her predictable so so performance. Ending seemed like it was cut short. Special effects were incredible. Sci-fi is my favourite genre and I really like Chris Pratt movies so I give it 4 stars on the strength of his performance alone. Jennifer Lawrence IMO is boxing herself into the same type of character with different dialogue. I don't mind spending $25 for the disc just glad I didn't spend $60+ taking the family.

I saw the movie at the theater back during the holidays and thought it was merely OK. After reading some reviews on YouTube I decided to pick it up since it was $19.99. I primarily wanted to sample the video quality, as internet says it was shot with a 6.5K camera and finished at 4K. There aren't a whole of UHD movies that are actually finished in 4K. While the movie is still OK, the video quality was excellent and the Atmos soundtrack is pretty good too. There are several scenes with a lot of bass for your surround sound system. A likely great date night flick on the couch.

Usually, most "deluxe" 4K packages do not include the 3D version, which must be purchased separately. This one includes the 4K, the 3D Blu-ray disc, the Blu-ray and a digital copy. Now THAT is a true deluxe version. I wish that others would take those of us seriously who bought into Blu-ray, bought 3D titles, are buying the 4K versions, and who also have UltraViolet accounts where we park our digital copies. This package is the first one that I've seen that truly merits tags like Collector's Edition, Deluxe Edition, or any of the other tags that the studios use. Thank you for a great edition to our library.

first off i bought this 5 days before it was on sale for $10 less so that colors my review. that being said i do like the movie in spite of it's so so reviews when it was in the theaters. the stars are both good and the story is unique . the only thing i am not sure off is 4k. i do not know if the premium charged for 4k movies is worth it. some movies you can not notice any difference from a good blu ray. others are not visually demanding enough of the extra detail. in the future i don't know if i will buy any 4k movies at a premium. i will wait a while longer for a good sale.

I found this movie to have some deep philosophical meanings. The way that Jim steals Auroras' life and then gives it back to her is profound. Both of their situations look totally bleak when they first wake up and then ultimately they are able to have meaningful lives together. It's inspiring. The visuals of the ship and space scenes are very good. The bartender is amusing also. This movie is Science Fiction done well!

Although this movie will probably never be anyone's favorite movie ever, it for the most part wasn't a bad movie. The special effects... the ship in particular... were really nicely done and having 2 of the biggest stars out there right now didn't hurt either. The movie does offer an interesting question, what would you do if you were put in a situation like our hero was.... do you wake the other person up and probably doom them to a lonely death or do you leave them asleep and doom yourself to a lonely death? For our hero it worked out probably as it should of.

I fell for poor reviews and didn't see the move in the theatre. After seeing an extended preview in another Blu-Ray movie I took a chance and purchased as a Black Friday sale item. Both my wife and I very much enjoyed the movie. While it combines elements of Castaway, 2001 A Space Odyssey, The Martian and Gravity the film is imaginative and more than just a space movie as it adds moral, ethical and legal elements should hypersleep become a reality for long-term space travel. The film is visibly stunning and well paced.

Overall good romantic Sci-Fi with very good balance between the two strongest elements of the movie and very good chemistry between Chris Pratt and J-Law. I thought Chris Pratt gave a good performance; J-Law gave a strong performance. The movie had a few scenes that didn't seem to work but overall good movie and nice ending. I understand there were some negative reviews of the "selfish" act by Chris but I can understand his dilemma and his disparate action, and J-Law's roller-coaster of emotions; I liked that their ultimate relationship worked out for the best.

Haven’t watched it yet, but I grabbed it out of the $5 bin a few months after the release. Whatever, it ‘s a space movie, gotta have it! Love the digital copy!

In my opinion, science fiction is always best when it delves into a great "what if" scenario where the audience can actually see this type of thing on the distant horizon. Much like Interstellar and The Martian, Passengers does touch on the possibility of mega distance, mega decade travel and all the odd aspects of actually doing it that confound scientists today. It also touches on the very human "what ifs" of what would we do as a human being in this case. Exhilarating and kind of scary when you let yourself get deep into this movie.

I had high anticipation for watching Passengers - the previews were great and the effects appeared solid - and, who doesn't like Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence with a throw in to Michael Sheen and Laurence Fishburne. And, I was satisfied overall - well paced, well written, perhaps not enough angst on the part of Pratt's decision, but, overall, enjoyable and stunning - effects there days are incredible. But, there are some unanswered questions which can of leaves a gap at the end, but don't let that detract from enjoying the movie.

Although Passengers is still a spectacular sci-fi thriller, it also examines a loss of oneself and a blossoming love story. I was apprehensive when viewing this movie in theaters because of all of its mixed reviews but I was stunned to see that the movie was spectacular! Sure, it has its moments where the story could of been a bit stronger or the editing could have been tighter, but overall it's a movie I'll go back to time and again to watch. Did I mention that Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are amazing? I'm sure you already knew that.

This movie was awful. I do not care for Jennifer Lawrence. Her voice is so annoying. She was actually hired to narrate A Beautiful Planet. God awful.

This was a movie that I initially rented for an evening just to check it out. I'm a big fan of sci-fi and I'm pretty forgiving even when the delivery lacks. This film was good though. I'd feel guilty giving it 5 stars, because it's not the best sci-fi film in the world. But it was good enough for me to own, knowing that I'd eventually get around to rewatching it. And truthfully, there aren't a lot of movies that merit multiple viewings. But I enjoyed it, and it was at a good price, so I'll watch it again.

I am rating the quality of the 3D Bluray first. I really enjoyed the 3D effects, which work very well with outer space movies like this. The scene with zero gravity in the pool was interesting, and the scenes on the outside of the ship were very good as well. The movie starts slow, but gets better as it moves along. The one thing that bothered me (only a little) was how they conveniently inserted Fishburn into the movie as an engineer who was able to get them access to the bridge and other areas to save the ship.

Wow, what a pleasure to witness Katniss, whoops I mean Jennifer Lawrence, in a futuristic, fantasy movie again! And, that's just the backdrop to this science fiction tale that could one day actually happen to us as a human race desperately trying to leave mother Earth for whatever reason. Things could go quite wrong and what could or would we do? Such fantastically grand settings, I felt like it was a "Ripley Scott Film!"
